I love how each Shrek movie has a special message:
Shrek 1 - Don't judge someone without getting to know them.
Shrek 2 - True relationships are about love, not about looks or status.
Shrek 3 - You are who you think you are.
Shrek 4 - Be grateful for what you have before you lose it.
Puss in Boots - Be wary on who to trust.
The Last Wish - Cherish your life because you'll never know when death will come.

@@slippahmastah Actually, Puss In Boots is about how anyone can change for the better. Puss redeemed himself and earned the trust of his mother back, and Humpty and Kitty also had their own redemption arcs and became better people.
It was a story about betrayal and forgiveness, and making up for your mistakes.
So wise
Rumplestiltskin is a combination of all the other villains from the previous movies.
. He is short and rules his kingdom with an iron fist, like Lord Farquaad.
. He has magical powers and has made a deal with King Harold, like the Fairy Godmother.
. He swore revenge on Shrek for ruining his life and his chance to rule Far, Far Away, just like Prince Charming.
So basically he is the perfect final villain to end the series.
Was their another version of Rumplestitskin in the third movie?
I remember someone mentioning that every villain wore red which contrasts with the color green, which represents Shrek
@@cjnewman7550oh my gosh you’re right! Lord Farquad’s main color was red, fairygod mother wore a red dress in the second movie’s climax, and charming wore a red outfit for his musical place. Can’t believe I haven’t noticed that before 😂

Easily better than the third film imo. My favorite moment was at the end when Shrek appreciates the wonderful things he has in life, family, friends, all that good stuff. It really is a wholesome scene to me.😌

I always touch my heart whenever I hear Shrek's daughter say "Thank you, Daddy" when he returns her doll to her.
Since you guys are doing SpongeBob, the voice of Rumpelstilstkin (Walt Dohrn) actually was the writer, storyboard, and director for most of Season 2.

This was an epic conclusion to the Shrek series in my opinion however, with everything in mind now, I really wonder how they’re going to conclude it all in Shrek 5
We'll likely never get shrek 5,but I would like dreamworks to make spin offs of the other characters like they did with puss in boots,like imagine a donkey movie,or a reboot version of princess and the frog with a young harold(as a frog)before he met Fiona'smother and became human and,the king of Far-Far Away

Sorta Stupid, the TH-cam channel, thought it was as bad as the third movie
Theory on what happened to the other main villians of the franchise in this alternate reality:
Lord Farquad - Shrek never shows up, so whichever knight ends up winning the tournament goes after Fiona instead, and gets scorched or eaten by Dragon. He keeps sending knights and they keep getting killed until he gives up and tries for a different one of the princesses that the Mirror had suggested. His policy of deporting fairy tale creatures puts him in conflict with Rumplestiltskin's regime. Rumple beats him easily, and Farquad either is killed, surrenders and swears fealty, or makes peace in exchange for a sweet contract, which backfires in some way.
Fairy Godmother - She has ambitions in Far Far Away and is thus a rival to Rumplestiltskin. Rumple's deal with the king and queen specified getting rid of all their problems. The Fairy Godmother could be viewed as one of their problems, so through that technicality in the contract Rumplestiltskin disappears her.
Prince Charming - He might be disappeared along with Fairy Godmother. If he is spared, then by the events of what would have been Shrek 1 he is already on his way to rescue Fiona. Since Shrek never showed up, then Dragon is still present when Charming gets there, and he gets eaten.
Here's why I don't think Fiona was ever saved:
In the first Shrek movie Lord Farquaad sent other people to rescue Fiona, but most likely all those knights failed and he just gave up and chose to find another princess. And Prince Charming from Shrek 2 didn't rescue Fiona because at the beginning of this movie the king and queen were losing their faith in the Fairy Godmother. Because in the second movie we learn that it was she who convinced the king and queen to lock Fiona up in a tower and she wanted Prince Charming who was her son to rescue her so he could become king of Far Far Away.
This was a good enough way to end the Shrek movies. Even though Rumpelstiltskin looks very different from the third movie, he still kinda works as a villain in this movie. There were also some pretty good celebrities like Jon Hamm, Jane Lynch and Craig Robinson. Very 2010 for a 2010 movie.
4 is my favorite next to 2. In terms of comedy, it’s a little on the weaker side imo. But the more gritty, darker and dramatic tone makes up for it. And notice how out of all the Shrek movies, this is the only one where he cries. It really shows the more emotional side of Shrek as a flawed individual and how one should be careful what they say and wish for, otherwise they could not only really hurt the ones they love, but also loose everything they’ve been blessed with.

