I thought there was no way I'm going to sit through 8 minutes of an engine rebuild video... But that was truly fascinating, I couldn't take my eyes off from start to finish! Seriously epic job.
I love how he gave the pistons such character. Especially how the new wiseco didn't want to do the rebuild at first and the old piston was like no, you have to do this. This is honestly the inspiration I need to rebuild my old kdx220 that blew up a few years back.
I took that idea, the "refusal of the call", from the hero's journey story template. Other elements from the hero's journey are meeting the mentor (the manual) and finding allies (the tools). There is so much more I had wanted to do with the storyline and characters, but I had to finish this thing at some point 😂 I love hearing that my work has inspired people. Go dive in on that KDX, it's worth it.
Thank you! It's been selected for the Santa Cruz Moto Film Festival and I'm waiting to hear back from two others. I'll happily take the feedback of the moto community over the academy, haha.
After 10 years on TH-cam, this is probably one of the best videos I've ever seen. I don't even know a lot about bikes and mechanics. Congratulations from France, a truly amazing work.
Semiconductor manufacturing equipment field service and maintenance. A kindred spirit. I have a +30 year career starting with Applied Materials, IBM and GlobalFoundries. It was night job (worked night shift for nearly all of those +30 yrs) of rebuilding industrial equipment that gave be the skills to successfully maintain my Harley Sportster 95 XLH 1200 for 106,000 miles and 20 years. I started over 3 years ago on a used BMW 07 R1200RT with 48,000 miles. Good to see a fellow semiconductor manufacturing employee.
For a second I thought the new piston was going to have to get into the cylinder before the cylinder got cleaned up..."oh no its a stop motion horror movie!" Good job, very well done.
This is the baddest dirtbike related video on the internet or in the history of time! I can't imagine the hrs it took to shoot this but this is the sickest thing I've ever seen!
Thank you for contributing this to the world of motorcycles and videos. What a rad production - I can only imagine how difficult it was to pull of. Looks like we've got a lot of the same tools, read the same manuals, and both send our cylinders to Race Tech. ;)
Thank you! I hope you read the manual closer than I do, even working at a snail's pace I managed to get a gear on backwards and a couple other minor mistakes 🤣 Can't wait to try the Race Tech cylinder out!
I had a 2007 KX250 and that thing had so much low down and mid torque... tapped out early but im in my 40's and dont really have to fitness to ride a bike at at redline anymore. This thing would pick up and rear up like a horse from a near stand still. Perfect for busting out of corners. Man, I miss that bike.
I clicked this video thank you would be more informative than some other ones.. Then I saw that it was kind of this very artistic, so I dialed back my expectations.. I was wrong to do that 😅 Very aesthetically pleasing, yet very informative without overloading the viewer with extra information.. or words in general. 😅. And nobody's hands/hairy forearm/shoulder/ass in front of the camera the whole time 👏👏👏 well done.
You sir or madam are an artist. Both ways. A lovely act of stewardship to bring this tired old engine and bike back to life, and a fantastic stop animator. You do this professionally???? That old piston and cylinder were shot to hell and had stories to tell I'm sure.
@@Mechanimations Same as Chrisp Bacon. Definitely worth the sub and the bell! Hope you are back to the project and we will see the next update soon. r/Oddlysatisfying
Best rebuild video in history! I haven't touched one of these engines since the early 90's - amazing what I've forgotten in that time! Anyway, I don't have the slightest clue how you pulled off this voodoo magic, but it was friggin AMAZING!! NICE work!! Must've been a HUGE pain in the ass, lol!
This is the best “engine rebuild video’s” ever!!!! I do this work every day for over 30years now and I am just blown away whit the time and effort you put in this. Also I would love to see things go so smooth and whit out problems in my shop😂😂 Seriously man, absolutely cool video. Mind is blown
Wow, if something good can come up of us staying at home it is probably videos like this! It was presented in the family's Friday evening dinner too :) Yes, it made me realize I need to perform a scheduled maintenance on my bike +1 Thank you so much.
Getting the powervalve gears and shafts all assemble with the correct timing is not easy! I slapped it together all out of place in the first shot, then had to reassemble correctly for the part where it's moving. Thanks for watching!
Well my count shows you made it in at 493, so you're plenty safe! I would of course love to see a million as well, but I'm not holding my breath. Thank you for watching!
@@Mechanimations Thanks so much! Jake and I worked hard on that and we're really enjoying making short films. I'm a huge fan of your channel. I thought about doing a stop motion for my channel but not even sure where to start.
I want to see more. This was excellent. And there was something else I wanted to really say, but I just can't find the words. THIS IS JUST SO COOL. Oh, yeah. Those words.
Thank you! Finding the Cuetube was the best thing that could have happened for the soundtrack to this video. Good to hear people are finding that podcast, it was fun to do.
One of the best videos I have seen on TH-cam. The amount of time and effort that you put into this is phenomenal and it shows. Thank you very much for this!
Really epic video man. I enjoyed every second. Brought back memories of splitting the cases on a kdx80 in my teen years. Heck it reminded me my street legal xr400 is sitting in pieces with a new engine ready to drop in. Thanks for the video man!
Outstanding video, thanks for what had to have been many hours editing time, and attention to detail plus a great sense of humor and imagination. Was totally worth it !
This is one of the best videos I’ve ever seen on youtube

👍👍✌️🥰😎
I never thought I would be so entertained by a rebuild video. That was awesome! Massive props!
This video is better than many animated shorts that have won Academy awards. Full stop.

This deserves more views...
As somebody who loves to build dirtbike engines, I think this is amazing 🙌🏻
A rare time when the music didn't ruin the video. Well done!

Brilliant work mate, I'm surprised there are people with the patient to not only rebuild their engine, but to make a stop motion video along the way.
Well done! I appreciated the sounds as well as the stop motion.
