I will hands down bet on relaxing as the key component to health. I was having having alot of mental stress for the past 4-5 years. Due to studiesand relationship issues. Last year I tried changing and went forward with changing my lifestyle..waking up early, reading books, keeping journals, intermittent fasting, dry fasting, paleo diet, vegan, sugar free..exercising, cardio, meditating, hiit, weight lifting..i mean all the good things I learned to get my hormones get back in balance. But still couldn’t get the “thing” i was looking for. Then on April 1st. I took out a new journal assessed everything and the first thing I felt I should begin with was as I wrote one word- relax. I told myself April will be the month of relaxing. And I stopped trying to perfect my diet and exercise. Just the minute details I was striving to perfect them in order to heal my body. I was doing everything but stressing while doing so. If you know what I mean. And it is working. The most important step to begin with for myself was to relax. And nobody told me. I had to sit down and look at myself and listen to myself. But if people asked me what I had been doing, to tell them that relaxing was the reason seemed absurd to them. They would stil think that I wasn’t telling them the truth! I am so glad that you have brought into your show someone as prominent as dr. Chatterjee spreading the importance of the little things that make major impacts on our lives. I hope as many people try to change their perspectives about health and be their own doctor. You know your body best. Doctors can guide you but you know you. Even when I was doing all the right things, somewhere deep down I knew there was still something going off about everything. And I was confused for a very long time. Jumping from one best thing to another. Self awareness is the key and it is utmost important to take your time out and listen to yourself. Great show again Lewis. Thankyou so much for bringing him in your show and confirming what I believe in.
This was great! I used to be an Acupuncturist and emotions cause disease which includes lifestyle choices we all make. It was so great to hear Dr Chatterjee help people without just prescribing medicine... it really is something that could change a lot of lives. Great work Dr Chatterjee and please keep focusing on changing the way other GP's think and maybe how medicine is taught.
What a great guy! If I ever had a doctor like this, how different my journey through poor health would have been. As it was, I had to figure things out for myself. I have since restored my health, but spent a decade, or more, before I figured it out.

Great interview! You may be surprised to know that there are many families who have limited the use of electronic devices around the table, and before bed. When my kids were young (they are in their teens now) we used to have tv allowed only from Friday to Sunday . Funny thing is when the came home on Friday after school, they'd turn the tv on and run upstairs to read....Now they don't watch any commercial television unless there's a football game on. . They do watch TH-cam but again with limitations. We sit down to a home cooked breakfast & dinner daily. I know many families who do the same. So there is still hope.
I'm going to take up Dr. Chatterjee's challenge of meditating 5 minutes a day for the next 7 days :) I love his emphasis on stillness, sleep, getting off the electronics to gain overall health.

Awesome interview! :-) I just actually found Dr. Chatterjee yesterday via Tom Bilyeu's interview with him and then binge watched Doctor in the house! It's amazing what he does and we definitely need more doctors like him! I don't know anyone like him in my country, which is rather sad.
As a registered pharmacist there's always a place for non-pharmacological options in a patients regimen. We were always taught to recommend changes in diet and exercise. Now I am more aware that we can add changes in the environment (e.g. reduced social media time) and positive mindset as well. As was stated, it might be the only thing a patient needs! Great vid as always!
Lewis Howes Dr. Rangan Chattarjee's holistic view on health and the way he presents his thoughts with palpable passion and with great understanding of the human condition. I've never met any other M.D. who's even half this ready and willing to both empower the patient and think outside the box. Must also say this doctor is inspiring me of how I could positively affect the people I help when I become a medical technologist. In what ways could I help doctors to better help their patients? In what ways could I help doctors to understand the tests so they're better equipped at ordering tests, what can't be overlooked and what could be dismissed. How could I help the doctors to think critically and how could I inspire them to want to research and continue their education throughout their career. I may not want to be a doctor due to their constant interaction with new people and the long and difficult education necessary to become one, but that doesn't mean I can't make an impact.

Super positive message! Right on point. We are missing the big picture in medicine today. Compassion, empathy and a deep understanding of patients and their true needs are what we must focus on. Look at their lifestyle and habits. Connect with patients and relay information and advice in a motivating, caring way.

I love this approach. Just adding breathing exercises has dramatically improved my life this year and no doctor would ever mention that to me. I agree with him. As much as technology is good, it's twice as bad. The problem today is people want quantity, not quality, also convenience as people are working thier life away, rather then enjoying life IMO
With regard to Dr. Chatterjee saying that he's heard from a lot doctors that they think their patients don't do what they tell them they should is because I think the major problem is that doctors don't have enough time with each patient and doctors have a pretty high burn out rate. In order for people to want to make the change to improve their health they need to understand WHY they should make the change. The average lay person doesn't understand the why and thus don't understand why the change is so vital. A doctor needs to explain this to their patients but they don't have the time to do so. Also unfortunately there aren't a ton of doctors with the dedication and love that Dr. Chatterjee has and simply do not continue to learn to the extent that they should. I think this is due to burnout. The reason I think this is due to burnout is because doctors burnout and lose passion and lose interest and forget why they became a doctor in the first place and they lose compassion for their patients because they see so many sick people it's hard for any human being to have that much compassion. And due to all of these reasons they slack on keeping up with science and understanding disease processes for themselves and if they don't understand it, they cannot explain it to their patients no matter how much more time they have with their patients. I think patients should also feel empowered to do the research themselves. I think that's probably easier said than done though. I find it quite easy to do the research myself and simply just have my doctor confirm or deny my suspicion (he usually confirms) but I'm a student studying clinical biology and I understand all the scientific mombojumbo because I have a very strong foundation and understanding of human anatomy, physiology and biology. I've also gone past foundation and I;m deep into my Bachelor's degree. I do understand far better than the average lay person. I'm not sure the solution or how people can learn without the aid of their doctor but I think that needs to be encouraged. The obstacles are there for people but I think there is a solution to them. I'm thinking that a foundational health background in high school education would greatly help lay people to understand and learn the new science for themselves so they don't have to rely on their doctor, maybe they could free their doctor up from simple things like these lifestyle problems. This would certainly help with doctor time per patient and doctor burnout I think.
Well I’m glad that I guess it’s a prescription to have dinner with one another or one meal a day whatever that is with “no devices”; I’m appalled that this has to be prescribed. My husband and I required no devices at the table breakfast and dinner. I thought this was normal apparently not
There are obvious societal problems that Dr. Chatterjee isn't addressing. Things like unemployment, shitty economy, poverty, discrimination, lack of side walks, junk food being affordable while healthy food is not, and so much more. Those yoga classes/acupuncture/therapy/mindfulness he always recommends on his show those cost money. People who are already tight on money and time can't do those things.

That accent sounds funny to me. English is not my first language and I learnt American English, I’ve heard Brit accent before but this is weird.
There are many British accents, this is one. It sounds like a mix due to an up bringing by Indian parents in the north (Lancashire/Yorkshire) to me.

It's to do with the definition of a healthy diet, ketogenic diet might be a good approach.