They didn't die but worse, they ceased to exist and the credits are only the few ogres in Shrek's line.

Exactly. I'm not bothered by the fact they disliked the movie. I'll respect that. Hey, I actually like Shrek 3, even if it's probably my least favourite (the others are just better)
What I hate about their reaction (or at least what I've heard, because I didn't watch the whole thing) is that it's very very obvious that they went into the movie with mindset that "We're going to hate this movie, aren't we?". I understand some of the flaws of the movie (the horses in the beginning for example) but it feels like most of their criticisms are them getting the point of the movie completely wrong. It doesn't help that Shrek is basically a dad here with a wife and triplets, yet (if I'm not mistaken) two of the 'Sorta Stupid' gang are parents with at least one child.
I really like how they made this contract to show how important shrek actually was, crazy how shrek had such a giant impact on the world

Which irony: in the first movie Pinocchio's father wanted to sell him for money and now Pinocchio wanted to sell his father to become a human.
What I love about the shrek movies we see the entire progression of life from being a bachelor who finds the love of his life
to meeting the in laws while trying to be accepted
Starting a family of your own and the fears and anxieties that come with expecting
And finally getting a mid life crisis that let's him finally appreciate the good life he has
I have to say love the commitment to the progression.

I used thought this forth Shrek was just okay but over the years I started liking this movie more and more. I think scenes where Shrek discovers a village of ogre fighting warriors. It’s really cool to see more ogres. Makes wonder what happened with all the ogres in Shrek actually timeline? The scenes of Shrek and warrior Fiona slowly felling over each other are very sweet, especially the one with Shrek and Fiona fighting is my favorite scene of the whole movie! I hope the 5th Shrek movie gets canceled. This movie is a great conclusion of the Shrek movie franchise. The movie is even titled the “Forever after”, book closes in the end! It’s obvious Dreamwork planned this movie to be the last. A 5th will be a cash grab, just like “Toy Story 4”

@@MaishaOnTop Its confirmed to be in development. I mean after the last wish, I think we can a assume we're getting Shrek 5. A rumored release date is in 2025 but we don't fully know. What I do know is if you look it up and sometime ago I saw it said that Shrek 5 is in the works/in development. Just got to wait some more

I have no idea why they changed Rumple's design from how he looked in Shrek 3. Kinda weird that he continued to suffer with Arthur as king.
Also really weird that Arthur isn't seen at all in this movie despite the kingdom being pretty important to the plot.

I thought it was a great way to end of the series, that is until they announced Shrek 5. This film is really under appreciated. It has a lot of fun with the whole “It’s a Small World” concept by twisting the characters, Rumpelstiltskin is a great villain, and I love the theme of not knowing what you had until you lost it. It also reminded us why we loved Shrek from the very beginning.

Shrek practically saved the world last second without knowing it. So in that context, even if Shrek never existed, Prince Charming would never have the chance to rescue Fionna. I just find that hilarious

My only issue with this one is the the king and queen went to rumple cause the tower thing when they had prince charming planning on saving her originally since they were the ones who put her there, so why would they have to go to rumple? "Yes not using the last name cuz idk how to spell"

I saw this theaters back in 2010 with my mom since my mom loved Eddie Murphy since she was kid. I recently turned 8 years old when this came theaters because this came to theaters on May 21st, a day after my birthday which is May 20th, now I’m 21 and I still love this movie! I also discovered Shrek back in 2008 and I had no idea they were making a fourth movie until I saw a tv spot for it when I was watching SpongeBob.

I like this one more than the third. Giving our favorite green ogre the "It's A Wonderlife" journey for him due to a mid-life crisis.
I liked that Rumplestiltskin being the plan B for Fioanna's parents who almost signed their kingdom over to him but was robbed at the last possible moment.
So did they half imply Fairy Godmother cursed Fionna in the first place

If i was magical like Rumplestiltskin, i would be more friendly and helpful than he was. I would be like a good version of a magic man, you know to help people and solve problems. But that's just my opinion.
I have seen this movie so many times to the point i know it word for word and song for song ! but damn the ending always makes me cry. it’s just such a good movie ! it’s definitely better than the third but the third is still decent.

Given the previous and this were about the families, it makes sense the 5th will be about Puss having his own children or child but I prefer child so it's more just an heir and would have less focus or need for voices as well as feel better atleast to me.

Now that we've reached the (supposed) end of the Shrek film series, i have to say that Shrek 2 was the peak movie of the 4. 3 and 4 felt kinda weak to me. Don't get me wrong, I still enjoyed them both.
