  • A lake flowing with a mysterious liquid? A Volcano that erupts frozen magma? An iceberg floating in solid ice? What NASA's New Horizons spacecraft discovered on Pluto, the icy dwarf planet towards the edge of the solar system is stunning. So many unexpected features were seen on the icy world, some of which scientists still can't explain today. Join me as we look at the most surprising features discovered on Pluto so far.

Hello Good morning, excellent video, I love the planet Pluto, it has been my favorite planet since I was a child, and even today at 40 years old, and what makes me sad is that it is no longer the ninth planet in the solar system, that is many years ago, and if I'm not mistaken, more or less more than 15 years ago it is no longer there, now it is a dwarf planet, and please what is the name of the song that plays at the end of the video?, I loved it, and I thank you for information about this song, and congratulations on the work, successes always for you, I'm going to subscribe to the channel, and you gained a subscribed friend from Brazil, and much peace and best regards from São Paulo SP Brazil, and may GOD bless you ^^.

The fact a probe was sent to Pluto and I got to see what it looks like in my lifetime, I'll cherish that for the rest of my life. If Pluto remains planet 9, would you define Ceres, Makemake, Quaoar, Sedna, Orcus, Haumea, Gongong, and Eris as planets? They are all drawf-planets roughly the same size and orbit the sun. What about comets? Where do you draw the line? We can't just keep Pluto a planet because we like it. Pluto reflects light very well, so we believed it to be much larger for a long time. Sometimes size does matter as much as you don't want to admit it.

I still have my old astronomy books, mostly showing Pluto as a boring and inert cratered ball no different from Mercury or the Moon, but colder this time. But after New Horizon visited it 6.5 years ago (gosh I'm old), Pluto turned out to be more beautiful and dynamic than we could ever have possibly imagined before that. I myself was shocked to see the glaciers, the icebergs, the convection cells and the ice mountains, as well as Pluto's blue atmosphere no different from Earth's but very thin only.

Thank you for using both Imperial units - (miles) and metrics - (kilometers), in your narration, unlike the BBC's Sky at Night - which only uses kilometres for some reason. Using both methods of measuring distance is more inclusive, as helps everyone understand and appreciate the scale of this amazing place we live, the universe.

I remember you making a video about Neptune with similar descriptions of cryovolcanic activity and hidden underground lakes.. It almost seems like even frozen planets somehow have a heated core surrounded by a cooler crust.
This really gives a different perspective on the outer planets we previously thought were just floating balls of solid ice. (Magic Schoolbus springs to mind)

I like to imagine that Pluto and other planets are just out there right now when I'm lying on my couch and write this comment. It must be so cold and windy there. Watching videos about the universe also helps me to realize how nonsense some of my "problems" are.

We were in awe of jupier size, saturn ring, uranus weird cloud and neptunes beauty. Then the final planet in our solar system that we demoted due to stupid reason was revealed and what did we see? its heart as it greeted us.
It almost as if pluto was saying “what took you guys? Im your biggest fan! you made it!”
