    I'm caught between the Hummingbird and the Dove. Both sound equally epic. The price of both is in my opinion a steal.

    • @blakeoms
      @blakeoms 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I agree 100% however the humming-bird has a much more comfortable neck for fast power chord strumming and it has a thinner neck compared to the dove pro. I spent a lot of time between the dove and the humming bird and I love them both equally. the humming bird neck is faster and sounds warmer while the dove sounds bright and has a BIG voice.
      They both have beautiful voices and I'm going to save up to buy them both in the long run

    I also keep Gibson light gauge 12 53 on my humming bird because I like the sound of those strings on this particular epiphone and I probably would put them on the dove too

  • @feet57
    @feet57 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    thanks, I'm leaning away from this - stunner - think the Fenders maple accoustic 356 oration sound betters, this also this lacks the cutaway which I want for higher fret access. The maple really delivers that soaking up of the percussion -filters it away- nice soft attack but clean. Dove Wins on visual and price hands down..

      I own one and my EKO sounds muuuuch better. The dove pro has no volume at all, unbalanced between highs and lows. If you want a nice looking guitar ok, if you want to play and record...no!

    • @PaulWilliamGibson
      @PaulWilliamGibson  4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Patricia Sáinz If I had a choice again I’d go for the Hummingbird as it has mahogany back and sides, which sounds a bit warmer and less bright than the Dove with its maple back and sides. Personal taste really. In my experience a brighter acoustic works better in a band or with other instruments and a warmer acoustic works better solo with just a voice which is what I do. Good luck and thanks for commenting x

    This is a great guitar for the price. I own a Gibson Hummingbird Studio which is $2,000 USD and obviously there is a huge difference when I play this and the Epiphone but man for only $300.00 USD that I paid for the Dove you can't beat it. Throw on some Gibson J200 ultra light strings and make that guitar sing.

    I bought an Epiphone Dove Pro and I was disappointed in the sound. I like the build quality (Indonesian) so I straightened the neck a little,redressed the frets and bought a bone saddle that I lowered and the sound difference is amazing.

    I think the newer Epiphone acoustics are closer to Gibson sound, I have the dove which I changed the saddle with a tusk brand saddle and it's now a keeper sounding guitar. Had a n Epiphone masterbuilt AJ500R rosewood that wasn't anywhere close to a Gibson Advanced jumbo sound, way too dark sounding.

  • @ronnieneo
    @ronnieneo 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Can you bar the first fret easily? Some acoustics are a nightmare at the first fret and need the action lowered, so how is the dove? I think it's a bargain, for what you pay it looks and sounds great.

    • @PaulWilliamGibson
      @PaulWilliamGibson  6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Mr Blue Sky Hi, the factory set up was very good, barre chords at the first fret are easy and comfortable. No problems at all with playability or build quality of this lovely guitar.
