Awesome, glad you enjoyed it! My wife and I have tickets to see him again this October. It’s a rescheduled show from last year. Hopefully it doesn’t get canceled again!
@@molonlabe9785 would love to get a show of his, do keep an eye on his website to get dates but with so much going and especially we are not allowed in! Hopefully soon, would fly anywhere to see him as only recently started following his music in detail. Was a big Merle Haggard as well

@@Justme77400 I’m seeing him in October. It’s a rescheduled concert from last year that we didn’t get tickets for then, but now we’ll be in the third row! Can’t wait for it! I’ll try to upload some more videos from that show.
Awesome! My wife and I were about 10 rows from center stage and during the last half of Fast As You and security basically just said “screw it” we got right up to the stage! At the end of his Suspicious Minds encore, his guitar player Eugene Edwards dropped his guitar pick and kicked it to the crowd but it got caught in his mic cord and I half hopped up on the stage and grabbed it while security was yelling at me and trying to get to me but I got it!!😂😂
Lisa Redinger especially being 10 feet in front of Eugene Edwards during Suspicious Minds, we were both deaf and I was recovering from a stage 2 concussion! Yeah, that was the best worst pain ever😂
@@molonlabe9785 Omg, we were at the front of the stage right in front of Eugene the encore too! Must've been close to you! Did you see when Eugene threw the pick that landed on the stage? A young guy was beside us and hoisted himself up on the edge of the stage to get it, and security yelled at him, lol. I was too amazed from seeing Dwight from 10 feet away to be affected by the noise, lol. P.S. I hope your concussion is better!
@@molonlabe9785 Then we went to see Dwight again in Lancaster in August. We stood right in front of Eugene again that time during the encore. He threw his pick toward us, and the lady beside us caught it and gave it to my little boy. Then one of the stage guys handed me one of Dwight's picks he picked up after the band left the stage. When we were outside talking to some other fans after the show, Eugene came out and was talking to us. We got our pictures taken with him and he signed my CD. He was so nice! It was an awesome night, to say the least! This year was the first time I had been to see a Dwight concert since 2001 in Pittsburgh. I'm ready to go again! He's been my favorite since the 80's.
@@molonlabe9785 Wow! I only saw your other reply and didn't see this one till after my 2 comments! So that was you! LMAO! Small world! I was videoing and you can hear the security guard saying "Hey! Hey!" That was funny!!! I was a little jealous you got it, but now we have one too :D
Very happy to hear Dwight sing this great classic but I was disappointed how he told the behind the scenes story, it's not quite accurate but probably is as Merle told him. First this songwriter "lady" was no unknown fan/amateur but the great singer-songwriter Liz Anderson (whom Dwight inexplicably does not name - shame!) and she had already written several hits when she approached Merle. It was Merle's wife Bonnie, a friend of Liz's, who asked her to come over if she had some songs she thought were good for Merle. Macho Merle was rather dismissive because essentially he did not think some nice suburban lady could write anything of interest for him and was quite startled by her great material. And Liz's legendary daughter Lynn Anderson (whom he does acknowledge) to say she had "some success" is quite an understatement - she was one of the biggest female country singers ever and actually more successful than Dwight himself on the country singles charts.
Yeah, I noticed this also (about daughter Lynn going on to "some acclaim" in country music). Lynn Anderson was one of the biggest female stars of her era. Although, he did say "she had a lot of country hits."
I enjoyed the story behind the song ... glad he took the time to tell it. The only thing I would take issue with is saying their daughter, Lynn Anderson, "went on to some acclaim in country music." Kind of like saying Tammy Wynette was a somewhat famous country singer. Lynn Anderson went on to massive "acclaim" in country music. She was a huge country star and is now iconic. I'd venture to say she went on to as much (likely more) "acclaim" as Dwight. Words matter. Nevertheless, I enjoyed his version of this classic. Always liked DY.
I agree! I think he was being slightly facetious and silly about Lynn Anderson but you’re right, it’s a great little story! Thanks for watching and thanks for the comment!
I have never agreed with comparing 6:34 female singers to male singers --both bring their wide range and style of their performances. I'm afraid I've had much less exposure to Lynn Anderson's performances than to Dwight Yoakam -- my opinion is that Dwight Yoakam outshines them all!
That's your opinion, re. three minutes of "waffle." I very much enjoyed hearing the story, even if he did screw up by saying their daughter, Lynn, went on to some acclaim in country music. As someone else pointed out, that's a bit of an understatement. She, Lynn Anderson, went on to be one of the biggest female country stars - period.
Always love listening to Dwight
Same! The man is a legend. Thanks for listening, merry Christmas!

He definitely did that song no justice at all. He needs to not sing that at all. Sounds like shit.
