- Harvey Brownstone conducts an in-depth Interview with the Legendary Ann-Margret
About Harvey's guests:
Today’s special guest, Ann-Margret, is a legendary actress, singer, dancer, and recording artist who’s been dazzling audiences for over 6-decades.
On the big screen, she starred in many iconic films including “Pocketful of Miracles”, “State Fair”, “Bye Bye Birdie”, “Viva Las Vegas”, “Carnal Knowledge”, “Tommy”, “The Cincinnati Kid”, “I Ought to be in Pictures”, “52 Pick-Up”, “Grumpy Old Men”, “GRUMPIER Old Men”, “Queen Bees” and many more.
On television, you’ve seen her in dozens of sitcoms, variety shows, TV specials, movies and miniseries including “Who Will Love My Children”, “The Two Mrs. Grenvilles”, “Life of the Party”, “A Streetcar Named Desire”, “Perfect Murder, Perfect Town”, “Blonde”, and of course, her recurring roles in “Ray Donovan” and “The Kominsky Method”.
She headlined in Las Vegas for decades and has toured all over the world with her exciting live show. She’s received 2 Academy Award nominations and 2 Grammy Award nominations, and she’s won 5 Golden Globe Awards, an Emmy Award, 2 Photoplay Awards and 3 Golden Apple Awards. And for her contributions to the film industry, she received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
She’s recorded 14 albums, including her latest album released earlier this year, entitled, “Born to be Wild”, featuring guest appearances from Joe Perry, Pete Townsend, Cliff Richard, and our recent guest Pat Boone among many others.
Our guest’s longstanding commitment to the men and women of the American military is well known and admired by all. In the 60s she toured 3 times with the USO to Vietnam and Southeast Asia, performing for tens of thousands of servicemen. In 2003, the USO honored her with its Spirit of Hope award, and in 2005, she appeared at the Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada, to welcome troops home from Iraq and Afghanistan.
And now, she’s produced a new Ann-Margret perfume, available online at ANNMARGRETPERFUME.COM, with all profits going to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund. Last year, she was awarded an honorary doctorate by the University of Nevada. And she’s also been awarded the highest honor from her native Sweden.
She’s a Commander of the Royal Order of the Polar Star. And most recently, she received the Living Legend Award from the Women's Image Network. And if all of that weren’t enough, let me add that Empire magazine ranked our guest as number 10 on its list of the 100 Sexiest movie stars all time.

Ann Margret, you have brought so much joy and happiness to millions of Americans, including me, with your talent. Thank you so much.
Amen ❤😊
So glad you enjoyed our show.
Ann Margret is a Class Act. An extremely talented entertainer. I love all her work. Ann Margret is an American National Treasure.
She sure is! Thanks for watching.
Harvey; you bring us the most gracious and kind talents to us; thank you!
It’s my absolute pleasure. Thank you so much for watching.
So excited to see this one! You offered some great questions, resulting in a fantastic interview. Ann-Margret and her awesome career have meant so much to me as well, from her standout work in films such as "Bye, Bye Birdie," "Viva Las Vegas," "Carnal Knowledge," "Tommy," etc. to her notable television output (I was so glad she finally won that Emmy after many nominations). I was able to see her in person last year at the TCM Festival showing of "Bye, Bye Birdie," wherein a cake was brought out and the entire audience sang "Happy Birthday" to her after she gave a nice interview; it was a dream come true and one of the best experiences ever at the movies- thank you, Ann-Margret!
That’s so wonderful that you got to see her in person. She’s a wonderful human being. Thanks for watching and for your beautiful comments!❤️
What a survivor! The lady's got talent, class and a good measure of spunk!

Got to meet both Ann-Margret and Roger Smith backstage after a performance of Best Little Whorehouse some years ago...very kind and gracious people.
My mom loved her!
What about you? Did you love her?
@@harveybrownstoneinterviews8980 oh, yes, Harvey! SURE DID! Very much! There was a Touched By An Angel episode called Millennium! I tell you, you gotta watch that episode, because that was one of the best episodes and best of Ann-Margaret’s acting TV show history!! DEFINITELY! Loved your interview.
@ONSTAGEMUSICPODCAST thanks so much.
I loved her and still do! Girl crush
Good interview. It was a treat to see Ann-Margret. She looks great. Hope she follows your suggestion and updates her autobiography.
I sure hope she does update her book!
Thanku SO much for this, have loved AM since i was four (55 now) & first saw her in State Fair! Awesome talent-some amazing performances, not to mention great vocalist, fantastic dancer & all-round nice person-would have loved her to win an Oscar for either nomination, if only just to prove the nay-sayers wrong!! Thanku again!
