Do you find that they bump your helmet on the descent? I seem to need to block mine further out on my back to have a full range of head movement. am I doing this wrong?

No but I have a backpack with all the Avy safety gear and some extra layers in there (just in case I get hurt and need to stay warm) so there is space between my helmet and the Drifts. That also insures that the board doesn't hit your legs on the way up as well.

@thegoodridesnow thanks for the great review! I’m currently based in Japan and I’m considering between these and snowshoes for short trips into backcountry and to ride my solid board.
Have you tested these out in deep powder days or in Japan?
How do they perform when breaking fresh tracks in powder?
Or if you have another recommendation for getting out into the backcountry on powdery days, please let me know!
    Keep up the great content!

Thanks! In super deep pow its not as good as splits but I don't think there is a situation in good snow to pow where you would want snow shoes. I will never Snow Shoe again

Do you have any backpack recommendations that hold the drift boards well?

Yes. Jones Dscnt 19L pack is very durable and carries a board for the whole ascent incredibly well. That is what I use. Most split packs don't have strong board carry straps or a good way to carry your helmet with a board on it. Jones Backpacks do.

I have an EVOC backpack (not exactly sure right now which model) and can highly recommend it. Great straps for the board and the Drifts fit nicely into a ballon pocket on the side. Pocket for avalanche gear. Around 30l volume. Plus, a removable mesh to fit the helmet on top. I use this for touring and a smaller Berghaus Agent 22l for normal riding.
