One of General Horne's "bread and butter" roles, and James Levine is the kind of conductor that one dreams of! He is entirely there for the singer and keeps the orchestra in pristine condition. Bravi Tutti!
La mejor versión de cruda sorte que escuché fué en la voz e interpretación de Fedora Barbieri, aunque su voz era dramática me sorprendió su agilidad, realmente era una fuerza de la naturaleza.
HHave you ever noticed how Marilyn Horne does not over exaggerate her mouth her lips except for maybe the high part of her voice she doesn’t ever use the facial expressions or her eyes it’s all maintain constant throughout the entire area is not over exaggerating or overexploited. And have you also noticed that her ornaments away or within the style of the entire song in tact of the entire piece of music there it doesn’t seem like tournament stick out like they’re not supposed to and they’re supposed to blend in with the bees have your nurses about Marilyn Horne compared to other mezzo-sopranos that sing this type of music?
Marylin never excessively covered her voice and sings rather pure vowels. That created a clean cut sound and whilst it was not huge it projected like a panther ver well into the theatre. She also sings with a wider placement in the mouth palate versus a vertical mouth dropping technique.
She was the queen of singing in the « false » mask that produces a nasal, muffled, over covered small ugly voice. I use her videos to show my students what bad singing is on daily basis.

She was highly influential in helping me appreciate opera. What a star. I one escorted her from a concert venue to her car in CT in the rain.
To jest to❤❤❤
Ed eccolo qui il più grande contralto rossiniano. Come lei nessun'altra.
Brava Diva!!!
I had the opportunity to see her in this role at the Met with Rocky Blake as Lindoro in early 1982
They were both Spectacular!!!
😎😎😎
Exellent singing,conducting and orchestra!
Изумительная певица! И какая красавица!
Both are as always amazing! Horne is brilliant as always. Levine's conducting is a voice of its own, a wave for all musicians to ride.
Thank you for digitizing these valuable pieces of music history for posterity! You're a saint!

Gene Leonard- Tenor she just without ego serves the composer. Brilliant. She’s a conduit smack on the stage and basta she’s gone again.
@@ryanskelton7888 Trust me, Marilyn Horne has PLENTY of ego
@@bmbutler2 I have found the exact opposite.

I wonder when this aria was sung and where. Please
Looks to be the late 1970s. I cannot ID the venue.
Year?!!!
Дирижёр похож на Игоря Корнелюка 😁
In what year was this?
Any chance you can correct the misspelling of her name in the title? It should be HORNE, with an “e” at the end.
Of course, thanks for the correct spelling!
