Check when your library gets rid of old books that are damaged or ask them if they have a damaged one you could have they can only say yes or no often someone hearing you ask might offer you something as well good luck

Your video is relaxing and I love that art magazine it has a lot of pretty pictures in them! Some TH-camrs who do journals and ephermas their voice is so irritating and they talk alot but your voice is so nice and calm!

Your journal came out great but I'd have a hard time cutting up my Summerset. I go back thru them often. I can say from experience that other than seasonal editions I would not keep more than a year. Then its off with their heads! Daphne's Diary has a group dedicated to converting editions into journals or empheria. They use thick non glossy paper. Nice stuff.

I just found your video and love this idea. I subscribe to some of stampington magazines and have cut a few up and collaged to newsprint. Then I turn over so I can't see the design and cut out journal cards, pockets, belly bands, and tucks. When I flip back over I have random art tags, pockets, etc. I love your idea. I have a couple of old atlas I may try your idea and add random cutouts from other magazines and glue in pockets and dyed paper for journaling spots. But your idea is definitely worth doing. It's on my to-do list. Thank you for sharing.

Loved this journal! You can always slip the metal wire out of the edges of the ribbon too if it helps to fold it over easier. Making journals is so fun! Bella Grace is another aesthetically pleasing magazine that has a lot of journaling spots on the pages and prompts. One of my fav magazines to use in journals 🫶🏼

This is such a helpful video, even for those who have been making junk journals for a while. It really reminded me that the “bones” of a journal can be simple, inexpensive and treasured!
Love this idea. I donated all of my MIL's Sunset Studio Magazines. But I have some old photography and National Geographic magazines that will fill in nicely! TFS

I’m looking over at my towering Somerset Studio, Art Journaling, and many other Stampington issues. I just couldn’t bring myself to ever cut any of them up. But I did enjoy video. Actually the issue you’re using, I’ve used the Artists Papers to make a journal, but those were the only thing I could cut up.

Oh my gosh, you have made me happy, totally inspired me and I am in the midst of creating two journals. One which I will share with my sister for a journal exchange challenge. I have years of saved Somerset Studio magazines and can't believe what a pleasure it is to tear those pages out and seeing the possibilities they present!! So I was number 1276 to watc( this awesome video I love it I’ve never made a magazine journal but I like this approach with no sewing and easy to take in and out. I need a prompt journal so I’m going this way def with the cover then see what I can get together as pages. Might use old book pages so the prompts go on easily without gesso every time as life’s too short to gesso a whole magazine. I have got magazines I’ve kept for ‘the right time’ but no more I’m using the Janet Nash approach use and enjoy. Thank you Karen I knew you would be a star and I’m thrilled to be your friend 🧚♂️❤️

Would love an art buddy. I have been doing art since 6 years old, now much older, went to art school but that doesn’t prove anything. Fun ideas...sorry if you already answered this but what kind of glue are you using. Fabric glue that I have tried does not hold very well.
My question is : is it okay to use images from magazines, catalogs, books etc in my junk journal? I'm just starting out and I've heard mention of "copyright" issues. What can we use and what we cannot use? Thank you....enjoyed your tutorial so much!!!
For personal use you can use anything you find. The issue with copyright comes at play if you're selling products, then be a little bit more careful.

Anybody can use plain white paper to make a faux post card (background, with no inspiration), but covering up beautiful art work, doesn't make sense. Sorry, but logic makes more sense, than covering up, obviously nice works of art, that you could use elsewhere.
