This song feels like it should be in a film about people who do drugs, yet is about the cutthroat nature of drug addicts. That is genuinely funny to me. Not only that, but Cantrell wrote this in ten minutes while drunk. He is such a genius that he can write a song this good under the influence in that little time.

My experience with this song, I was buzzing, and in 10 mins went from never hearing it, to being infatuated with it, lmao. I kept playing it, it kept getting better, after 4 or 5 times, I was stomping around the basement, air banding at full throttle, thinking, 'Jesus, this song is just fkn amazing. Who is this guy?' Yeah. I love most, if not all, of his stuff. Down in a Hole, Rooster, Heaven Beside You and Over Now are definitely my most favourite songs he's written (among many). They're easy to relate to and can sucker punch you in the gut with the emotions put into them. His voice when solo is unreal but when harmonising with Layne, it's pure perfection🥰. No Excuses is the first song I ever heard of theirs and I've grown to love it more over the years/decades. AIC and their music are timeless.. they never get old. I love this song! I first heard it the other day for the first time! Reminds me of what you’d hear in the 90s punk/alternative scene! It’s like the old days are coming back again! Nothing but guitar and lyrics, none of this fancy crap that they had in the 80s that some of the bands today use as well. The video was cool. But, he lost me at the gas station, what happened there?
