Anime that features "normal everyday stuff" is sometimes referred to as Slice of Life Anime. "Horimiya" is far from the only one, but it's one of the sweetest for sure. Glad you're watching it!
Like "Shimamura", HORIMIYA is a melodramatic slice, but of a slightly different plan. Although the title focuses only on Kyoko Hori and Izumi Miyamura, the anime itself tells about a whole layer of characters with their dreams and problems. Female characters are usually at the forefront. Their feelings are conveyed to the viewer not only through words, but also through a picture that focuses attention on all sorts of little things, like how the heroine squeezes the edge of her skirt in her fingers, how she looks at how her hands move. The male characters are shown no less embellished. Some of them are even set up in such a way that I wouldn't be surprised if one of the guys wants to add them to their list of waifs. Well, the romance. Not some kind of fake harem and all such "choo-choo" and "wee wee" nya... but rather serious and, even, in places, giving off some kind of breath-taking passion. When you see this, you realize that this is not childish childishness, but real love. The visual in the anime, the plot and humor may be simple, but they are definitely made with taste. It is pleasant to watch what is happening. And worrying is even more pleasant. So Horimiya can safely become an excellent anime for leisure evening viewing both in proud solitude and with someone else.🙆🏼♂️

As far as romance anime goes, Horimiya is one of the best.
While watching Just keep in mind time moves really fast in this anime. Sometimes it feels like things are progressing too fast but in reality Days or weeks passed between the scenes

horimiya yeahhhh the best and most realistic Romcom anime out there man its just the something else , and the feeling of nostalgia that this anime gives u oh god , especially for people like me who are associate with miyamuraa (both in personality and his past kinda) so yeah it just hits different , also well i won't spoil u anything just i am gonna assure you that this anime is DIFFERENT and thats its the GOAT of Romcom , u gonna understand with the time what i mean with it being different , almost every aspect that it has is less ''anime'' and more ''real life'' stuff and thats what makes it just so good
Two of those that you might like is " My Dress up Darling" and one of the best comedies I have seen "Konosuba"
Konosuba isn't something that should be seen until you've got several isekai series completed so you get the humor .

A piano prodigy boy with a traumatic childhood due to his abusive mother, meets a violinist girl with her own secret, and re egnites his passion to play the piano.
(Romance/Drama) tearjerker anime.
From Me to You / Kimi ni Todoke
A closed up shy girl who thinks nobody likes her, makes friends with the popular guy. A classic anime, Kinda cute/sad romance anime with a lot of feeling behind. Also has Live-Action adaptation movie.
Ao Haru Ride
A girl who was in love with a boy in middle school. meets him again at high school but the boy is very different than it was in her mind. Good romance anime. (Has a live action adaptation movie)
Don't Toy With Me, Miss Nagatoro / Ijiranaide, Nagatoro-san
This is a very recent anime, where a popular girl (Nagatoro) bullies one of her upper class mate "Senpai" which is a shy boy who stays all day in his art club room and paints drawings, Nagatoro tries her best to denied that she likes him, but her friends know. Romance Comedy, this is one of my favorites from the recent anime. S3 coming soon hopefuly.
My Dress-Up Darling / Sono bisuku dôru wa koi o suru
A popular girl that also does cosplays meets a quite boy that is good at sewing clothes. He decides to use his skills to help her out with her cosplays.(Romance Comedy) Another recent cute romance anime worth watching.
Himouto! Umaru-chan
An anime about a popular, pretty, smart, in nutshell a perfect high school girl. but when shes home she is the absolute opposite, all she does is playing videos games, read manga, and drinks cola with chips. (Comedy / slice of life) Also one of my favorites, Umaru has a lot of character and the anime is very cozy.
Some other suggestions:
Death Note: A boy finds a notebook capable of killing anyone whose name is written into it. A detective tries to catch the killer. (Classic must watch anime).
My Bride is a Mermaid / Seto no Hanayome : This anime is hilarious! its about a boy going on vocations and meets a mermaid which ends up being the daughter of the Yakuza, And now that he know their secret he either has to die or they have to get married. (Pure comedy gold anime) Also a classic anime from 2007.
My Little Monster / Tonari No Kaibutsu-kun: A nerdy girl falls for a (pretty much) gangster boy from her class. Cute romance/comedy anime from 2012 ( This anime has top notch soundtrack imo)
Wolf Girl and Black Prince / Ookami Shoujo to Kuro Ouji : Cute romance anime about a girl which lies that has a boyfriend, takes a picture of a handsome boy in the street to show her friends to convince them, the boy ends up being a student in her school. (Also has a live adaptation movie)

This anime is about Satan somehow ends up in Earth loses all his powers and has to live a normal life till he finds a way to go back. (Comedy)
Kubo Won't Let Me Be Invisible
This anime is about a boy which is indivisible (Not literally) to his classmates but his classmate Kubo always notices him and interacts with him.(Comedy Romance) This anime cures anxiety, they are all so soft spoken and everything is so calm and cozy, if you ever feel stressed this anime is a good watch!

Grave of the Fireflies: (Studio Ghibli movie) A Heart breaking WWII anime about a homeless boy and his little sister trying to survive the war.
If this is too dramatic you can watch any other studio Ghibili movie, they are all fantastic!

Good Morning Call (TV Series) Based on A Manga. Its about a high school girl who ends up living with a popular boy from her school due to a housing scam, The two are forced to share an apartment despite being complete opposites. (Comedy / Romance)
If you are into romance Anime you should also try K-Dramas, they do romance pretty good.

Horimiya is definitely among my top 20 favorite anime. I have never tried to make an official ranking so I couldn't say where it lands, but it is up there.
Just for context, I've watched almost every "slice of life" anime on Crunchyroll, Hidive and Netflix. Shonen and other "action/sci-fi" genres are not my thing, so they will never be in my list.

Some of the things that happen in this anime can seem weird or a little out of date, until you realise that this episode starts in July 2007 (so no smartphones, and some of the other things we are now used to hadn’t been invented yet).

There is a series who already crossed 350+ chapter(Manga) but no romantic development happened, there are series which ends the series with confession to each other. But this series move faster in romantic development than any other romcom series, that's why it is one of the best.

I want to correct you on somethings
Miyamura said "I thought for sure after yesterday, you'd just avoid being around me." he didn't said that because he has crush on hori, It is related to his past (in his chilhood everyone used to avoid him, I will not spoil much, you will see it in later episode then you will understand the line's context).
Hori was first one to fall in love with Miyamura, then Miyamura falls for her.
The color shade which comes out from their back it actually represents their emotions shades.
When Toru says "the two of you aren't anything alike." Toru mean like someone like you (Miyamura) can't date Hori, you are not worthy to date her, he criticize his looks and behavior , I am totally against it. If you are totally different from each other that doesn't mean you can't date each other.

for as good as the early Horimiya is, later parts of it are boring disappointment. I say it as someone who started reading it way back when it was a web comic called Hori-san and Miyamura-kun before manga publication. Early parts of the series are top notch though.
