    Great video Josh! All these adventure bikes are good in their own ways. The Triumph triple engines are so smooth to ride but I reckon a thumper parallel twin is better off road. Either way the Yowies are still out there, they are happy if you just keep on moving through.

    Great vid as always🤙🏻All my gopro batteries aside from one have those little pull tabs fallen off😅Had to resort to a little bit of paper tape or electrical to make it work. And I dig the superview 🤙🏻 I've always been a fan of superview over wide, but it all comes down to personal preference of course. To me it generally makes it feel more that you're "in the action". Seemed like a rock solid day of riding, well done you two.🍻

    Have my eyes on a Tiger 900 Rally Pro and just happened across one of your old videos lol looks like a lot of fun. Triumph definitely made the right choice with the 900 Rally Pro's seeing the 800XC struggle through there

  • @kymstock1852
    @kymstock1852 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The Triumph manual states" for light off road use only". I owned a 800 XCx ( 2015)and put 40K Km on it. It was a great off sealed road cruiser and brilliant road bike. I loved the smooth motor and Tiger" whine". Cruise control was great. But my complaints for dirt riding would be
    1) fragile front fender mounts that a stone stuck in the front wheel knobs will rotate and smash.
    2) windscreen was crap. I fitted a Madstad with off road brackets, but it squeaks a lot
    3) the electrics under the battery get soaked and the main fuse will corrode out. Mud will fill the drain hole eventually.
    4) bars were too low/ needs risers
    5) power and handling were improved on the 2015 model. They introduced riding electronic controls that worked. Changing form one to the other was tedious though. They fitted WP suspension in 2015 and it handled sand pretty well, but I elected to fit a stabilizer just in case.
    6) the rear subframe would break if you dumped it often enough with pannier racks fitted.

    • @MVDBR
      @MVDBR  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah it's a bit of a downer that you get improvements in some areas in newer models but then you have the extra electronic crap to deal with 🤦‍♂ Thanks for your comment 🤙🤙

    Not having a go at Geoff's set up but for me I never understood using those top box/bags. Places so much weight up high and affects the bikes handling so much for off road riding. Great to see getting out there on the big bikes.

    The reason the Tiger front wheel tucks is the rake on the front ( step that’s why on sand they are not that good ) also being a high revving engine also make them not good in sand - have to use clutch a lot ) that’s why they brought out the 270 T plane crank - better low down toque and they also changed the rake as well .

    This is proof that lighter is better. Great video, great bikes, but unless you are a serious, veteran dirt bike rider, these bikes are unwieldy whales off-road, suitable only for the street, or dirt roads, not off-road, unless you've got 10,000 miles + of off-road dirt bike experience. As has been said, they're like riding a drunken moose. Unless you're a veteran dirt biker, stick to a 250 to 500 cc dual sport. And look at the struggle of *two* men to lift one of these whales when they go down. Imagine doing that solo, 10 to 20 times a day, which you can expect - with luggage, in a remote location, with no cell service and no help for a miles around - you're talking about a life-threatening situation. Go small, go light, unless you want to stick to the road, or you are a dirt bike veteran.
