    I love David Gilmour and Frusciante because they're not worried about playing riffs at break neck speeds, but because they put their souls into their music.

      To each their own but I hate how people think fast music means no emotion. People playing fast music portray music in their own way and they play music they love.

    • @GraphiteBlimp27
      @GraphiteBlimp27 7 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      JDMusic Agreed. A good example is Jimmy Page, live he plays fast runs but it's intermixed with Gilmour-esque sexy blues phrases. Jimmy can always hit the "orgasm notes" too. Of course there are other players but I love him because he does both well.

    As a guitarist, I have an extremely high regard for how unique his approach has been in incorporating funk into the rock scene. Trying to model his playing and understand his perspective can really help make any guitarist more dynamic.

      Kurt V 100% agree. Among my favourite guitar players there were some "shredders" like Vai, Yngwie etc, but only years later the analysis of Frusciante's guitar playing bought my playing skills to a completely higher level.

      Before he joined RHCP he didn't really do funk riffs, he incorporated them as he went along.

  • @mrbsred1
    @mrbsred1 9 ปีที่แล้ว +27

    Inspirational! It's just goes to show that music doesn't have to be perfect. It's all about the groove and feel. I hear so many Jimi riffs/licks. People like John keep his spirit alive and that's coming from an atheist, so I'm confused, sort of.

    • @mrbsred1
      @mrbsred1 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Matt Mullaney I hear you, but there is a credible science behind it. I am a flexible atheist too and do feel different emotions of extremes either way. Music is my God as the good man Jimi once said. Keep smiling mate :-)

    • @EarlKrempe
      @EarlKrempe 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      mrbsred1 If "music is your god" like you say than you would be considered agnostic, not an athiest.

    • @mrbsred1
      @mrbsred1 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      EarlKrempe Actually, being agnostic is like saying "I don't know what to believe, I'm so confused". If God was real he/she is a knobhead for being completely useless after creating the universe in the dark. Quite a cowardly ass-turd. As I don't subscribe to this, or and Godly figure, that makes me an atheist. An atheist doesn't necessarily believe in nothing and can easily be (in my case at least) moved by emotions and energy, one of those energies being music. Music is not a God, but it's the closet thing to my God. Big difference.

    • @Codgerism
      @Codgerism 9 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      mrbsred1 Agnosticism isn't like saying "I don't know what to believe, I'm so confused" it's saying "I don't know if there is or isn't a god and nobody else knows if there is or isn't a god. It is unknowable and therefore pointless to form an opinion either way. All of these people saying they know one way or another are kidding themselves". It's about intellectual honesty and is far from confusion. Other than that I agree with you 100%.

      @GraphiteBlimp27 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Caprise Adams Not sure the intent about the terrible person part, but as for thievery- blame Plant for lyrics, all the riffs are original as far as I'm aware, and some songs, yes, are probably not different enough to warrant being their own songs. They should have given writers credit as well on those... but what are ya gonna do. They thought those tunes were different enough.

    • @Cordy712
      @Cordy712 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      He raped a 14 year old girl and held her hostage until she turned 18 so he couldn't get in legal trouble.
      It's not hard to google what songs Zeppelin ripped off. "Led Zeppelin's 10 Boldest Rip-Offs"
      If you're a big enough Zeppelin fan, go look up She Moved Through The Fair by Davey Graham.
      Black Mountain Side is Bert Jansch's Down by Blackwaterside.
      I don't need to excuse their thievery to say that Page is an excellent guitarist and was a good enough guitar lick writer to have been as famous as they were. I don't know why he had to steal other people's songs except greed. But raping a child isn't forgivable. I learned how to play guitar just so I could play Black Dog, but now I can't even listen to Zeppelin songs anymore.

      Because he'd never play it. John only plays vintage guitars like that guitar there I may be wrong but i think it's his 1964 strat and i think it's all original so really he plays vintage stock guitars so because theres no customisation there would be no point in giving him a signiture line. Plus I don't think john would be interested in endorsing a guitar line because he played many different makes of guitar and now he only makes electronic music so he's really out of the guitar playing scene.

    Such a skilful guitarist and you can tell from listening to him he's a real musical scholar. Doesn't get enough respect there's not a lot of guitarists as good as Frusciante around these days.

    He was a prodigy at the guitar when he was a teen. He would walk into record stores and blow people's minds because of the hendrix songs he could play at such a young age.Growing up he would spend 14-18 hours a day playing the guitar. He even did that after joining the band. He even said in a recent interview that nothing has really changed since than as far as the time he puts into music. HE'S GOOD in every way you can think. Even if he doesn't show it on purpose.

    A lot of people hate on stadium arcadium, but in my humble it's one of their masterpieces. Also, if you listen how John adds textures to songs as they progress (as in from 1st chorus, to second, etc) it's quite masterful.
