- The WHO Global Centre for Traditional Medicine (GCTM) is a knowledge centre for traditional medicine. As part of WHO’s overall traditional medicine strategy, it has a strategic focus on evidence and learning, data and analytics, sustainability and equity, and innovation and technology to optimize the contribution of traditional medicine to global health and sustainable development. At the same time, respect for local heritages, resources and rights is a guiding principle.
Now being established with the support of the Government of India, the Centre reflects the WHO Director-General’s leadership vision that harnessing the potential of traditional medicine would be a game changer for health when founded on evidence, innovation and sustainability. The Prime Minister and Government of India are supporting the establishment of the WHO Global Centre for Traditional Medicine in Jamnagar, Gujarat, India, as a global good and in the spirit of Vasudhaiva Kudumbakam: the world is one family.

Thank you dear Prime Minister Modi for revitalizing the Traditional medicine, not only of our country but across the globe. Hope that this step will bring back the past glory of Ayurveda and cure the myopic view of people about health.

What's needed ? To take a simple example, ashwagandha and guduchi works right now. It's available in powder form, India and USDA organic approved, and not expensive when compared to pills. And in powder form one can vary the dosage easily according to condition. And one can learn about the doshas. Their are many actual scientific studies demonstrating their beneficial uses, studies that are easy to find from reputable sources. What need is there when it comes down to it ? To chemically extract the working molecules, package them in pills, and sell them at a much more expensive price to a global market ?
I hope that only traditional medicine is funded that is scientifically researched and has provided hard evidence for being more efficient than the placebo effect.

Mark my words, there's going to be sketchy "research" coming out of this to prove acupuncture and smoking rhinoceros horn viable to cure cancer or some shit.
