Fun fact: The "bare minimum" of a hamster cage is actually 450 sq inches, which is about 3 square feet! Those little guys need a surprising amounf of space Not so fun fact: Most hamster cages in pet stores are... appallingly small
This was a great video. I am an animal lover. I have experience with chinchillas, guinea pigs, cats, dogs and birds. I have been researching hedgehogs for a few months. I've been thinking about adding a hedgie to our home. This was probably the most helpful video I've watched for expectations. And I actually decided to wait until my kids are older. I know I will take care of the animal but I still want my kids to enjoy.
This is the most helpful video I’ve watched so far as we dive into lots of researching before deciding what pet is the right fit for our son. Thank you!
My husband's on his way to get 5 babies rn, so I really appreciate your video! Very informative, thank you!! I'm very excited to meet our new hedgies 🥰
So is it fine to get my hedgehog out numerous times during day to interact. I just got him yesterday so I was letting him relax from transport trauma. But I want to have a good relationship with my hedgie
Lost my pooch a few months back and finding myself overwhelmed with bordem and talking to myself. I'm not ready and maybe never will be ready to get another pooch....but need something more than a fish or hamster to talk to. I've owned ferrets in the past and great....my last one past in my hoodie pocket. From old age......and been researching headgehogs past few weeks...trying to learn and see.....I'm getting mixed reviews watching videos
I’ve been wanting to own a hedgy. I’m 16 rn and will be in school for 2 more years, plan on going to community college but will live with my mom for a while, I hope I can own a hedgy one day 😭
My boyfriend and I are super interested in getting a lil hedgey boy. He really likes the white quills of a pinto, and it's been hard to find anything but traditional color hedgehogs in our area. Winston is such a BEAUTIFUL little critter. Where on earth did you get him? And are you able to make any recommendations on road travel with a hedgehog in case we need to go out of our area to find our special buddy?
6:01 "Two hedgehogs together, they are going to fight to the death." NOPE! You're absolutely wrong. I had as many as 11 girls living together, ditto for 8 boys in large kiddie plastic wading pools (as a big open place to live) with boxes and pipes and such to enjoy, and I often found all 11 or 8 crammed together inside just one box, sleeping contently. By the way, they were not trying to survive freezing temps or anything like that; they just liked each other's company.
ok i have two more questions to ask because i might get one so when you take them to the vet do they need an exotic vet since there exotic pets or can you just take them to any vet my other question is if you need to take them to an exotic vet is it expensive also
@@SandraHernandez-id3uz you’ll need to ask the vet if they know how to examine a hedgehog yes. There’s not many exotic vets in my town. Vet visits are often over $200 in my town because they most likely need sedated in order to be examined.

Exciting! Hedgehogs don’t do well caged together so make sure they have their own cages/cage dividers :)
@@DarbyImperi I will! He should be getting home any minute with them now, I'm sooo excited! ☺️ Thanks so much for the advice I really appreciate it!
@@leahmonaghan6469 i had a female for 2 years and have had my male for a year now. Thanks so much.
Great video and emphasis on people doing research before getting one :)

It took me 5 years to get a new hedgehog after losing my first. I totally get it! I’m sorry for your loss.

do you think dead crickets would be good for them?
Anyone got any ideas for convincing your parents to get a hedgehog?
hamsters should not be in small cages either they need over 400 sq inches

ARE HEDGEHOGS EXSPENSIVE?
Up front costs could run you between $500-$800 but after that, just food is needed!

Can't see your video
I would love to have a owl as a pet. I just don’t want to feed or clean up after.
Everything is illegal in California besides homicide.
You copied this video from that other girl, almost every word is the same.
What other girl?
