I just boil it for 15-20 minutes in regular water. If I want it to have a crispier texture then I'll air fry it for 10 minutes to dry it out a bit then cook it according to my recipe ❤
Oh man, I need to give jackfruit another shot now that you showed me this! I also had no idea the seeds should be removed. I ALWAYS end up throwing away my failed attempts. 🤮 Thanks sister-friend! 🤍🤍🤍
The seeds can be boiled or roasted re.ove the skin either crushed it ir blend thwm. Used the way uou usedd potatoes. I won't be doing all that i love jackfruit i eat it raw or in smoothies. 😊❤🇯🇲
Yes you're right maybe it's because the barbecue sauce covered up the case I'm not sure but yes it's on point as far as jackfruit concern😅😊❤. Her skin is lovely
Thank you for this tip. I have two cans of jackfruit that have just been sitting there, that expire next month. I had no idea of what to do with them. But now I’m inspired.
@@lanalana-lf5nj hey honestly they all taste yummy just search up Sri lankan jackfruit curry. All the recipes are flavourful so pick one that you think is easy or may easily get the ingredients! Hope that helps!
I went vegan a few months back and I loved it but I would use the canned jackfruit and girl yes that brine taste is so why!!!! I've boiled for over and over hours and still the taste. I'll try this way once I fully go back still eating meat atm. I'm really wanting to make some Puerto Rican pernil or Haitian Griot. God bless 🇯🇲❤️🇯🇲❤️
Trying this next time. This time I decided to soak in cold water with key lime because that takes the ocean flavor out of sea moss before you blend it down. I'll lyk my findings!
I have been searching for this video because I have a can of jackfruit. I was scared to cook and I remember you saying you cracked the code now I got my notes and I’m ready to do it tonight.❤❤
Well I’m at a loss for words because I didn’t even know jack fruit came in a can. Wow Thanks for sharing this…I will give it a try instead of buying the huge size jack fruit and look like I be cutting for days.
The Jackfruit that I used to buy at Trader Joe’s, which they no longer sale did have a bit of a brine taste but the one at Wegmans was amazing! I made some bomb vegan Jackfruit pulled pork sandwiches that even my kids loved!
I've never tried canned jackfruit. The fresh one is one of my fave fruits though and they're everywhere. People just eat them raw over here so it's mind boggling to see this video.
My Vegan Kitchen Life channel will show u an easier way….I was having a hard time trying to get it right by listening to all of these different TH-cam Cooking channels and it failed me😭 but she taught me how to make it and it turned out good 👍🏽
Oh no.. that's wayy too much trouble girl.. just rinse well. And boil 3 times.. eat the seeds. Just chop them up. Then squeeze out and use however you want.. perfection..
Is it due to it being canned? I've only had jackfruit a few times but it's been fresh. I'm thinking of trying JF again but just want to know if there's a difference
I stopped eating meat about 1 year ago. It was so frustrating to find good meat alternatives. None of them tasted like meat, but only looked like meat. So whenever I make something, I cook everything with liquid smoke and BBQ sauce 😂
I’m eating jack fruit now I think it’s because you’re using can jack fruit the natural one doesn’t taste like that it just like pineapples mixed with bananas
I’m not vegan but I’ve tried so many of your recipes. THANKS!!!👍🏾
I really needed this because me and jackfruit are not friends.
I just boil it for 15-20 minutes in regular water. If I want it to have a crispier texture then I'll air fry it for 10 minutes to dry it out a bit then cook it according to my recipe ❤
Air fryer crossed my mind! I’ll try this too
Ooh boiling it sounds like boiling meat to remove impurities before cooking it. But in this case you cook the briny taste out of the jackfruit.
Thanx for the tip. I will try it in the air fryer.
Oh man, I need to give jackfruit another shot now that you showed me this! I also had no idea the seeds should be removed. I ALWAYS end up throwing away my failed attempts. 🤮 Thanks sister-friend! 🤍🤍🤍

Ain't ever knew jackfruit came in a can
Where did you get it? As I head over to Amazon. Lol 😅
Me too
Wow! I never knew they sold canned jackfruit. Thanks!! 😊
You must have gotten the actual fruit? But that’s the only want I can get it that fruit to big to cut
Lori, sold frozen also.
Thanks for the tip. I tried jackfruit once and told myself I'd never try it again but you've given me hope!
This bowl looks amazing omg 😍😍😍
I’ve never tried jackfruit but if I can get it canned I’ll definitely want to try this
I squeeze it out before boiling it with seasoning. Let it cool, squeeze it again, takes the taste out for me.
Sri Lankans make curry with jackfruit. If anyone is interested search for a Sri Lankan jackfruit curry recipe
Ooooo sounds delish, any recommendations for recipes you like??? 💕