Thanks so much for watching and for your beautiful comments!❤️
Ann-Margret is such an amazing talent with such an incomparable career. Just remarkable! And apparently she doesn’t age. Such a thrilling interview with a true all time great! Astonishing.
Yes she really is so amazing. It was such a thrill to meet her!!! Thanks for watching our show. Please subscribe to our TH-cam channel and get your friends to subscribe too!!!
My favorites, Tommy and The Two Mrs. Grenvilles. One of the brightest classic stars, still sparkling. Queen Bees was fun.
Wow she looks absolutely incredible. Hasn’t aged a day! Thanks for this wonderful interview, it was a real treat.
Thank you so much for watching.
I watch most of your interviews and was amazed that you had the wonderful Ann Margret as believe it or not I told her about you many months ago. I don’t know if she took my suggestion about you since I raved about how professional and down to earth you are as an interviewer. If she did take my recommendation I am so very pleased as you bring out the best in people. Thanks Harvey! You always make my night when I watch your interviews and it was nice taken by surprise seeing one of my favorite stars the talented and kind Miss Ann Margret😊
Thank you so much for telling Ann-Margret about me. That was incredibly kind of you. Who knows? Maybe your recommendation had something to do with her decision to accept my invitation to appear on our show!! Thank you also for your very kind comments about my interviewing style. That means the world to me. I hope you will spread the word about our show!🙏❤️
@@harveybrownstoneinterviews8980 I always will Harvey! You deserve the success and support 😍
Thank you so much! Greatly appreciated.

Thank you so much for finding our show!! I hope you enjoy many more of our great interviews with legendary stars!! Please spread the word about our show!🙏❤️
About a decade ago, I had a chance to meet her at a NJ meet n greet but I couldn't afford it :( but others said that she was lovely.
I’m so sorry you missed the chance to meet Ann-Margret. What a shame.
Harvey, there was so much warmth and appreciation shared between you and the legendary Ann-Margaret. It was so good to see her.
Thank you so much. I absolutely adore her.
I wish her song from the Flintstones (as Ann Margrock) that she sung to Pebbles was on a record . It was called "This Little Lamb". I'm pretty sure it's not on iTunes or any CD's.
I wish I had asked her about that. Sorry.
th-cam.com/video/OQyYJ--ce6s/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Oge9t-2XfSyFkAeF
Love at first sight, albeit in cartoon form on The Flintstones, respect for her musical work with producer/performer Lee Hazlewood, boyish lust for her bad mommy performance in "Tommy", shall I continue???? a DIAMOND of a WOMAN!!!
Yes!! She’s a real gem. I absolutely adore her.
Another great one, Harvey, bravo, love you.
Thanks Steve. Love you too! Please spread the word about our show 🙏❤️
Another big one.
There have been a lot of “big ones” on our show! I am so blessed.
I luved her in POCKFUL OF MIRACLES and the Tim Allen xmas movie as his mom in law.
Me too
OMG......I was born in 57', so I've enjoyed her spectacular performances over the decades. So many wonderful films. I loved her in grumpy old men. I wonder if you'll discuss her superb performance in the film "Magic". It was Anthony Hopkins first staring roll. I think it's a highly under rated film. She is a gorgeous lady to this day.
It’s not easy getting Ann-Margret to go into detail about her career. She’s very shy and humble.
You are a superb interviewer.@@harveybrownstoneinterviews8980
Harvey! Wow! Talking to "My Girl"!! She was the first woman that made me feel things! 🤗I wasn't even to the puberty years yet. That's how strong her sensuality was. She set a high bar for me as I navigated the wacky, wonderful world of romance....I was always (physically) looking for the Ann-Margret-type.. sometimes it was good...sometimes not so good (they may have resembled her, but that was all) I am happily everafter now. But Ms. Ann was my first love!💓 Glad she has a deep faith in Jesus. I live in the Memphis area. Stories about her and Elvis abound around here. She has always been so classy about not doing the kiss and tell thing. Gorgeous inside and out. Another great, kind and respectful interview, Harvey! But I am jealous. 🙂
You have excellent taste in women. And in interviewers. 😜
WOW !!! Class Act !! LEGEND !!! Never anymore like her talent !!!
So true
AM looking amazing!!!
She’s so wonderful.
I love her so much. So underrated.
She’s a legend!!
What a gorgeous interview, Harvey.
OMG thank you so much.
Wonderful interview, Harvey. One of your best, and that's really saying something!
Thank you so very much. I appreciate you more than you can ever know. 🙏❤️
Brilliant interview. Thank you from the UK.
Thank you so much! Greatly appreciated!
Great job.
Thank you. Much appreciated.
Col Parker wouldn't let Ann-Margret be opposite of Elvis because she matched or exceeded his screen presence.💥💥💥💥
She sure did
She was opposite Elvis in Viva Las Vegas.
