Asking a random stranger for advice since you seem to know watches. I'm looking into buying my first watch, and my budget is no higher than €500. Should I go the safe and standard Seiko route, look into some of the entry level Swiss options like Steinhart, or consider a micro brand like Zelos? It will likely be my only watch for a while, and I would want to hold on to it for a very long time since it'll be my first. Thanks!

The camera work makes it clear where the corners were cut to keep the prices low relative to the construction materials and methods. It might not make a difference in person to these old eyes that are on their third prescription, but it gives one an appreciation for why it costs so much to make a top quality watch.

Okay this is not clean under the macro, maybe Zelos is just taking baby steps, but I wholeheartedly admire the vision of trading blows with the Swiss. The aesthetics hit just right, the dial balanced and the innards boldly showcased for every watch guy to lay eyes on a watch he's never seen before. These three watches can demand a five-figure price tag, if Zelos is grows to levels of Omega, Breitling, etc.
I'll have one of them, thanks very much. One might have to pay customs duty to get it shipped to Europe but who cares? Theses watches are special. I didn't know this brand and I would like to thank Watchfinder for introducing it to me!

Zelos really does make great watches. I’m proud to own a Great White w/Bronze case and meteorite dial. I wear it weekly and the bronze patina is wonderful. Movement, materials and build quality are excellent.
I'm actually not a fan of any particular Zelos and don't really plan on owning one, but I have a feeling these will be at least somewhat "collectible" in the future. I appreciate a brand that is willing to take real risks instead of trying to invent marketing hokum.

I’m actually baffled….I’m someone that has his eye on a Qualitie Fleurier rated L.U Chopard (don’t have the money for a Poincon de Geneve) and yet, here I am doing the same thing I do when I watch this channel - reassessing my every desire. @@Chyphor The dirt and rough patches that are obviously present under macro. I don’t expect beautiful handworked engravings, but I also don’t want rough edges, debris around markers, etc.
They did the same with Rolex and you'll see the same issues. The only watch that doesn't fail macro is Grand Seiko and the ultra expensive ones like Vacheron, A. Lange, etc.
The Singaporean watch company Zelos makes beautiful watches. I like the Zelos Mirage Sapphire, Zelos Mirage Tentalum and the Zelos Mirage Titanium Damascene.
Agreed. You get what you pay for. This is an amazing incredible value brand. But of course theres a reason the watches are 10% of the competitor’s prices. Its all about preference. Would you want a *slightly* dirtier and less finished watch made of unique materials or a regular steel watch from a well known brand thats clean under a microscope? Completely okay to pick either.

Purchased my first zelos from a new release just last week. Was having trouble during the transaction.. Sent zelos an email.. And within no time got a response.. And a fix from none other than the founder of the company. Very impressive attention to customer. Very impressive.
I collect vintage Seiko & Citizen exclusively and a few vintage divers. My daily wear is a titanium Zelos Hammerhead with blue dial & bezel. The design is unbeatable.
yeah macro shots dont do this watch any favours, the details and finishing are not good - even for sub 1000$ watches, the painted details in particular
I just purchased my first Zelos this week, a titanium mako. This video makes me want to get a Mirage too. It seems like this brand is really taking off.
Zelos doesn't always have the best quality control (I've owned some), but the Mirage line is not an all-out luxury product. It's more akin to budget high horology. It's an oxymoron but that's precisely Zelos' niche. It's worth the money if your expectations are reasonable.
I noticed those... I was wondering at first if it was a weird reflection, because of how bad they were, but nope that's definitely a torn up screw. I would be sending that back especially being a multi thousand dollar watch. You can get a $500 Swiss made Hamilton that has better fit and finish.
I have to admit that I really like the watch. Like the case, the movement, the dial and live the sapphire and tantalum options…not sure I’d buy it, but I gotta say I am positively impressed with zelos.
Learned about Zelos just a few weeks ago, and I'm a huge fan! So many cool and unique watches, and for hard to believe prices! And dive watches rated to 3000 meters? I think that might be a little overkill, but still cool to see so many zeros on the depth rating!
I like the fact there is a big X carved into the desktop you use for the demos. Its like being back at primary school but without the inkwells. (Or rude words carved UNDER the desktop!)
Not only are Zelos great bang for buck watches but they have great QC, great customer service, lovely looks and designs, incredible lum and amazing resale value.
RM buyer: more money than brains and incredibly poor taste. Anyways, Zelos watches are undeniably well-made and I can see myself buying one in the future. However, you would have to be insane to spend $9 k on this thing. Especially with the QC issues this video shows.
only the first watch shown is $9k, the others are below $5k, also the guy who created them said that these are early production samples and that he will work on improving the finish

This movement is in the Arnold and Son royal navy 8 day manual - and it is not skeletonized. That watch cost 9k used. No watch is perfect, but for what you get here, a no brainer in my opinion. If you're a movement nerd, best deal in horology at the moment. I've looked at this watch on other youtube channels and the finishing looks much better under macros. I'd get this over the Kurono chronograph which cost just as much, is not skeletonized, and the movement is a seiko I think.

IIRC, that should be called pattern welded steel, real Damascus steel(from history) is also called wootz steel, and that have a much more swirly and random pattern than the millie crepe cake pattern. As for tantalum... All i can think of is the yellow epoxy dipped capacitors that explode with clock like regularity...
So a watch with an Arnold and Son Movement, in Sapphire case. And better finishing than I’ve seen in some Swiss manufacturers, for 5k? I think the only explanation for this is that Swiss Watch making is overpriced.

Zelos is the first brand to grow out of the new micro brand era, I think they are now up with the likes of Hamilton, and Mido and right behind Tissot.

I tried to get one of the blue ZircTi watches but they were already sold out when I got the chance. That's a lot of watch for the money.

The Damascus version with the blue is a little weird looking to me.
Tantalum is annoyingly soft though making it hard to high polish, I do love it though
