In this episode I've made it to Anor Londo, but decide to backtrack to fight a giant wolf named Sif. After participating in probably the saddest bossfight I've ever taken part in we head back to Anor Londo and fight through my favorite place in the game so far and what's waiting for us at the end will take your breathe away.

For anyone reading this who doesnt know, if u wait for the famous two archers by the window to stop shooting behind that pillar, the left side archer will reposition and not shoot the player when facing the right hand side archer
The silver knights are what finally taught me how to parry. So much easier to parry them than to fight around their shields.

if you kill smoug last you get his soul and if you kill ornstein last you get his soul
so first off huge respect for defeating O&S first try, so the reason you didn't get Orenstein's soul is because you get the soul of who ever you beat second, and who ever is defeat first has their power transferred to the other.
Second a little lore, yes smough was laughing, and he is Executioner Smough, but he also goes by Smough the Cannibal and though unfortunately some debri was in the way of the cut scene, when smough slams his hammer on Orenstein to take his power he was still alive, in the scene his fingers are still moving.
Interesting information: you can make the Sif fight MORE emotionally damaging!
Is it possible to do that on the first play through?

@@Animedingo 4 kings aren't a prerequisite to the dlc and neither is sif. you can take it on as soon as you place the lordvessel since that unlocks the crystal golem in the archives. making ornstein and smough the last boss you absolutely need to defeat to enter the dlc. you can, in theory, save both sif and the kings till right before gwyn.
Okay, someone else might have said it, but I couldn't find it.
If you're 2-handing a weapon, you get a 50% boost to your strength requirement. you could actually 2-hand the Dragon's Tooth with only 27 strength, and you could still wield and do damage with it. The 40 strength is only if you want to swing it 1-handed. By all means, please boost endurance, and if you're worried about equip load, the Ring of Favor and Protection paired with Havel's Ring will kick ass, but please keep that in mind if you want to save your level ups for endurance.
Another thing to keep in mind: Upgrade materials. That will require Dragon Scales, of which there are only few scattered around unless you join the dragon covenant and pvp, which I do not recommend. the only place I can think to farm them is in the Valley of the Drakes, but I doubt you'll want to try that lol.
Also, there are two ways to say the name of your weapon. it's actually based off of the German word 2-hander, so it is technically pronounced ZVIE-HANDER, but people usually use ZWHY-HANDER
Not only does sif limp on low hp, they also fall over when doing their big swings and squirm on the floor in pain
Theres also alternate cutscene for pupper boss if you go through certain route which just adds to the sadness
If you want access to a secret boss, you must forsake the FANTASTIC CHEST and throw a firebomb or something at her. It will change anor londo, net you another firekeeper soul. And the darkmoon chamber at the bottom of the lift will be a boss. Also theres a giant painting in anor londo that takes ypu to a new area. Cheers!
I thought you could go get the darkmoon seance ring and fight them like that? "Killing" the lady isn't necessary.
Fun fact: this double helix staircase in Anor Londo is the copy of an actually existing staircase, found in Château de Chambord, an architecturally interesting and impressive castle in France
At the same time you can perform on it one of, if not, the easiest and most convenient skip in the whole trilogy

Be sure to check out how that Giant Blacksmith "modifies" your weapons. Different smiths do different modifications.
You get a different Soul depending on which you kill last.
Small detail that is easy to miss, you can see the bonfire after Anor Londo archers through the windows while you're up there fighting them.
No way I just witnessed a Ornstein and Smough first try and Gwynevere in the same video. We are truly blessed.

