You were born again in your Catholic baptism and confirmed in the spirit in your confirmation, just as you can find was done in the Acts of the Apostles. You cannot be born again, again. The Commandments must ultimately lead us to the realization that we need a Saviour. It is clear that nobody can obey all the 10 Commandments faithfully and without error. We are all lawbreakers of God’s commandments.
James 2:10-11 says: For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it. 11 For He who said, “Do not commit adultery,” also said, “Do not murder.” If you do not commit adultery but do commit murder, you have become a lawbreaker.”
So if we are to be judged according to our ability to keep God’s laws then every human being rightly deserves to receive God’s eternal wrath and punishment in hell.
We cannot redeem ourselves by our own effort because now-and-again we keep breaking God’s commandments. We cannot save ourselves by our individual attempt to be righteous because we always fall short or miss the mark.
