I hate to add to the pot, but his poor pronunciation is an assault on the art form! In another list regarding Opera he pronounced “Montserrat Caballé” by actually pronouncing the double “ll” sound instead of the proper “y” sound.
Phantom of the Opera is NOT an opera, it's a musical. It may have the word Opera in it, but it's just a musical with classical music. Webber would be unimpressed.
A musical is, basically, pop stuff, wherein the actors speak in normal voices for the most part, and then suddenly burst into song when you least expect it. +WatchMojo.com Dear People on WatchMojo.com, the list is partially inaccurate. It is also pretty disrespectful that the narrator can't even pronounce correctly the names of the arias, operas or composers. also, do some better research, great effort on trying to bring pop culture references, but there are great versions out there with real great singers for some of the examples. Please note that "O Fortuna Imperatrix Mundi" from Carl Orff Carmina Burana is NOT an aria NOR Carmina Burana is an Opera; same as "The Music of the Night" from the Phantom of the opera by Andrew Lloyd Weber is a Musical Theater piece, the fact that says opera doesnt make it one. And Last, but not least, opera singer NEVER belt... What a disappointment on this one... I used to watch your lists and liked them, even recommended your videos and used them as educational tools, after this huge fiasco, I thing I shall pass and move on.
+Juan Felipe Mansilla B. I agree. I can pass the italian pronunciation, and the presence of the phantom of the opera, but the Carmina Burana, how can someone think that is an opera?
+Juan Felipe Mansilla B. I rarely comment on any video on TH-cam but after watching this I decided I had to say something. Then I realized you had written exactly what I was going to. Thank you.
+Juan Felipe Mansilla B. Agreed about everything. This list is ridiculous and makes no sense and his pronunciation of "voi che sapete" is bordering on offensive.
O Mio Babbino Caro by Maria Callas is also one of my favorite opera songs, as well as Amira Willighagen, who sung this song as well, both of their voices sound so beautiful. 😍😍❤💕
My favorite version is by Monserrat Caballé. She glides effortlessly into the high note. Callas's version is too rough (for lack of a better word) for me.
Callas is amazing, but I personally think Caballé’s version is the best for me because her voice is “thick” and very rich in that version, which is perfect for the song.
+KeinenGott I get the point, but I think the video title is meant for people who don't know what an "aria" is, even though this video is not aimed for them.
I am here because me and my husband used to go Wien Opera before covid, I think I listened all of these opera’s ( of course with different performer) and so proud with it. Hope covid over again and we can go again
Okay, I love *Phantom of the Opera*. I think it's one of the greatest musicals ever composed. But did they really just put it on the same category as...actual operas? Sad!
It is not an opera. It's a musical. This video was embarrassing. Surely watchmojo could have hired someone who actually knew what good opera is. Little girls shouldn't be singing it. Also, they should have found somebody on their staff that could have actually pronounced the names right. Ugh.
I don’t understand Italian at all so did.not recognise all the mispronunciations However I do like Italian opera and so many of these performances sound beautiful, so I guess it is a trade off, Italian opera is successful because it entrances not just Italians but people throughout much of the world.
Everyone is so upset, and I get it. But this is why opera music isn't as big as it should be. You turn it into some sort of exclusive club and make fun of the people who aren't as educated as you are. Just be thankful that someone took the time out of their day to try. They put forth effort to talk about a beautiful art form and most of you just shit on them. Get off your high horses and let us all celebrate that someone tried. That's the important part.
Jacy G the person narrating, teaching about opera ought to be able to pronounce/talk about them. This isn’t rocket science. The Spanish or French teacher in your high school must know their stuff, so should someone narrating about opera. When the target audience knows more than the teacher, then the teacher isn’t very good.
True true. No wonder opera music is drowning and drowning these days. In my town, opera used to be a big hit. But since the fans are toxic (elitist and such) the viewers has dwindled. Early this year, there were only 100+ people bought the tickets unlike the previous 1000-2000+ audience.
