Hi. Can you tell me what brand oil / oil filters you typically use? Asking as I see videos claiming the OEM filters are better. I use cheap Costco / Kirkland oil and inexpensive Fram or Purolator oil filters in my 21 Forester. Thx!
I've always used OEM filters. Was using Subaru blue and then switched to Subaru black maybe a couple years ago. For oil I was using Mobil 1 but at around 250k I switched to supertech (Walmart) because side by side comparisons showed very little differences. I should say I changed my oil every 5,000 mi because it's so quick and easy to do and to me it's well worth it since engine is the main component. I'm not opposed to using generic filters, but cutouts I've seen of filters like fram compared to Subaru show a marked difference. I haven't spent that much time on this topic though, so there may be other generic filters out there that more closely resemble the Subaru ones
Usually 87 from, Holiday, Kwik trip, Shell. I know Shell is top tier. I don't know about the other two. I go to Loves to and realized some loves don't have 87, but rather 88. So I've gotten that too
Nice to see you nappyjim!! I have a fumoto valve installed which makes the change even easier. From Hosubie (OB forum)
Can’t wait to see you hit 400K. Only 145K on my 2015 OB.

What type of gasoline do you use for the Outback? Top tier or non toptier gasoline?