Tried the enchiladas today. They were so good.
Jackfruit goes so good in so many recipes. I love making mock chicken noodle soup with it.
That sounds delish
I usually boil it 1 hr then rinse boil another 1hr as I got from another YTber, but your way seems more convenient.😩
Me too!!! This is so much better😮

fresh jackfruit is wonderful. never had can jackfruit 😳
Hmmm I might have to try. I made it once and didn’t care for it so the other can has been sitting in the cabinet!
The Jackfruit that I used to buy at Trader Joe’s, which they no longer sale did have a bit of a brine taste but the one at Wegmans was amazing! I made some bomb vegan Jackfruit pulled pork sandwiches that even my kids loved!
I have jackfruit canned in water, would you still do the simmer to develop flavor?
Whaaaat?👀👏🏽🙌🏽
Looks like shredded chicken yum
Thank you
THANK YOU!!!!!❤
You're welcome!!

Just bought a can of jackfruit. Wish me luck. 😋
Oh no.. that's wayy too much trouble girl.. just rinse well. And boil 3 times.. eat the seeds. Just chop them up. Then squeeze out and use however you want.. perfection..
I throwed my can jack fruit in the trash because i was thinking it was spoiled.😂😂😂
Thank you! I have tried so hard to get that brine taste out. Okay, let me try what you did. I will let you know😊
you can also go to the Asian store and get it fresh. i have not tried it from a can as of yet.
gem gem gem ✨
I tried this your way and mine didn't taste great. Not sure what I did wrong
I just rinse it a bit and don't feel any weird taste. I cook it right after rinsing, in a curry for example... 🤔
Yes I was blocking it in water before cooking with it to get rid of the brine
Is this applicable to fresh Jackfruit!
I don't think so. That would require a different cooking process.
Does it still hold nutritional value? If so about how much
Boil with salt and turmeric for 20 minutes.
I wonder if fresh jackfruit has that issue? I've got to give it a try
No, you wouldn’t have a brine taste with fresh jackfruit but you’ll have to work on reducing the sweet taste of it to make it savory.
How long have you been Vegan? Why?
Thank you! 😊
Is it due to it being canned?
I've only had jackfruit a few times but it's been fresh.
I'm thinking of trying JF again but just want to know if there's a difference
Well, if you use a real jackfruit, and not Jack food from a can. You won’t have that Brady taste.🤔
Agree! I’ve never had it from a can, only had real fresh jackfruit or the crunchy dried jackfruit chips. Both are delicious!
I boil in salt water then Sautee in pan with seasonings. It loses that nasty sweet taste and makes a good chicken style type of salad.
Where do u get canned jackfruit ftom?!
I stopped eating meat about 1 year ago. It was so frustrating to find good meat alternatives. None of them tasted like meat, but only looked like meat. So whenever I make something, I cook everything with liquid smoke and BBQ sauce 😂
Boil is in water so any saltiness will undergo osmosis the salt will move out of the jackfruit and the water will go in
What does it taste like?
I'll cooking it but won't remove it's flavour. I'll just go a head with the last part of your recipe.🙄😊😁🇯🇲
You're really making me want to go vegetarian again. ❤ I don't eat much meat as is.
Ok is it just me that’s distracted by her beautiful skin ?
You don't have to remove the seeds if you are boiling them.
You just cooked the taste of of it
What vegetable broth did you use?
“No-chicken broth” from wholefoods!
@@Shakaylafelice Thanks.
I live in the UK what brand is it, please?
Mind blown! I didn't even know you could get canned jackfruit
What's jackfruit??😮
We just eat the jackfruit straight from the tree 😮
Looks like chicken or tuna. I may have to try that.
More chicken or pork than tuna. Chickpeas makes a great tuna salad ❤
Trader Joe’s discontinued their brand I heard!!
Where does Jacket fruit come from? Hope not China? 😂😂😂
🎉when u know you can eat that seed after roasting it 🐭
Can you clone yourself and have your clone come live in my house? I need everything in that bowl 🤤
I’m eating jack fruit now I think it’s because you’re using can jack fruit the natural one doesn’t taste like that it just like pineapples mixed with bananas