Its and Operetta which is a cross between Musical and Opera. It has the music style from and opera and is supposed to be sung with opera technique and has speaking parts in it.
Should be number one, Largo al factotum. Probable the most famous aria of all time (Looney Toones wouldn't be the same!), oh ja also insanely difficult for a tenor to sing.
Am I the only one who prefers the first queen of the night aria? It's just so much more beautiful and has much more demanding coloraturas, while still having a high F

"Les oiseaux dans la charmille", "Madamina, il catalogo è questo", "Una furtiva lagrima", "Vedi le fosche notturne spoglie", "Ah mes amis!", "Là pugnai, la sorte arrise", "La calunnia è un venticello", "Va' pensiero" for fuck's sake!
+Jaden Smith That's because a lot of people don't realize how much Opera and Ballet has been cannibalized for movies and pop songs. You most likely know the most popular pieces from Verdi, Mozart aso, from somewhere. (Verdi seems to be particularly popular with advertisers).
+MoonstonePearl21 Classical music has been used in soundtracks going all the way back to silent movies. I think a lot of people think silent movies were really silent. They at least had a piano or organ and the big theaters even had house orchestras with full scores. If the studio didn't own the score (like the improvised ones used in small theaters) they used public domain music, especially classical, to avoid paying royalties.
Narrator: pronounces "Voi che sapete" wrong Singer : pronounces it right Narrator : says it wrong again Singer : am I a jooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
The Phantom of the Opera is not an opera! It is a broadway musical. I'm surprised that the Catalog aria from Mozart's Don Giovanni wasn't on this list or the famous aria from Vivaldi's Griselda
Why is Phantom not an opera? Because its in English and not French, German, or Italian? I HATE Phantom, but it is an opera. Both opera and musical (musical theatre) have definitions, and Phantom is definitely not a musical.
His German accent was also horrible. But the fact that he didn't have this problem in his French pronunciation makes it unacceptable. Why put so much effort only on French but butcher all others? Especially Italian, that was just atrocious. It doesn't cost anything to look at the pronunciation before making the video.
I am referring to both the entry AND comment. Carmina Burana is a work by Orff in & of itself. It requires a combination of chorus, soloists, dancers & of course, the music. However, it is NOT OPERA as we know it.I first performed this on a scholarship, with pro orchestra, soloists, conductor & ballet when I was only 16 years old. Long story. I do not wish to bore you with details of my own career. However I choose to lead a quiet life & not plaster my work all over internet. The Deutschgrammophon recording of this featuring Fischer-Dieskau Gundula Janowitz et. al. is extraordinary.
@@PaulHaigh072 - lord lloyd webber didn't compose opera, he composed musicals. i think you're confused because one of those musicals was "phantom of the opera".

The inclusion of Phantom of the Opera was very strange. Your pronunciation of French, German, Italian, and Spanish was as cringy as a middle school love note. Other than that, this was a decent list except for the fact that the lower male voices are complete absent. Do they not matter? non piu andrai? catalogue aria? largo al factotum? champagne aria? ella giammai m'amo?

Watch Mojo keep messing up their lists. Why is there no pieces from the Barber of Seville, such as Figaro?? I hate when they leave obvious candidates out or mess up stuff.
The "Flower song" duet from Lakme is sung by a soprano and a mezzo-soprano, not two sopranos. It's gutsy to present the top ten arias and ensembles from the world of opera. It hope it helps make opera more popular. In the old days of opera, it wasn't unusual for the audience to throw vegetables, usually tomatoes at singers they didn't like.
So basically the only thing that was not mispronounced here is the one thing that doesn’t belong in this video. I’m talking about the Phantom of the opera, of course
I've had a very infectious earworm for Carmen act 1 and for the life of me I couldn't remember the words so I could type it in Google. Lo! And behold, you came in and saved the day. Thank you. 😘😘
Let me just make two points:- Please, really, try to learn the pronunciations. I am Italian and some of the words are completely wrong pronounced. I know that it costs some time but many people will really appreciate it.- We can add many songs to this list, but let me add to the honorable mentions also "Canzonetta sull'aria" from "Le nozze di Figato" (W.A. Mozart) which is known also to be appeared in the movie "The Shawshank Redemption".Tnk you!
