Fantastic memories I was a member of C FLIGHT 1SQN RAF Regiment that responded to the ASU Threat...The only Time we Returned to base On a Queen's FLIGHT Andover😅
Great episode... Does Trevor have a bit of an Aussie/NZ accent?? I was trying to pick it through the whole podcast. Got me looking at Google maps for Gatow to compare with the Wall location. Glad that the whole airfield hasn't been repurposed.
You are quite correct, the wall opposite Gatow was a fence with the very tall white goon tower behind it, however, I used the generic term wall for the podcast as it is a familiar term for most people.
I was with 7flt AAC and really enjoyed living/working with the RAF I remember doing an exercise running around on camp pretending to be the enemy we only took part after a conversation with the Raf Regt lads so we lent a hand once we convinced our own CSM it was 91 or 92
Fantastic interview. Really loved this one.

Yes, he's now been living in Australia for quite some time. Well spotted!
Wall? It was a fence actually! You could probably see it from your office.

Was based there then too. Great times