Who could ever forget that??
I love Ann-Margret. Thx so much for this.
I love her too! So glad you enjoyed our show
@@harveybrownstoneinterviews8980 would love to see you interview Tippi Hedren and Susan Dey, who hasn’t been in the public eye much for many years.
@dav1237 Tippi Hedren is no longer giving interviews. And Susan Dey has declined our requests
💝💝💝 Harvey, this was wonderful.
Thank you so much!! Please spread the word about our show!
Back on my journey through your interviews and you never disappoint. Why can't all interviewers be like you?
My dear friend, if every interview were like me, I would not have a show. I think God every day that I am unique, because that is how I amassed our audience. I am so grateful you are such a strong supporter of my show. Thank you so much.
@harveybrownstoneinterviews8980 ahh, but if everyone was like you, that doesn't mean they would be equal to you. You would still be the best, and they merely would aspire to be more like you.
@TangoEliott I think I’m falling in love!!! Thank you so much!!❤️
Delightful interview -- of course!
Thank you so much.
Harvey, thanks so much for this interview. You are a very skillful and tactful interviewer.
Thank you so much. I hope you will check out more of our great interviews and consider subscribing to our TH-cam channel. And please spread the word about our show. We need help getting a bigger audience!🙏❤️
I loved her work in ‘Our Sons’ as well, Harvey. It wasn’t her typical role, but she was convincing in it, even if I knew she had to hold the opposite opinion to take the role on in the first place.
I happen to think, to paraphrase a line from ‘Latter Days’ that Ann-Margaret deserved an Oscar just for ‘Tommy,’ never mind anything else she did. I also have always agreed with the late, great Barbara Stanwyck’s thoughts from 1983: her performance in ‘Who Will Love My Children?’ was incredible. If it hadn’t been for the inclusion of Stanwyck’s performance in ‘Thorn Birds’ in the Lead Actress spot, instead of Supporting Actress, Ann-Margaret would likely have won the Emmy that year.
I realize it was a short interview, but I would like to have heard her thoughts on her first film role in ‘Pocketful of Miracles’ playing the late, great Bette Davis’ daughter.
Looking forward to more interesting interviews, Harvey!
I really appreciate your comments. Yes, the interview was short. If you “read between the lines”, I’m sure you can figure out why. But please believe me when I tell you that I did the very best I could with the situation that was presented to me.
Another special interview. I agree with other comments that Ann Margaret has brought so much joy and happiness to so many people. When she appeared in Tommy, it was the only time I (and the other people with me) knew Ann Margaret would be nominated for an Academy Award. Someone needs to find/write a script for Ann Margaret (and maybe include Carol Burnett).
Oh that would be amazing. Thank you so much for watching and supporting our show!
I recently knew her. She is amazingly humble and sweet. Down to earth. Christ Loving in addition to her talent and career.
Yes very true. Thanks for watching.
Great interview!!!
Thank you so much!
Loved her in the Grumpy Old Men Movies. Actually, love her in everything. She is so kind hearted and talented.
She sure is
@@harveybrownstoneinterviews8980 always thought she is such a beautiful spirit. Loved her in the recent Hallmark Christmas movie she did about the Rockettes. She was amazing.
@carolglover3582 she’s a beautiful human being inside and out. And she’s extremely humble and shy.
I love the text "Legendary Superstar". Well she most certainly is.
That’s for sure.
She is precious!!!
So are you darling!
Her and Elvis had a special relationship!
Ummmm…..yes, you could certainly call it that…..
Great interview! You asked a lot of questions I have wondered about. Especially the Johnny Carson dance she did with the outfit on that a dancer made for her. I still watch that video on TH-cam. Good job!
Thank you so much!
PS - I just now recall this AM tidbit. A choreography acquaintance of mine, mentioned that he once worked with AM. Still after all of her years of fame, she couldn't "get it" that all of the audience members were out there to see HER. She was amazingly humble about her fame.
Yes she is extremely shy and humble
One of a kind. The epitome of grace. She is eternal. 🩵💙💚🩶
She sure is all that and more.
Wow - so nice to see her! Harvey, your interviewing style reminds me of the late great Brian Linehan. Your research is impeccable. 🙂🎥🎬
WOW that’s quite a compliment. Thank you so much. Greatly appreciated. I admired Brian Linehan very much.
@@harveybrownstoneinterviews8980 my pleasure. I look forward to watching more of your interviews!
@BruceWBishop we’ve released over 350 great interviews. I hope you watch many of them!!
Always a class act.
So true.
I wanted to grow up to look like her so bad after seeing "Bye, Bye Birdie"....but I just watched the Sophia Coppola movie based on Priscilla Presley's book and it made me sad to think that she might have had an affair with Elvis, because it caused Priscilla so much pain. I hope it was just gossip magazine fake news. I've admired Ann-Margrets' work for years, she has so much talent.