29:58 When you are in your inventory, there is a "Change order" option. You can move your weapon or whatever consumamble you need to the very top of the list, so you don't need to spend time finding it

So to upgrade your Zweihander to +6, you gotta go back to Andre because he has the large ember, and you go to modify equipment instead of reinforce, and you’ll use your large titanite to upgrade to +6. Once you do that, go back to reinforce and you can upgrade up to +10z

19:45 Another way to tell if its a mimic or not is to watch to see if its breathing. Its mouth opens slightly every now and then.
Yo bass. FYI. O&S we’re both member at of the private army of Gwyn. There were 5 of them. Now the funny part. You said smough is a monster because of executing with a hammer. Well smough lost is title as one of the five because he ate every singe one he executed.
Fun fact Ornstien was still alive when smough executed him. You can see him moving in the cutscene (your view was blocked)

A tip about blacksmiths and equip unpgrading.
Every smith has his own upgrade paths for weapons. There's four smiths in the game. Andre can make +15 weapons, divine, occult, and raw weapons. Giant you just met can make boss weapons(+10 weapon of the same type as boss's and their soul), lighting, and crystal weapons. There's also one that can make fire and chaos weapons. And finally, there's one that can make magic and enchanted weapons. In my first playthrough that I just finished, I used only the standard upgrade path(+15), cuz all other paths downgrade or remove weapon damage scaling from str and dex. And I made only one weapon from a boss soul. Also you can't use these paths to upgrade armor, it has only a single path. Pieces that upgrade with regular titanite can be upgraded to +10, ones with twinkling to +5 and some can't be upgraded at all.
And then there are the Dragon Weapons which need Dragon Scales to upgrade. I actually upgraded a divine Zweihander as a secondary weapon. Made Graveyard and Tombs a walk in the park. 😊
@thorstensenger1526 I used +15 zwei , big shield of artorias and elite knight set(after Nito paladin set) as a main build and straight sword of astora, grass crest shield and chaos daughter set(later pyromant set) as secondary build.

There is another secret area within Anor Londo, but you're not going to like how to access it. That beautiful woman who gave you the lord vessel. You must kill her first in order to access it. It will be at the very bottom area of the spinning staircase outside of the castle.
Not to mention you still need to do the secret world within the painting inside of the church of Anor Londo. Use the information from my comment in the previous video.
Psst, to upgrade your weapons past +5 you need to modify them into a +6 via the modify weapon category.
Also, congrats! Youve officially gotten to the halfway point of the game, and have defeated one of the most infamous Dark souls bosses. (if you'd have killed Smough first, ornstein would have absorbed him and then when you killed him you would have gotten his soul, and a unique ring. And the option to buy his armor rather smoughs.)
Edit: One last thing, not only did smough execute people with a great hammer. He also... uh... well, lets just say he had uh... unique tastes.
Edit #2 casue I just remembered this: The backstory behind Gwynevere looking so beautiful is that Miyazaki wanted initially to make her a very motherly figure. An artist misinterpreted this as MILF rather than motherly. So he spent dozens of hours of over time making this beautiful painting/model for her and despite it not really being what he wanted, Miyazaki couldnt find it in his heart to tell him that the design wouldnt work; so they just kept it in.

It annoys me more than anything how much people spoil things for people trying to do a blind playthrough, like let them have their first experience just like we all had dont give them tips about hidden items and traps and areas just let them discover it all for themselves its what makes watching blind playthroughs so much fun reliving the experience.
I get what you're trying to say but also, would you rather be as lost as the players who also had zero clue of what to do because of the game hiding certain things and giving you no direction towards certain places? This game is a perfect example of that. People get lost and stuck often because it mercilessly doesn't give you a map for directions and help for any future boss fights and encounters. Giving tips and help is not bad to any extent at all. I myself have played Dark Souls blind. Was it fun? Fuck no, I had to circle and get lost all throughout Lordran all while coming back as fast as possible after dying numerous times because this game punishes you with its unforgiving challenges. It's exhausting and dizzying. Because of that, I had to search up for guides because like I said, the game doesn't warn you about anything, nor tell you about tips, and nor its secrets. Entertaining it may be, but no way is it actually fun to miss out on so many things, especially if vital for your playthrough to improve upon. As if missing something important from Blighttown and coming back there from Sen's Fortress is actually fun. There are many things people do not know of that they do need to know in the game because it doesn't even tell you anything, unless of course you are playing in an online server. Still, to give tips in a game like Dark Souls is in no way shape or form a bad thing.
Edit: also, people such as myself do not tell everything. We simply give some important info to know about. I never told Bass about Sen's traps because I knew he would know how to handle those himself. I never spoiled him the story either, and neither have his fans. If anything, his playthrough is still blind. We only give help when needed because it's impossible to even discover some things alone without having another person tell you about them. Missing an ember worth for enhancing weapons isn't satisfying.

