I've had a Latvian blue baby bottle for like 10 years and it still sounds great to this day. I paired it with a Kaoitca Eyeball recently and it sounds AMAZING even recording in my basement without any acoustic treatment. I have a made in Latvia Baby Blue Bottle that I really love a lot. Paired with my LA610mkii is a really amazing combo. Now I’m planning on experimenting with a Telefunken M80 to get a live off the floor recording blended with the Blue Bottle off to the side. I’m really glad I bought it when I did back in 2006.
@@Dracomies Yep, I got it together with my first ProTools setup (Digi002) and now use it with the LA610mkii and my Tascam Model 24. I think the Baby Bottle has the same color as the SM7b, but with the clarity and natural tone of a condenser. It also has a tighter pickup pattern than most cardioid condensers so it rejects more room reflections as well. Grab one now before Logitech phases them out, or ruins them completely.
In Europe I'd add T.Bone SC400 if we're going for quite dark sounding condensers. It's about $53 - just checked on Thomann, and if it's warm... I'd classify it as one too, but I think it's a personal matter at that point. Also in US you'd need to factor in the shipping which from Thomann is not that cheap overseas IIRC. But the mic definitely punches above it's weight when it comes to budget condensers.
@@zafiiro3225 If you have a deep voice, I'd not be surprised - it may get a little bit muddy in that case. But I think that's the case of matching a mic to particular voice - I for example can't get overly bright ones cause I have quite high voice + nasal from allergy and stuff.
Great description. I’m going to send this to a mate of mine who was asking about a dark VO mic. I have the Mackie 91CU USB version here, very good! I also think Cad E50 and Warbler Mk1 is good on the cheapish side. I’ve yet to try the PROAR but they sound reasonable from the videos I’ve seen, not the most articulate and detailed, but not bad!
Oh I know you! I love your channel! I did try the E50 and that was more of a brighter mic. Em91C and EM91CU sound very different. The one without the U is a much darker mic by comparison. :D. I'll check out the Warbler, they talk about it a lot on Gearspace.
So I've never tested the MK4 in person but from listening to other recordings the MK4 sounded like a smoother LCT 440 Pure. So I would give the edge to the Baby Blue Bottle for narration, it's much warmer (subjective of course)@@Tewahedo

@@redcabinacoustic-official I knew it! RE20 you could get away with character work for sure. Variable D technology, they call it. That no-proximity technology is almost like a condenser.
CAD 100sx? The Sontronics Orpheus is tuned for female voices. Not precisely budget though. One of the Lauten Audio mics has a low pass filter.