We will never know what truly happened between her and Elvis. But my love, admiration and respect for Ann-Margret is immense.
Loved Anne Margaret in Return of the soilder and who will love my children. Very nice lady.
She’s brilliantly talented and also a wonderful human being.
She went personally to Elvis Presleys funeral with her husband Roger. That says a lot about her loyalty and friendship. She has amazing dignity
She sure is a classy lady
Harvey my sweet, once again, as I have said before, your amazingly beautiful personality and gifted ability to interact with the person you are interviewing is a personal touch to the heart of our society. You made me cry. I have not written you for quite some time, as I had a massive heart attack, and am still recovering. Slow and steady, accent on slow. I have met Ann by acquaintances in Vasa Home in NJ, and Ann-Margret was as sweet as could be, and loudmouth me was speechless. Can you imagine!😳🫢🙃. Anywhoo, I will not take up more of your time. I just wanted to write one more note to you, as when you mentioned the film with Carol, about gay men and of AIDS, and how you were affected by the film, and I am so appreciative that you shared that experience with me and your audience. God bless you my sweet friend. Love and Kisses, Frankie 🥰♥️✌🏼♥️🙏🏼♥️⭐️♥️
Frankie it’s wonderful to hear from you. I’m wishing you a speedy and complete recovery. Thank you for your enduring and enthusiastic support of our show. I appreciate you so very much. 🙏❤️
@@harveybrownstoneinterviews8980…Thank you so much for your kind words and well wishes. I am taking my advice that I gave to my Patients, as you might recall I was a Therapist, so “One moment at a time, then good or bad, place that moment behind you and move on to the next.” Also, “Therapist, heal thyself”. Being in the Psych Field all those years gives you a positive perspective., as well as dear friends such as you.🥰🙏🏼♥️.
I just now finished your interview with Randy. How I miss her. Ironically, I placed on my Facebook Page today, a book excerpt that was just the end of last year, depicting her final year. SO sad. I saw the Carpenters in concert in 1976, May, in Fresno. I was 19 at the time, turning 20 in December, and I was so mesmerized by the performance, Karen’s genuine smile and enthusiasm, her energetic way she played the drums and her charisma. Helen Reddy opened for them, as Neil Sedaka was fired, so they needed someone and she filled in. Both were just so amazingly talented. But Karen gave me chills when she sang. I am friendly with Dionne Warwick, of whom I know a good 60 plus years, and she has filled me in on some blanks about her life. A sad story indeed, a woman with so much love and kindness to others in need as well. I miss her to this day.
Your interview was once again, spot on, and your words and sincerity are truly inspiring and so important to me. God bless you. Have an evening as wonderful as you! Love and Kisses 🥰✌🏼♥️😘💋💕♥️🤗💕♥️💕🐢💕♥️⭐️♥️
Didn't George Burns give her her start in show biz?
I don’t think so.
I follow this younger host of the NYC Sports radio station. He said he wasn't into the Beatles at all. I thought that was really sad.
It is sad.
I recall, eons ago, when she fell off of a stage and had to have facial surgery. I wonder how she overcame the trauma of this?
She gave many interviews about it and no longer is willing to talk about it
Harvey, this was great. Any possibility of Telma Hopkins in the future?
We’ve been trying to get Telma on the show but so far no luck. Sorry.
One name: Tommy
She was great in that movie
Why Harvey is an excellent interviewer. He went right in for the first question on the perfume and went into the uso tours. Excellent job. Great way to get the guest comfortable. Also he overwhelms them with accolades on career which just helps set the perfect tone with guest. Brilliant. Plus the tie
Oh dear….you’re really obsessed with the wardrobe, aren’t you? I promise to wear a tie now and then just for you my friend.
She knew why colonel Parker yanked those two duets. She knows the Presley team was jealous of her upstaging Presley. She knows why. She won’t say anything more. She doesn’t say anything controversial cause she was taught not to make waves. She’s wonderful
Thank you for speaking from your heart
ann margret is a fascinating magnetic attraction, hope she did not harm the heart of the most precious artist in the world:ELVIS PRESLEY.may god bless you
What did you think of the interview?
21 mins???
Don’t ask. You don’t wanna know. It is what it is. I did the best with what I had. I’ll leave it at that.
Is this a "repeat" performance?
No
@@harveybrownstoneinterviews8980 Then it's watch worthy.
She was in cat belou with Lee Marvin
Nope. That was Jane Fonda
Only number 10 Empire?

Saw her on that episode on Carson. Wore no bra and it was very cold in the studio. Jumping around in a tee shirt top
She was - and still is - magnificent
