  • TORQUAY | Full tour of holiday seaside town Torquay Devon from marina to Torquay beach.
Torquay, close to Paignton and Brixham, is a jewel in the crown of the English Riviera with everything you need for a great seaside holiday. Torquay is a popular Devon seaside holiday destination for many reasons from the beach to the boat trips.
Boasting a beautiful coastline with sheltered bays and sandy beaches, Torquay is perfect for relaxation, paddling, swimming, and water sports. Families will love the safe and shallow waters of Meadfoot Beach, while adventurers can try out kayaking, sailing, or even jet skiing at Torquay Harbour.
Thanks to its sheltered location and the warming influence of the Gulf Stream, Torquay enjoys a generally mild climate, making it a great destination year-round. Spring and summer are ideal for enjoying the beaches and outdoor activities.
Torquay is a haven for families. The abundance of beaches provides endless opportunities for sandcastle building, paddling, and rock pooling. Kids will also love the amusement parks, like the Living Coasts coastal zoo, and the Babbacombe Model Village
Steeped in history, Torquay boasts a wealth of cultural attractions. Explore the historic Torre Abbey, a 12th-century monastery with beautiful gardens showcasing plants mentioned in Agatha Christie's novels. Delve into the region's maritime heritage at the Torquay Museum, or visit the Agatha Christie Birthplace, where the Queen of Crime spent her early years and draw inspiration for her detective stories.
Torquay's lively town center offers something for everyone. Stroll along the picturesque harborside lined with shops, cafes, restaurants, and traditional pubs serving delicious Devonshire cream teas. Explore the bustling harbor and watch the boats come and go, or take a boat trip along the coast for stunning views.
Throughout the year, Torquay hosts a variety of events and festivals, catering to all interests. The annual Agatha Christie Festival is a highlight for crime fiction enthusiasts, with dramatizations, talks, and exhibitions celebrating her work.
Torquay is a gateway to stunning natural beauty. Explore the rugged limestone cliffs of Torquay seafront or take a scenic walk along the South West Coast Path, offering breathtaking coastal views. Venture further afield to Dartmoor National Park, a vast area of granite moorland with hiking trails.
Torquay's location makes it a perfect base for exploring the wider English Riviera. Visit the neighboring towns of Paignton and Brixham, known for their beaches, harbours, and fresh seafood restaurants. Explore the picturesque villages of Devon or take a day trip to Exeter, the historic capital of Devon boasting a magnificent cathedral and Roman walls.
Explore the prehistoric world at Kents Cavern, a network of caves revealing evidence of human habitation dating back over 40,000 years. Believed to be one of Britain's oldest prehistoric homes, the caves offer a glimpse into the lives of early settlers.
Encounter marine life from around the world at Living Coasts, a coastal zoo showcasing penguins, sharks, otters, and much more. Walk through underwater tunnels to observe marine creatures in their recreated habitats and learn about conservation efforts.
Step into a miniature world at the Babbacombe Model Village, featuring over 400 miniature buildings depicting iconic landmarks from around the world, including Buckingham Palace, the Eiffel Tower, and even the Tower of London. Don't miss the miniature recreations of local landmarks like Torquay Harbour and Agatha Christie's holiday home.
Explore the ruins of a 12th-century monastery and its beautiful gardens at Torre Abbey. The abbey offers a fascinating glimpse into monastic life, with exhibitions detailing its history and architecture. The surrounding gardens are a haven of peace and tranquility, boasting a variety of plants and flowers, some featured in the works of Agatha Christie.
Delve into the region's history and maritime heritage at the Torquay Museum. The museum houses a collection of archaeological finds, social history exhibits, and maritime artifacts, showcasing the town's development from a small fishing village to a popular seaside resort.
Visit the house where Agatha Christie, the Queen of Crime, was born and spent her early

I love torbay and lost count of how many times I have holiday and long week ended there, it has a lot to appreciate but looking back, in a positive way it needs the markets, street entertainment, maybe encourage car shows, these types of inexpensive events in and around the area to add some appeal add draw in new visitors who could add to the economy.

Thanks for yet another magnificent tour of an English coastal resort town. Torquay has impressed town planners down here
in Australia. There is a coastal town down south in Victoria been given the same name. And up here in Queensland a lovely
beach in Hervey Bay on the Coral Sea coast is called Torquay. I am drawn to beaches and coastal towns as I find them so
relaxing whilst there are still exciting things on offer if required. I also agree with your comment on videoing the positive
aspects on offer. There are too many negatives being aired on TH-cam. Let's share smiles and sunshine!

Don’t get the negativity of the locals in Torquay. They only have the same issues as most other UK towns these days but it’s such a beautiful place. My children love it and hopefully we are going to relocate our family to there one day.
I’d even go as far to say that it’s probably my most favourite place in the entire country.

I've lived in Torquay for a decade having escaped London, I have seen a decline over that time. boarded up shops, more drunks, more street sleepers and more young yobs, the front and harbour are still quite nice but move away and it is a toilet, thinking of coming for a holiday? Don't waste your money.
