hello from table rock lake!! walleye and crappie still biting! thanks for sharing your special memorois. love fall and winter camping. you get spoiled being and enjoying the peaceful parks!
I also grew up camping at Platt and then CNRA! We always stayed in #54! We had so much fun roaming the park. As adults we siblings have gone with our children. Many happy memories!
We loved going to Platt. First our dad's family went for years. After they quit going, we met my mom's sister, and sometimes a brother or two or three, there. We agree on many happy memories being associated with Platt.
Thank you ladies for such a charming video. I loved hearing about your early camping memories. Your enthusiasm for camping and joy in returning to a beloved family spot is delightful to see,
There is nothing like visiting special places from your childhood. We used to camp also as kids in one of those huge army surplus tents that took all of us quite some time to put up. We camped in undeveloped land along rivers in West Virginia. I am sure that I couldn't find where we camped these days if I tried. It is probably all developed or mined. I hope you ladies are staying in and safe these days.
@@TwoTiredTeachers I only get out for groceries these days. However, I am doing my best to take all precautions....gloves masks and spraying everything I touch with Clorox.
We're trying to go a couple of weeks between grocery shopping, and we're using the masks, gloves, and Clorox. We'd love to see our aunt, but she's 96 and we don't want her sick.
@@TwoTiredTeachers I know what you mean about your aunt. My sister-in-law's father is in a nursing home and she hasn't seen him in a month. She is afraid that he won't remember who she is when this is all over.
@@PidasianHippie Sharon and I have talked about the fact that if our mom were living, not being able to see one of us each day would have killed her. Our mom counted on us. I'm sorry about your sister-in-law. That's a tough position.
It's nice that you can travel together. I love traveling with my sister and brother in law with our campers. We are meeting up in Oshkosh Wisconsin then Michigan this summer. My family never camped or traveled growing up. So glad we do now.
My favorite video yet. Your family made such great memories. I got the news that I am next on my van builder's list. It looks like he will start in late February so I hope to be out there soon. Thanks for sharing.
That's a wonderful place for you !I'm thankful you shared it ,and also about your dad! I'm sorry you lost him so young ,but I am sure he's watching and so proud!

We loved Platt National Park, but the ranger we spoke with said they have more visitors since it's become a national recreation area. Of course, it covers a lot more miles.
@@TwoTiredTeachers Yeah, but come on, that's just a bent piece of metal. Literally the entire park is man made. Even the river isn't in its natural state anymore. If that can be a park anything can. Congress can't say anything about his place not being big enough or natural enough to be a national park if that thing that looks like it was Bender from Futurama's practice bar can be a national park.
Completely off topic ... I was planning to boondock on the beach at Bolivar Flats and Padre Island National Seashore during the first 10 days of March, until I read that Texas Spring Break would make doing that impossible, difficult or unpleasant. Does anyone have experience with this area during spring break? Should I change my plans? Would I still be able to snag a beach spot? I should emphasize I am only planning to go to the National Seashore; I have NO interest in the actual TOWN of South Padre Island ...

April, we took a short trip so we wouldn't go stir crazy. We are doing well. Are you able to work with the shelter in place orders?

We do have lots of memories of that park.
We all have that special place, love the feeling. Working on those places with a family of my own and it is special for sure.
Thanks a bunch for your comment. Platt is one of the special places from our childhood.

We were there a couple of months ago, loved it. Actually stayed at The Point Campground. Thanks for sharing ladies!
We would have loved to stay at Rock Creek in the Platt historic district, but it was cold and we decided not to dry camp. Glad you loved it.

It is a shame this is no longer a national park, but that giant horseshoe in Missouri is. How did that happen?
