What is the new hang up on “steelies”?? I lived through them when it was extremely rare you could get alloys. The steel wheels rust, chip, look like crap, even powder coated ones. They are potentially beneficial off-road, but when you are going extreme, otherwise the alloys are stronger, mor brittle, but overall stronger. Steel wheels bend under heavy loads off-road (I know, I replaced my fair share & my tire shop watched the evolution of the different wheels used over the last 42 years), but will generally get you home. If an alloy wheel fails you need to replace it, I get that, but the failure rate of alloy wheels is very low. There have been a lot that have failed, more on cars, due to drifting and road stupidity, but steel wheel soul survive that same abuse either. I have heard that you can hammer a steel wheel back into shape to re-inflate it. We have tried (successfully) in the shop, but that’s nowhere as easy as a person thinks. The wheel was clean & we had special tools to get the tire to seal on the beads. Anything is possible & people have re-aired tires off-road, more often than not, though, an attempt to re-air the tires off-road fails. Often, it’s likely the alloy wheel may have survived the damage the steel wheel folded under! The basic land steel wheels TFL has decided they like are terrible cheap wheels that work well for winter tires. Maybe at least look at styled steel wheels like the white spoke alloys on the Discovery that simulate steel. They created an alloy to “simulate “ steel!! Think about that! 😂😂.
TLDR. However I agree. Many of these vehicles already have 900 wheel choices. Just let the aftermarket supply the steelies for the few that want them for their snow tires or their off-road tires.
I think people come from the thought that steelies=saving more money because they're so ugly they're normally a bit cheaper on a work truck and you pay extra for bigger and better looking wheels
@@Kvatch1 - That would be ok, but not with these guys. They like the steel wheels the Maverick XL has!! Haha. I think they think it’s cool to say it for the fans sake,,,,. It’s misguided at best,,,.
Thank you Andre for the great reporting as always! I’m a current Powerboost owner and love that platform for daily use and recreation. Would love to see Ford take the next step with a Plug-in hybrid Ranger and look forward to your reviews of that technology!
With 3.73 gears and the 2.7 it would be a fast truck. I thought the epa figures would be better tho with this smaller truck, it’s the same mpg figures for a full size
If you Spec out a XLT right, your in the sweet spot. Configurator is pretty user friendly. I'll do an order when i can get 3k off MSRP. allways spec the locking rear diff, and trailer / tow pack about 400 for the diff.
I've been banking on a PHEV or just regular hybrid Ranger since the F150 hybrid. It makes sense for Ford to have an Electrified truck in every size category. Maverick small truck, Ranger midsize, and F150 full size.
Yeah not launching the V6 is a big mistake from Ford personally, I figure the V6 will be another $1500 or so. It’s also implied online that the V6 will only be available with 4X4
I was wondering if they're will have tremor model for this new model. But tremor doesn't get released until few years later like last gen. I guess we'll have to wait and see. I do want the tremor as well over the raptor.
With the Ram 1500 Ramcharger around the corner, the quicker Ford can bring the Ranger PHEV to market in the US the better the chance they have to run away with the mid-sized truck market. Toyota's Taco Hybrid will no doubt be successful, but the moment someone can roll up to a jobsite with a Ranger PHEV and run their tools all day long, tow without range anxiety, and actually be able to park their truck in their garage (unlike many full-sized trucks) it should be game over!

Ignorance is bliss,,, these comments prove it! 😂😂. That’s sounds like an impressive power plant in a Ranger! Glad it’s available to you in Portugal. Here in Canada it would render the Ranger cost prohibitive, most likely and the sales wouldn’t warrant the cost of certifying it & producing it here. Too bad really, but everywhere is different.
Any idea if they’ll still have a Tremor option? I’ll be keeping my 2023 XLT Tremor for several years, and Im not keen on the new front end, but I’m still curious.
The talk about $35k in this video is false. The STX truck in this video comes out to $39,615. A 4x4 Ranger with locker starts out at $38,330 and that does not include a trailer hitch or any other options.
IT WOULD BE NICE if ford could actually produce and send to dealers examples of these rangers.......now that they are 90 days + behind in delivery. I will wait for the V-6 turbo....but my local dealers are still doing ADM on virtually everything.
Agree, I know they need to keep up with safety but geez , we can’t get basic transportation anymore. Manufacturers have stereo typed American consumers as “ luxury “
On Pickup Truck Plus SUV Talk he had a video about how car manufacturers are using the technology in their vehicles to record your driving habits and sell that data to insurance companies. All the cameras and computers record how you drive, how many times you accelerate quickly, and brake hard and insurance companies use this data to determine how much you will pay for insurance.
In the UK the base model is the XL which is available with single cab, double cab and also with a bare rear chassis. The base model also has steel wheels and the same 10" base screen. The payload here is higher and varies between 2350lb and 2650lb for the base model depending upon if the single or double cab is selected. The Raptor is much less. The single cab bed length is 7'7" so when it becomes available in North America it possibly won't vary from that length. The towing limit on all versions here is 7700lb due to regulation, except for the Raptor which is 5500lb.
You're asking for comments to pass on the Ford? So, here're mine: I really love this truck design and the improvements they've made from the previous version, BUT, I ABSOLUTELY WILL NOT BUY IT unless it's offered as a SUPERCAB with a 6 ft. bed! Plus, that configuration MUST be available with all the options available on the Crewcab version: XLT, 2.7L V6, FX4 (or better yet Tremor!), etc. I don't believe I'm alone in my desire for this configuration. Tell Ford they can keep their SuperCrew!

