Yes and Yes! :) I think CDP can also be a great investment for the cellars (great ageing potential and possibly even see a price increase in future), BUT because it is quite affordable and approachable in its youth, so many are drunk quite young. What I mean, higher price range often serves as a buffer, when You are looking for wine to open in Your long-time cellar!

I wonder what is the average tax for wines like these, are they more expensive because of the elevated alcohol? CdP is not particularly cheap here in Europe as well but might be amongst of the more accessible of premium wine category, if compared to high end Bordeaux, Burgundy or even neighbouring Northern Rhone. 🥹

Hi there! I was curious if you had any personal opinion on when the reds from C9dP hits their sweet spot in terms of aging from the release? I've personally always felt like I've appreciated aged c9dp's a bit more I feel like, and since I recently got a hold of a magnum sized Château De Beaucastel 2020 I'm sort of having an internal debate on how long to save it. 2020 does look as a decent vintage as far as I can see so 10-20 years shouldn't be any problem no? Would've been interesting if you had any input or general suggestion regarding said bottle 😊
Hi, thank You for the comment! 🙏🏻 I actually think that CdP drinks quite nicely at an very early stage, it rarely seems closed or hard. But it would take some 8-12 years for them to develop aromatic complexity that would include mushrooms, forrest floor and herbal spices. Magnums, of course should age even slower than that. 🙌 Also Beucastel is a top tier producer, therefore no doubts there, but 2020 vintage is often described as not best suited for long term ageing. So I wouldn’t go as long as 20 years, but that is just my opinion. 🍷 Cheers!
I am a big fan of CnP blanc. 👍👍. I’ll try to find the one (and that 100% Grenache too😎) you mentioned, but I have to say my current favorite is the Janasse from the Southern Rhône and Domaine Coursodon Le Paradis Saint Pierre Blanc in Saint Joseph. Thank you!

Very interesting wine..style? The only Rhone wines I have drank are Cote'd Rhone style of wines. Based on my little knowledge of french, this is the coast of the Rhone. Not sure if it is the coast of the Med that the Rhone empties into or just the coast of the river as runs through France.
Côtes du Rhône are actually a great introduction into Châteauneuf-du-Pape wines. If You like those, You might also enjoy the latter. The grapes are similar (both are blends usually based on Grenache) and for Côtes du Rhône the grapes are usually also sourced from the Southern Rhone. 🍷🍷💥
Some call it the little brother appellation of Chateauneuf-du-Pape, yet I think it can really offer a great bargain, especially if You know the TOP producers! 💪
To be honest I only recently truly fell in love with Rhone wines (whites I liked for a while though), and I agree with You. Majority of them offer great value! 🍷

So let’s count: in theory we have Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, Cinsault, Clairette, Vaccarèse, Bourboulenc, Roussanne, Counoise, Muscardin, Picpoul, Picardin and Terret Noir? But, if we count Grenache Blanc and Gris (Rose) as a separate grapes as most do? And those are allowed, then number goes up. So this is where the confusion was. Maybe I should have said, depending on how You count - there are 13 or more grapes allowed..
@@NoSediment You're wright, there are Grenache white, grenache red etc. But it is admitted to be 13 grapes (for the different "families" of grapes without making difference between white and red) :)

7 consecutive popes were based in Avignon,, it was the center of the roman catholic church.. avignon and sourrounding area.. beautiful
