- It's about time! Familiar course, completely new bag. I can't believe this is actually my very first round of this new chapter. I've been waiting for this moment a couple of months now and I thought I found a clearing in the miserable weather... 😂 I really feel like this is going to be an amazing year!

I REALLY like that this isn’t some promo. He’s honest and shows his crummy learning shots. He’s human. And he’s not afraid to be down to earth about learning new things
I’d like to think that was part of his negotiations with MVP too. He probably told them he will be honest with his feedback and won’t compromise his vlog channel just because of his lineup change.
@@mikeberry9766 Yes he said that in an interview, that was one of the terms he set is that he is still in full control of his vlog and content, and that he will continue playing with people who may be sponsored by other brands, and they were fine with that.
Really is the genius of mvp. Too many companies would screw this up.
yeah this makes normal people feel good while also realizing that he is a fucking god. Everyone has bad shots. Even the pros.

the reason i don't bag MVP. Love the discs just hate the rim.
White, glow and other bright rims should be the only ones that they make. Black is always terrible color for any discs.

now now, we musnt be too selfish. He's right, filming changes the practicing dynamic. Even if you arent scripted or focusing on it or even handling the cameras. I can see how a pro needs to selfishly focus on practice alone.
This is fun going on this journey with Simon watching him learn new discs and how they fly. And you can tell this is something new for him. It'll be really fun once he gets it dialed in

It's so refreshing to see him honestly learning a new bag.
I like seeing him try all these new discs AND struggle on some shots as he's learning. It's important to see this phase of him throwing new equipment and it puts into perspective just how good simon is when he's on top of it. I'm super excited to see the future of simon no matter the outcome. Great video and I'd love to see more of these as you get used to the bag.
Also the ability to park the hole with next shot shows how good pros are even when they are not certain how the discs fly :D
I just finished re-watching the final round of the 2022 MVP Open at Maple Hill where you took 1st place. How cool is it that this video pops up next?!!! You're playing your first round with MVP discs at Maple Hill. Coincidence? I think not. You are so fun to watch! Learning new discs is difficult, but you are doing great! Keep up the good work! I believe in you!! (I can't wait to see what you do with the Hex!)
The algorithm is aware
I mean he lives like 5 miles from maple hill and it is a private. Course so he could throw and film before his announcement without risking it
@@matreames Simon said he did not play any rounds before the announcement, because there are always people around that know who he is. he only had a couple of field sessions and some putting at his house. He has what three weeks to learn the bag before the All-Star event.
Loved watching you work through learning the new discs. It is really great to see what goes into learning a new bag, especially after only throwing 1 brand for so long.

I have always disagreed strongly with Brad and Chad about having a different brand for the rim-colours-other-than-black. But I only sell the discs, not make them. And let me be clear: I love Gyro! MVP are the only disc golf company to start life as expert and experienced over-moulders who learned about disc golf rather than disc golfers who had to learn to injection mould. This means their discs are the highest quality in the industry, bar none. In fact they're so good they can mould a disc twice and still sell it profitably for the same price as the one-moulders!
Its fun to see Simon having to learn a whole new line of discs after so many years using the same ones.
This is why you’re such a likeable athlete, Simon. You’re relatable! You struggle with new discs just like the rest of us! Love watching you figure out your bag.
Love that positive self-talk! And you're right about the all black rims. I usually carry 1-2 fewer discs than my bag will hold so that they'll lean over a bit so you can see the core plastic.

I just started a new job at the beginning of the year and its super humbling seeing someone like Simon going through a similar experience at the exact same time. Its a lot of mixed emotion with a huge life change that you know will be good in the long run but a struggle at the start. Good luck on your endeavors sir, We'll master it one day!
I think we can say that Simon's first experience with a newer run Photon was just like everyone else's. Holy crap that is stable!

I got a new one recently since my main got a little more flippy so I needed that -1/2.5 slot again and my god that bad boy was 0/3 for a good week or two but they do beat in extremely well

@@chuckwalla123 Do you know what are the differences between Pilot and JC's Nomad? James putted with Aviars and created Nomad. I would imagine Nomad would work for Simon.
From disc sales perspective it would be a bad thing if two biggest stars uses the same disc. I have a feeling MVP would not like him to use Nomad as well. Or maybe he gets his own putter.
@@kimmomatikainen1843 the pilot is slightly more understable and a little has a little more glide (in my opinion). I can throw a 60 foot putt and the pilot barely fades at all. The nomad I have to either hang it out wide or put a little anhyzer (which I’m terrible at) on it to go straight.
Love the honesty and sometimes awkwardness of trying new discs. Can't wait to see you on tour! Also, if you're taking disc suggestions, try out the Axiom Instanity. It's a slightly understable to stable disc, flies really straight and is a 9 speed.
can he throw axiom? I bag insanity in fission (stupid light/flippy), plasma (heavy and replaced my tesla) and one in Eclipse ( a flatter version of the fireball and volt I toss). I do loves me some insanity, but man do they differ by plastic type!

Ich habe 2020 mit dem Discgolfen angefangen und du warst mit ein Grund, warum ich zum DISCMANIAC wurde und ich hätte eine Anregung für zukünftige Videos: wenn du pre-shot die Discs zeigst und nennst, vergleiche jene doch auch mal mit den entsprechenden Discmania Molds... dann hätten deine, dir treugebliebenen, Discmaniacs einen enorm besseren Bezug zum Content!

I hope someone has explained how the MVP/Axiom lineup are stability partners. For example, the Wrath was a little too flippy so you should step up to the Tesla. Looking forward to watching your journey!

@@calebdyer6332 Not in my experience. Wrath is a tick more understable (and some Tesla are quite beefy)
@@calebdyer6332 I swear whoever puts the flight numbers on Axiom is different than the person who does the flight numbers for MVP. The description of the Wrath is it flies like a beat in Tesla which is true (barring variance in plastic of course). But the flight numbers suggest it is more overstable.

Gotta try the resistor! It's a beefed up version of the servo but not as overstable as the number might make it seem. It's like the eagle/teebird of MVPs lineup

Fireball is my utility disc, thumbers and rollers
@@Trevor_NT He can create a lot of spin like all elite level pros. Spins stabilizes and keeps the disc in the flight path until spin is running out and fade starts. That and speed of course, but that throw didn't have much speed.
@@OkieOutdoorsTV I love mine in the woods(plasma). It doesnt just fade, it stops and makes a 90 degree for me. Its similar to my volt, but the volt fades with more carry.

Great to see you playing your new MVP discs, at where else, your favorite Maple Hill course. You will master those MVP discs, and how about that Glitch disc?. I often tell folks that a great warm up before one plays a round is to have a play catch with someone. The Glitch was made for that and is great for disc golf glide upshots when playing disc golf. I am ordering many Glitches along with the Spin and Anode putters. Your many years of practice and dedication to the sport is deservedly paying off for you Simon. Get ready to have your best year ever, YES, even better than last year because a couple of major tournament victories will happen for you. When I do get you to come to play my residential course in Uncasville, CT(very near the Mohegan Sun Casino), you will be shooting at the same MVP orange Portal basket that are used at Maple Hill. We love these videos you make, and the thousands of views on the same day you post it, is 100% proof.