Some people just like to ruin the fun for others.
I think vague tips are ok, like “maybe revisit x place and look around.” But anything more than that isnt great. Like you say missing certain things isn’t fun so some tips are nice. But yeah nothing more than that.

Taking those silver knight archers in melee. You're more of a masochist than I am these days. I've done it that way, but now I always bring a bow and about 500 arrows to pick them off regardless of the build I'm playing.

When I encountered silver knights after the bonfire with Solaire my gut told me it's time to learn how to parry and I probably just got lucky, but it's honestly the best spot to learn parrying and best enemies for it too. Made the game a cakewalk though 😅

Remember when Andre said that he couldn't use the large ember and you needed to find another blacksmith?
Also, you only get the soul of the last one you kill in the Ornstein and Smough fight, and it's generally harder to kill Smough first because Ornstein is so aggressive, and also Ornstein phase 2 is a lot harder than Smough phase 2. I tortured myself my first playthrough doing it that way because I wanted Ornstein's soul specifically (friend of mine who got me into the game told me about this). Still, seriously grats on getting them down your first time. I always have so much trouble with that fight, even on replays.
Try jumping off the elevator form gargoyles to fire link, and then spin the anor londo staircase down and see what you find

Glad i helped make a difference with the chests. This ones important its a quality of life tip imo. youre going to hate this boss with a breakaway floor with quit and save check points. Youll know when the time comes which boss i mean. People say its random but most of its attacks can be predicted if u stand back and watch. Or if u ask ill straigjt up tell u how to get thru the bosses attacks cuz i havent seen it on youtube

Other funny detail is that when you "kill" Ornstein first, you can actually see him move slightly as Smough finishes him off
Your Zweihander is probably at +5 already, you need to get the large ember in the catacombs (you already probably did) talk to andre and give it to him (which you might've done too) and then modify your zweihander to +6 in order to upgrade it up to +10. I can't remember where, but there is also the very large ember that puts your weapon to +11 and then you upgrade it up to +15
You can tell if it’s a fake chest aka mimic if the chain on the ground by the chest is facing forward of you. If it’s facing behind the chest it’s a real one.

Really really hope you go back n find the secret area in the Blighttown swamp. Now that youve ability to warp to certain bonfires its much much less risky to make that particular journey

O&S is the best fight in DS1 in my opinion. Two of the DLC bosses are top notch also. Well done taking them down on the first try. If you kill Smough first you get a powered up Orstein for the second phase (arguably the harder of the two) but phase one is the real fight. I find that not using the lock on really helps in phase one personally.
Just finished DS1 for the first time recently myself and this series has been a blast! Definitely Subscribing.

Dunno if anyone elsw pointed this out in the comments but the giant blacksmith in Anor Londo can forge you boss weapons. Best wpns in game imo... you just need to reinforce a wpn to +10 and have a boss soul on you. You can make a mean greatsword with Sifs soul.

you can do a jump attack by pressing right trigger + forward on the movement stick at the same time. try it with right bumper for a kick that staggers shields and knocks back enemies
also buy the armor reinforce and armor repair to upgrade on the go
Also, I think both these guys make cameos in a later game.
just a note all those embers you collected can be used at blacksmiths to “modify” your weapon more. lovin the play through so far hope you do the other games after this