Good to see O Mio Babbino Caro taking fourth place in the Top 10 Opera Songs, and even better that one of the examples of the singers was Amira Willighagen with Andre Rieu (the only child featured in the list). Well done, Amira!
+Ihdc1 and it's funny that they use him for Opera arias countdown, when due to his condition he is a bel canto great representer, first degree Tenor, but he's never been be an opera player as he is blind. And there's much better versions of the arias Mojo used him for...
I would have called them 'tunes' -- the list includes arias, duets and choral pieces. And with the inclusion of 'O Fortuna', they're not even all from operas. I join you in questioning the inclusion -- several times -- of Andrea Bocelli, but I'd add to that 'Huh??' list the conductor Andre Rieu, that pre-pubescent singing novelty, and fireworks...
+MrsChaoticSpiderMonki This actually won't help because the information they gave you it's kinda wrong...so, I recommend you to go to your nearest conservatory and only talk of music with musicians. (I'm doing my degree also)
+MrsChaoticSpiderMonki That's awesome! I always wanted to get opera training, but never got the opportunity. A girl from my high school graduating class is studying opera at a conservatory in our city. Not many local people get in to it, but she did.

My top: 10.Questa o quella 9.Toteador’s song 7. Aria of Figaro (Mozart) 6. Rigoleto’ aria 5. Hananera 4. Onegin’s aria 3. La donna e mobile 2. Lenckiy’s aria 1. Largo al factotum
Carmina Burana IS NOT AN OPERA, AND PHANTOM OF THE OPERA IS NOT AN OPERA SIMPLY BECAUSE IT HAS "OPERA" IN IT. Also, never give more screen time to Aretha Franklin assaulting Nessun Dorma than Pavarotti. That's not ok
Bocelli uses "classical," "art," "bel canto" techniques. Their premise did not require the clips be of opera performances. And in THAT they succeed. André Rieu? NOT an opera conductor. Seems okay on Burana, but that's not even an opera.
we americans are new to culture ;)as for me I don't watch rubbish from Hollywood...not been to cinema in over 4 years now. Last 2 months went to opera house in Helsinki (twice), closed in Reykjavik ;(, Talinn, Prague, Berne, Moscow (twice)...too late in Ulan Bator ;( and Bratislava and Mumbai last year...good catching up, no?
Despite the flaws of this video, it's a pretty good list overall. I would have included "Un bel di vedremo" from Madama Butterfly, and I would say "Che Gelida Manina" is my favourite song from La Boheme. For the people saying that "Queen of the night" should be higher, I would say that although it's an exceptionally technical piece of music to sing, that doesn't automatically make it the best.
i don't expect everyone to be able to handle the French and German and Italian titles, but then, EVERYONE isn't who is trying, the narrator is trying and failing badly.
I'm so glad they're doing a list like this. It's a shame that classical music isn't as popular as it used to be. People are really missing out. I'm not the crazy about the song chosen for the number 1 spot. I think the others on the list were better than that. You should do a video about the best classical instrumentals. Cannon in D should definitely be in there if not the top one. It just never gets old.
Whilst the discussions obviously centre around which are the best opera arias etc., it is sad to see comments made that are so dismissive of Amira Willighagen’s performance at Maastricht, in the Netherlands on 12 July 2014 with André Rieu conducting where she performed O Mio Babbino Caro with such distinction. Many have compared her favourably to Callas even considering her age. Though Amira was only 10 then (now 13), it was undoubtedly an amazing performance that touched the hearts and souls of anyone who saw it and who appreciated her outstanding interpretation and vocals beautifully performed. The 15,000 strong audience who gave her a 100% standing ovation obviously thought so. One concedes she is obviously not a professional opera singer with the necessary finesse as yet, but she is nevertheless a remarkable child and in my humble opinion being a child is not an argument against her musical credentials and outstanding talent with a truly stunning voice which is maturing beautifully. View her TH-cam performance throughout- you might even admit to enjoying it!
