Reuben Allan I have to agree somewhat but I currently own this clarinet and it compares and even beats out some of the professional clarinets. While I wouldn't call it a professional horn, I definitely wouldn't call it a student horn.
Hello, I'm thinking about buying this clarinet for my son. I see that you've owned it for over 2 years. How do you like it? How's the sound quality? How hard is it to take care of it? How often do you need to replace the pads? Did you ever wish you had bought a different one? I'm sorry for asking you so many questions. I just want to make a good decision since it's a lot of money for me. I'm debating between this and the Yamaha YCL-450. Thanks for your feedback :)
3pumpkins it’s no problem I’m happy to help. I actually didn’t get to keep this clarinet because I was making payments on it and I couldn’t afford it at the time. It’s a beautiful sounding clarinet it’s very rich in tone and it easily tunes well when you’re playing in an ensemble. It’s fairly easy to take care of it’s a bit more fragile because it is a wooden clarinet but if it’s well taken care of the wood should last a long time and you shouldn’t have to replace the pads quite often. It was a really beautiful sounding clarinet and I wish I was able to keep it.I actually made a mistake because I thought this was a professional level clarinet but it’s actually a mid-level intermediate. I highly suggest this instrument if you were to get this clarinet it would last all the way up to college.
Hello thanks for your input. My son is in 11th gr right now. He's first chair in his band ensemble. Do you think he should stay with a Bb clarinet or get an A or Eb clarinet? Would it be more valuable for him to start learning the other type of clarinet?
How well did your Vandoren B45 fit with the barrel? Have you tried the buffet mouthpiece at all? It’s to my understanding it was designed by a guy here in the states specifically for this model.

@@tomtsangtch Eb is common, but its an auxilliary instrument. So you shouldnt ONLY play Eb. A is very common in symphony orchestras

V21 vandoren reeds are horrible, you are better off with traditional, v12, or 56's
