Higher frequency transducers give higher (better) resolution but decreases depth. If you used a higher frequency, you would see clearer images since the puppies are close to the belly surface. Ultrasound waves require a liquid medium to travel. Aloe Vera gel is fine. But would avoid lotion since most contain ingredients that could interfere with the sound beams. The M-mode shows the B-mode over time = heart rate.
And bring the depth up. The image should be centered in the screen for optimal viewing. Yes, ultrasound is way harder then people realize. It’s a very high-paying career…and a well kept secret :)

I just got this today. mama is around 30/31 days post mate, and it is a lot easier with the earlier stage in pregnancy. The buttons are terribly confusing, but it works a lot better than I thought. Thanks for the part about measuring. Their instructions are very confusing!
Can you do update of how accurate was this ? You said you saw 3 puppies, was really 3 puppies there or more/less. When did she deliver the puppies ? Thank you !

btw the owner's manual tells you not to plug in or unplug the probe while the instrument is on.
