Big thanks to baggage for the audio, and echoes for mixing the trailer.
I attempted to remaster the existing trailer by upscaling it 2x and balancing the colours as there was a slight green hue.
I then did a similar process with existing screenshots except these had a brightness issue and a red hue. I uploaded the screenshots in chronological order in how they appear in game.
I chose not to use any screenshots due to the 64DD era of development because a lot of the locations and models are outdated, and its hard to pinpoint them at a time in the game, plus they are not reflective of the final build.
I also missed out some screenshots that I struggled to place such as Lucas, Kumatora, and Flint in the desert fighting Pigmasks.
Imagine if they have moved to the GameCube instead of the GBA.

I only think animals crossing was low ploy cuz it was original a N64 that only released in Japan when translated to English they moved console too

@@wumpus976 From what I've read while trying to not spoil myself, it appears that several things including the time skip that occurs changed to be a shorter length and likely even the ending of the game.
It would be interesting to have the original N64DD files be dumped into the wild so we can piece together what this game was meant to be before getting cancelled and changing systems.
But all we can do is dream. And hope that Mother 3 one day gets ported to America, cause not everyone likes the idea of emulating a game and can readily do so.
The leaker has a lot more and might have Mother 64.
He leaked gold & silvers spaceworld prototype years earlier, there is rumours that the actual leak is 2 terabytes worth (only 3 gbs has leaked so far).
I have some vague evidence that he hangs around groups that have hoarded prototypes in the past but I would rather give him the benefit of the doubt. Reviewing the contents and cleaning them up for release would be hard work.
Although I don't know how much he wants to clean up the contents because after the gigaleak calmed down he quitely released internal nintendo emails where they were discussing nsfw stuff including loli... (dont look it up if you dont know what that means, trust me you don't want to see it)
I love the fact that Flint's eyes are usually covered in all the screenshots by his hat's shadow, but when the Campfire scenes appears you can see his eyes
The prototype for Mother 3 might be the most valuable piece of N64 history. There has to be one out there somewhere.

At first, I didn't like the idea of MOTHER 3 once being an N64 game, but now I kinda wish we had both versions. The uncanny valley kinda suits it.

Edit: I just now noticed the Monotoli building too. This was probably either a cutscene of how civilization collapsed in the first place, which was never in the game, or Porky added replicas to his city and this is the end cutscene.
Actually, the game started 100 years before EB, and after the events of Chapter 3 the game would've went 110 years into the future where the Chapter 4-End events take place.

Do we have any proof of this though? We know there would’ve been a ness like-character, and we know the protagonist would still be Lucas so this ness like character is most likely Ness. It would’ve been more connected to Earthbound, so either there would be earthbound flashbacks or a earthbound/mother 3 cross over. The prologue and chapter 1 would’ve been about Lucas, flint and Claus, so chapter 2-3 is possible but then there’s the salsa and fassad sequence. I heard somewhere that it actually took place 10 years after earthbound, which is extremely weird. So, it’s probably Earthbound flashbacks showing ness and his adventure before the world ended

I'm pretty sure that's the naming screen at the start of the game when you're about to name Claus and Lucas... but while it's still fading out of black. Which is a really weird time to take a screenshot, dunno why they did that.

Possibly, it's hard to say. My personal theory is that the original 'New Pork Island' (before it was renamed to NPC) was an amalgamation of various Earthbound cities, since the Onett sign and Monotoli building are so close to each other. Basically a larger version of Porky's nostalgia room in Mother 3 GBA.
Of course we know so little there is no definite way to say what it is.

I’m pretty sure it’s meant to be Onnet, in the second picture of the destroyed town you can see the Onnet sign in the bottom right corner

I remember a long time ago there was a Earthbound 64 revival project that sought to remake Mother 3 in the Unity Engine while also keeping the same looks as the Original N64 Demos for the game. I even had an entire playlist of the videos, and there was a playable beta map as well. But for some reason when I went to watch the videos again, I found my playlist empty with all of the videos gone. If someone else saw these videos please let me know.
The remake project was only last year I wouldn’t call that a long time ago lol. From what I know the project got cancelled. It wasn’t very far in development mostly consisting of test maps and a concept battle system

I don’t know how I’d feel about this honestly, I think it would’ve been super cool, and I do believe the story might’ve been a bit different too, but at the same time mother 3 for the gba is perfect. But mother has some cool ass cutscenes that would be absolutely amazing to see in 3D. Imagine all the boss battles but in 3D, I just hope they could make it look more clear like mario sunshine instead of creepy low poly characters
I laughed my ass off when I read this in an interview that even Itoi himself thought the 3D model of the characters are ugly as hell.

If the game ever got localized/remade, It would be cool if they added special costumes for everyone based off of this prototype. I love Flint in the bright yellow but this Flint looks so bad ass x3 and young Lucas having the overalls would be adorable.

