What is it about the Canadian rock band that makes them more hated than Creed, Insane Clown Posse, and Limp Bizkit all put together? While they’re far from the only band to have issues with women, lead singer Chad Kroeger is famous for being immature and misogynistic, which is often reflected in his lyrics. In addition, many listeners find their sound bland and completely unoriginal.

I’m a metal head , and I love lots of genres of metal and other bands, I’m a big Dean Martin fan aswell and I’ve seen lots of bands, a few years ago I saw Nickelback live in Manchester with my girlfriend, (she was a fan) and the arena was sold out, they were brilliant live. When they performed “RockStar”Chad got 3 fans on stage to sing it with him, 2 girls and a disabled boy which was very nice to see. I Don’t know Why people hate them, my girl hates Heavy Metal, lots of people hate all different types of music. I don’t like boy bands but someone must like them because they’re selling tickets, If we all liked the same music the world would be boring. (I know everyone is different and have different views, this is just my opinion)

It’s impossible for me to hate Nickelback when Lullaby got me through a particularly rough time in my teens. I’d listen to that masterpiece on repeat for hours just lying down in bed.

I never understood why they are hated to the point that pop culture always berate them for their "bad music". I'm not a die hard fan but once I saw lullaby play on tv. Back then I couldn't understand English very well but the visuals of MV and the vocals of the singer spoke to me. I will always have a soft spot for Nickleback because of lullaby. Nothing beats the nostalgia when I listen to that song.

GLAD I am from Germany, we‘ve never heard anything (bad) about Nickelback here so I can just ENJOY the band without having all the rumors in the back of my mind. Plus, I simply can’t hate on a band that wrote the most touching song ever, „Lullaby“, with the most perfect lyrics ever. It’s my favorite song of all time and it‘s been helping through dark times still.

I think you nailed it. It seems so fitting that they began as a cover band, as they're doing what a cover band does: play crowd-pleasing music without taking any risks on making a new sound. People are just bitter because Nickleback made so much money without needing to do anything new. It's like being mad at someone for becoming a dentist.

Rock is supposed to come from a place of sincerity and genuine feelings / experiences. Chad and the band have not been shy about sharing their intent to write songs that are hits with no genuine experiences behind them. That’s the problem.

The "awful" 2005 album hit 10 million units in sales in the US alone in 2017. That's "diamond" status- only 2 others managed that since 2005- Garth Brooks and Adele. Nickelback is still doing just fine in spite of all the hate.

Over the years I've heard the Nickelback thing about being hated and not being a big follower of theirs I was alway curious about what they sounded like. Just listened to the mentioned song and it sounds familiar enough to recollect some of their work. It is a sound that draws you in but I can understand that if heard repeatedly would get old in a big hurry. This is not so different from a time some years back when I would listen to an old classics radio station and for some reason they would play an old Beatle's song - "Michelle". When first heard it's engaging and pleasant - after about a 100 times, which this station seemed to like to play - I wanted to throw up every time they played it.
The hate for this band has just never made sense. I think it's just pure jealousy?

I think they are hated because their songs used to be played on loop in every single damn radio station, people really just got enough of them. At least this is what happened to me, I liked them as a band, I was never a fan or anything just enjoyed few of their songs, but after that rockstar song (which I liked initially) I kept hearing it over and over and over it was too much man, they’ve overdone it.

I didnt even know that Nickleback was so hated by so many ! Actually i could care less ! They pumped out some Rockin Memorable tunes during their Heyday ! I had the pleasure of seeing them live at a strip down event (acoustic , indoor , 3800 people) in Spokane/Airway Heights Washington . I was a little surprised at how well the group harmonized !

Me and my step grandad lived Nickleback's hit "Rockstar" it is still a bangar to this day even if there are some bits in there that is weird but amazing at the same time.
They keep selling out arenas, so I don't know what to say. It's like back in the day nobody would admit to watching Dukes of Hazzard, yet it was the highest rated show. People need to stop worrying about what other people think and just like what they honestly like.
