      I've been training a long time, since I was 14 (now i'm 16), start with isometric holds to build strength and mind-muscle conection so you reduce risk of injury, then start implementing plyos and more explosive work in your workout.
      You have to understand that It is a slow process.

    I’m 29 5’10” and use to be able to lob it up and flush it in back when I was 20/21, I have since lost that ability as I hadn’t touched a court in a very long time, far too long. I have regained my ability to do a two foot jump and simply touch the rim just from playing pick up games and shooting everyday. Minimal weight lifting/plyometric work. If I found PJ when I was 14/15 I think I would have had a killer vertical. But I think him and I are about the same age.. Younger guys that come across PJ need to study him and incorporate what he talks about. You will have success.

    • @lancem1583

    • @justinmurphy3976
      @justinmurphy3976 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@lancem1583 as I said, I lost that ability since I hadn’t been on a court for a very long time 6-7 years or so. By not touching a court I meant not being in the weight room, not running, pretty much not doing any type of training or vigorous exercise. I didn’t say the reasoning was my age. I included my age, and height, for reference, not to blame it. I may have came off as vague in my original comment 👍🏼

    I believe that the fastest way for an individual to improve his vertical is to understand his personal mechanical jump technique that consistently gives him the best result and build on that while following the advice of pjfperformance in terms of warm ups, workout routines, and recovery. That's what I conclude at times, but I don't know if that's accurate and want to be educated if I'm wrong. I think that doing legs two times per week, combined with explosive full body workouts such as knee jumps, burpees, and sprints with pushups has worked well for me. For core I do hyperextensions, planks, and supermans because they take care of my spine and lower back areas. Most will say do upper body, legs, and core to jump higher, but I don't think it hurts to come up with an explosive full body workout you can do everyday.

    • @mountgabe
      @mountgabe 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I think the general point he’s making is that tightness and hyper flexibility are both bad, and both should be avoided, but, hyper flexibility just happens to be worse.
      People who are tight can see strains and other short term injuries. People who are hyper flexible can see long term, season ending injuries, like to the ACL or MCL.
      Think of it like an upside down bell curve: on the two ends of the curve are the two extremes, hyper flexibility and tightness. The closer you are to those extremes, the greater your chances of getting some kind of injury. You wanna find that sweet spot in the middle of the bell curve, down low, where you’re not too tight, but not too flexible-that’s where you can best prevent injury.
      So, if you’re tight in a certain muscle group, do some static stretching afterwards; if you’re not tight and are pretty mobile, there’s probably no need!

    • @lachlaneft
      @lachlaneft 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Gabe Mount being hyper flexible is not a risk if you train and get stronger THROUGH that flexibility

    • @mountgabe

    • @lachlaneft
      @lachlaneft 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Gabe Mount this can be done through holding tension through static stretches or even just training Full range of motion so that you have the strength to hold your body weight when you get into uncomfortable positions.. sorry had to rush that response hope it somewhat made sense.

      I think you’ll struggle to make real improvements, especially if we’re talking explosive power. Increasing strength and minimising your body fat would be the way to go

      Yes as long as you havent had any serious injuries to hamper development and also dedicated. If you are overweight or just a high body fat% percentage it will take longer. Fat dont fly is always the easiest way to get a vertical up. If you have fat you can lose and also at the same time put muscle mass on. You will jump higher without even having to do anything special.

    I don’t understand how you’re supposed to decelerate. Someone please quickly explain.

    • @HW.0029
      @HW.0029 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You're not, deceleration was never the objective, going up is. You can't go up if you can't change the direction of the force you're applying, think of a car going around a corner, if you're going too fast you're never gonna make the turn, same with jumping, the deceleration occurs when you want to change the direction of the momentum.

      Lmao so you saying Wilt is the most gifted human to ever live and nobody has ever came close? Bruh 60” is a 5 FOOT jump. Vert doesnt take into account bending the legs for clearance. So that would mean Wilt with his legs stiff straight would jump over a Human. Not like putting his nuts over. His fucking feet over. His head would literally be 12 feet in the air. Lmaooo id rather just believe he smashed every woman on earth or whatever the rumor is with the amount of women he was piping up.