Yep that's basically exactly what it was. The atendees at spaceworld 1999 saw the minecart cutscene in full and it's stated they fell into a river after it's over. So basically the minecart scene is how Lucas and Claus ended up in the river.

If they made this, but with models more akin to the GBA clay models, I think it would be a neat way to see a mother game. Except Flint. I like Flint’s N64 model better actually.
Not gonna lie... As fascinating at this material is, I'm pretty glad the project was moved to the GBA.
It seems that during it's development, designers were pushing hard for "realistic" visuals which nowadays has made this age like milk.
Mother 3's GBA version is timeless with its iconic design. Mother 1, 2 and 3 all look coherent and having 64 release instead of 3 would've made it the black sheep of the 3 titles.
True it would've been the last game in the series but it'd still be a black sheep which would probably make it worse
The spritework for Mother 3 is one of the most gorgeous looking games from an artistic standpoint. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a whore for super realistic modern 2022 graphics but my heart belongs to well stylized stuff.
Personally I really like the aesthetic of the n64 version, I get why people find it gross but the cartoony looking low poly character has some charm and I love the more mediterranean setting
I think the new links awakening aesthetic would work well for a remake or something like it!

This is a very interesting thing to research, though I'm glad it was on the GBA in the end. Keeps it nice and consistent. N64 wasn't the right console to transition this series to 3D. It had great capacity, but not enough to do this series justice. Perhaps GC would've been more fitting?
But either way, the final product being on GBA and with an improved classic 2D format was the right choice.

They should just give us the source code and the last build they made for this game. I mean they don't have any use for the devs at Nintendo and we want preserve all that was made of Mother 3 for the Nintendo 64.
Unfortunately, I'm sure that there is no surviving ROMs or archives of this :(. This was scrapped, so they'd have no need in keeping it for later

While it never leaked, I'd say it's quite likely that the story was pretty much the same except for a few stuff, most of the screenshots can be linked to some point in the final game :v
Pretty sure there was a script, can't remember where I read that Miyamoto or Iwata even told Itoi that the best thing was probably to release Mother 3 not as a game, but as a book or a movie, can't remember what exactly, but mostly due to the narrative being complex and because of all trouble with the 3D and development.
I'm so glad this was done in 2D instead of N64 graphics.
I'm not even a huge earthbound guy, but I am still so curious about Earthbound 64

I'm not going to lie guys, the truth is I like that the project has been transferred to the GameBoy, the Nintendo 64 had some big memory problems and also that 3d style is currently obsolete, unlike the pixelart of the final result that is beautiful. If someone did not tell me that this trailer was from the Mother saga, I would never believe it, it is so different from its previous installments.

Really don’t understand why they never saved all the hard work and ported it to GameCube. I like the gba but every time I see the n64 footage I always regret growing wishing and hoping for eb64 much like the defunct Ura Zelda. Still if Nintendo even released an incomplete copy of this and it was playable I’d still fork over the money to play it.

I'm pretty curious if Nintendo finally decided to give us mother 3 would it come the same way as the others two or would they remake it in 3D just like this game?
Personally....I wish it could be 3D. I'll admit I'm biased towards 3D games but....imagine the scene where Flint finds out what happened to Hinawa, seeing him react not from above...but up close and personal. That moment would hit even harder! Hell, you even see a shot or two of it here in the video. 3D would do wonders for this series i feel

Looks like on earthbound 64 Claus is not dead, or HINAWA is get Claus back but die. And Kumatora on that version is have more darker story, or lady on 3:57 is another girl, and I have question: on 3:57 it's Lucas or Claus?
If I had to guess then it’s probably a early version of kumatora in chapter 4 (or 5, I haven’t played mother 3 in a while)

Tbh Mother3 on 64 or gamecube would have been bad. Everyone wants to see what happened with that but it's the same as those games that never made it as a full project, it's interesting because it's unknown, ill guarantee that no one would like the artistic style they choose for this game compared to the other games. Mother3 on GBA is good as it is, and better than Earthbound tbh

Honestly this looks ugly... You can compare a lot of these screenshots to the actual Mother 3 for GBA. The 3d graphics were very bad and the character designs look bland, I'm happy with the GBA version, thank you.

Honestly, I think this game looks kinda ugly. Lucas and clauss have these weird uncanny valley faces that look weird and over all this game doesn’t really fit the mother style.
Anyone else glad this didn't come out? It has the same low-poly pixel vomit look of every forgettable dumpware N64 game with none of Earthbound's charm.
also - this whole earthbound 64 seems... almost realistic in a way. like, the faces of characters look almost like a photo of an actual person somehow....

@@domino6490 i grew up on Nintendo 64 as a child and when i first saw Ness in smash bros 64 i fell in love with his design and psychic powers and i begged my dad to get me earthbound( still a rare game at that time) anyways id stay up late at night playing all the time and still consider it my my favorite video game but god dammit i cant imagine how fun a N64 version would of been 😢