@The Fast Lane Truck: I have Ranger Raptor tastes with STX pockets. STX seems to have everything ypu need and nothing you don't as Roman would say. I wonder how much of an upcharge the 2.7EB will be on the XLT and Lariat. Might be worth it for the extra power and only 1 MPG hit.
So much whinging on price, here in the UK the 3 Ltr diesel Wildtrck with a couple of options such as B&O speakers, Wireless charging and tow bar pack is £54K with tax which is about 68K US. Loving the truck especially the 240 BHP Diesel which returns 27MPG

It's good to see that both of these still have real shift levers. Enough with the dials, push buttons, and fancy stalk shifters already.
It looks like a Maverick that bulked up. Not necessarily a bad thing, just pointing it out. Maybe the 15th generation F-150 might get this same front end treatment.
Good point, it does.
That's just the overall new Ford design language. Don't say it looks like the Maverick lol. It sounds demeaning lol. All their vehicles will look like that soon and yes including the F-150 I think
But I agree. It does look like the Maverick when its your 1st time seeing it.
Lazy design.
My Local Ford dealership Lithia Ford of Missoula Montana has a new 2024 Ranger Raptor for $58,00K PLUS AN ADDITIONAL MARKUP OF 20,000 USD = $78K. UNREAL markup.
I would like the STX with the 2.7 engine.
Me too! Especially if it's the same one that is in the F-150. I would want to add the brake controller too.
Me too, but that's a no go as of now. 2.7 available is only on XLT and above, and only with 4x4.
Maybe in the coming year the 2.7 will be available in STX.
Be sure you keep the tacoma in the garage while it's snowing😅 and whatever you do, don't put it in 4 wd and spin the tires.
Too late

This is extremely well equipped for a base truck. does it have adjustable lumbar? Will you be able to get it with the 2.7?
Not in an STX, yet. Only in XLT and above AND 4x4 only.
I'd go XLT with the 2.7
This is the move
With 3.73 gears and the 2.7 it would be a fast truck. I thought the epa figures would be better tho with this smaller truck, it’s the same mpg figures for a full size
@@paulhunter9613 believe it or not, but ranger is comparable in weight to the F150. It’s not much less…
Ranger can fit in your garage easier than f150
What are those extra two cylinders going to cost?
Andre- really love your reviews. Honest, thorough and helpful. Always remember you are helping us.
I believe this is the plan.
The snow is beautiful... 80 degrees and sunny here 😎
I saw you guys up in Millcreek last Saturday, lol. I should have driven my old bronco up to the event up at the top
Thanks Andre for the great review. 52k for Lariat base engine. I would rather get 55k Canyon Denali.
I agree…
Yeah not launching the V6 is a big mistake from Ford personally, I figure the V6 will be another $1500 or so.
It’s also implied online that the V6 will only be available with 4X4
Ranger also doesn't have rear passenger vents....in a $50K+ truck!
@@ofmyownaccord it’s a big reason I’m getting a Canyon for the kiddos
@@altimax98 Taco > Canyon

Gotta wait for the Tremor. Hopefully it looks more like the WildTrack
I am shocked that they haven't announced that version.
I was wondering if they're will have tremor model for this new model. But tremor doesn't get released until few years later like last gen. I guess we'll have to wait and see. I do want the tremor as well over the raptor.
Rumor has it, no Tremor because that will eat into Raptor sales.
More like comparing Expensive to Laughably Expensive.
Before you buy the spray in bed liner from ford ask about the warranty on it because ford does not warranty it. I had my 2023 f250 for 3 weeks and the tailgate coating started to lift on the edge because they don’t rap the edges properly.
Did you try more than one dealer or did you reach out directly to Ford Corporate?
You buy this junk you deserve it
I bought a new Ranger in 1987 just after high school grad.$7,105.00 after tax and destination.Nice truck.
20k in todays money :/
@@Hopp3rTx You're right on the money: $19,825 in 2024.

