So my birds do get some seed, but it is part of a vet-approved mix that includes pellets and fresh food. They chopped greens and produce make up the bulk of the mix.

Very cool aviary. Would hope that the cockatoo is not included as an introductory bird as it’s really not. I think it’s very cool that you have enough space to house different species safely.
I use a smaller cage mounted to the side as a feeding area, birds quickly learn to go inside for food and it makes it easy to catch them up for vet visits, etc. Just make sure you have enough feeding stations for the number/variety of birds you have

Thanks! I love having such a densely planted area in my aviary, I think it helps offset any aggression and helps maintain the mix of species.

Hi I am in austin. Do the birds stay in that aviary in winter as well?
The birds in that aviary live in there year round. In winter the aviary is wrapped in plastic sheeting and heat lamps are put up.
