- A.C Gilbert Co., New Haven, CT. Airflow-style circulator, made approximately 1936-1940. Centrifugal switched motor. Tag information is as follows:
Frame: 14, Type SP
H.P: 1/6, Volts: 110
Cycles: 60, Phase: 1
RPM: 1140 rpm, Amps: 3.2
Cast aluminum 16” blade. 24” base.
Wow! I didn’t know that Gilbert anything of that caliber presuming this is the AC Gilbert company. Very reminiscent Boyd profile as my Sampson safe-flex. It’s a shame that the hub on that thing looks like it’s been tweaked. I also really dig that three wing aircraft prop style fan in the background.
Neither did I until I saw it! Yes, the same AC Gilbert Co as the smaller fans. Seems a couple blades did hit something in the past, minor scrapes on the trailing edges. But there is a weight cup inside the hub to provide balance. Maybe the hub was produced imperfectly: the casting is massive. I’ll be working to see how smooth running I can get it. Need to determine the motor shaft isn’t bent first.

That’s a really nice looking fan blade! Is this the predecessor of those Swan fans?
Don’t think it’s a predecessor. Think it was made concurrently. Just a guess since I’ve not found this fan in any literature yet.