@@Hopp3rTxYep, 20k, and it couldn't hold a handle to a maverick hybrid for a comparable price.
Which Maverick HYBRID is comparable for $20,000? Also isn’t that hybrid maverick a front wheel drive only? The cheapest Maverick Hybrid is $27k and up and it’s FWD. How is that a superior vehicle to the old body on frame rear/4WD Ranger?
I bought a 2019 F-150 Lariat 54k MSRP, 45k out the door with 0% financing in 2019. Trucks are not affordable anymore.
AGREE ITS RIDICULIOUS
My 2019 payload was just over 1400 so that number has greatly improved. Awesome
We know Andre will purchase the XL!
I have a 2019 Ranger XL (w/ Steelies) with around 78k miles...I hope they will launch an equivalent XL for maybe around 32 to 33k? Even then that price seems a bit high...as nice as the 2.7 sounds, I have never felt underpowered with the 2.3...put in 93 octane and she is at around 300 hp...on long trips I am getting around 22 to 23 mpg...not impressive when larger trucks can get similar mileage..but the truck is very solid thus far and I hope to keep her for at least another 75K miles before getting another XL...here is to me getting an XL in 2027 or 2028...blue please :) great video and thank you.
Used to be a Ford guy, but of all the new midsize trucks, I would go for the Canyon AT4. Best looking and best interior and power in my opinion.

4x4 with a rear locker for $35,000. That is more reasonable than most of the other options out there.
Reasonable indeed. Thought he made a mistake when he said it.
The talk about $35k in this video is false. The STX truck in this video comes out to $39,615. A 4x4 Ranger with locker starts out at $38,330 and that does not include a trailer hitch or any other options.
@@Richard-xv7yf He did make a mistake. The STX shown is $39,615.
Still a decent price at high $30k range considering it has a ton of standard features and most power standard.
For $420, you can add the electronic rear locker on any truck, even a 2WD XL. That's a bargain for me.
My recommendation: Wait for the 2.7L V6 Rangers to come out sometime this summer.
IT WOULD BE NICE if ford could actually produce and send to dealers examples of these rangers.......now that they are 90 days + behind in delivery. I will wait for the V-6 turbo....but my local dealers are still doing ADM on virtually everything.
I get the feeling they sent out these copies to get some press before it ends up being 2025 ....
Wait a few months for rebates as inventory builds. Since this a 2024, this MY will have a very short run before 2025s appear.
Leather this. Power that. Modes here, screens there. Sensors, actuators and options up the ying yang.

Good thinking on launching the most popular cab & bed configuration first then later add in regular cab / extended cab with long bed
I like the XL trim of the Ranger just a few options. But I’m pretty damn happy with my 2022 Maverick XLT Ecoboost with all the options.😊
You're asking for comments to pass on the Ford? So, here're mine:
I really love this truck design and the improvements they've made from the previous version, BUT, I ABSOLUTELY WILL NOT BUY IT unless it's offered as a SUPERCAB with a 6 ft. bed! Plus, that configuration MUST be available with all the options available on the Crewcab version: XLT, 2.7L V6, FX4 (or better yet Tremor!), etc.
I don't believe I'm alone in my desire for this configuration. Tell Ford they can keep their SuperCrew!
Can’t choose what body config you want. Apparently making you pay extra for those wheels even though steelies aren’t an option.
Nice truck but not sure about price on either one of them. Think I’ll stick with my Maverick.
Everyone hold out so we can make them lower the price! lol
@The Fast Lane Truck: I have Ranger Raptor tastes with STX pockets.
STX seems to have everything ypu need and nothing you don't as Roman would say.
I wonder how much of an upcharge the 2.7EB will be on the XLT and Lariat. Might be worth it for the extra power and only 1 MPG hit.
as of now $2195
The same trucks on the official Ford Canadian website are 10 000$ more for Canadians
That’s because our currency is worthless thanks to our federal government printing money to cover its overspending.

The FX4 Lariat with the 2.3L 4 cylinder is overpriced at $52K, especially considering a loaded ZR2 is the same price. I wonder how much the 2.7L 6cyl will add to the price of the Ranger as it wasn't available when I just tried to configure it. The Raptor would be a great option except the dealers will tack on at least an extra $5K just because.