I hope some people here get to see Gianni Schicchi and experience "Il mio babbino caro" in its context. Gianni Schicchi is Puccini's only comedy and part of his Il Trittico. Babbino caro isn't really a sentimental work, Lauretta here is slightly conniving and even a bit of a minx, but still a well brought up girl. Lauretta is after all Gianni Schicchi's daughter. I hope you all have the chance to see a good production of Gianni Schicchi and especially when it's done as part of Il Trittico. Gianni Schicchi is done often, check with your local opera company, and support it!
Wow, no Led Zeppelin here? No, just kiddin' ... Seriously: I can't agree with your list at all. Where is "La Ci Darem La Mano" from Mozart's "Don Giovanni"? Where is the Komtur Aria from Mozart's "Don Giovanni"? Where is "In Diesen Heiligen Hallen" from Mozart's "Zauberflöte (Magic Flute)"? Where is "Ein Mädchen Oder Weibchen" from Mozart's "Zauberflöte (Magic Flute)"? Where is "Steuermann, Lass Die Wacht" from Wagner's "Fliegender Holländer" (Flying Dutchman)? Where is the prisoners' choir from Verdi's "Nabucco"? Where is the triumph march from Verdi's "Aida"? Why the fucking hell is "Der Hölle Rache" from Mozart's "Zauberflöte (Magic Flute)" not number 1?!?!?!
My Dear Deceased Father, Was an Operatic Tenor and sang "special gigs," part time . ( His usual career was as an engineer, and provided extremely well for my family.") The world is LONELY FOR HIS VOICE !! EVERYTHING I'VE EVER KNOWN OR APPRECIATED IN MUSIC, I OWE TO HIM !! ( I'm instrumental, not vocal; I played a couple of instruments, plus piano, which also I taught , and I read music of course, but can't sing worth a tink. Which is just as well. You can't imagine what it is like to go with your family to a big cathedral, with hundreds of people in the audience; "Oh, YES !! And that just happens to be my FATHER UP THERE SINGING ALL OF THE TENOR SOLOS. !!! ( I WANTED TO ANNOUNCE ....usually when he got "mobbed" afterwards by all of the fanning FOLLOWERS and well wishers, I could usually worm my way in the "CRUSH," and let people know .....the man who was the voice of CHRIST for the last two hours, G*d rest, was my beloved DAD. C.H.
I have not laughed so much in decades! The (miss) pronunciations are hilarious; the inclusion of pieces from musicals is piquant, if ridiculous; but the comments are hysterical! Still chuckling about Diana Damrau dressed as an angry sea-cucumber . . . The selection of music , though largely non-opera, is actually quite a pleasant selection of melodies. Not at all bad as an introduction of the musically-illiterate to actual music. As an example of how to stir-up a hidebound sector of the population, it's pure genius - even if that was not the intention . . .
Please excuse the correction; a "song" in opera is known as an "aria". What a lovely selection of arias in this video. There is so much wonderful music in opera and the internet has made opera so much more accessible. I really wish people can take time to explore this wonderful art from even more!
anglophones "italian is one of the easiest languages" anglophones : 4:17 (what he said can be transcribed as "vuaccisapete" in italian) also "giaccomoo pucini" is another good one
Okay. Speaking as someone whose making a career in opera, this video is a bit silly. 1) The pronunciation of the foreign titles is atrocious. 2) They're not songs. They are arias. In classical terms, a song is a piece for voice which stands on its own or comes from a cycle. An aria is a solo performed by a singing role from an opera. There is a big difference. 3) some of the 'songs' on this list don't classify because they're either not an aria, or they're not from an opera. The duet for lakme is duet and not an aria, the brindisi is a chorus because it has chorus singers in it, O Fortuna comes from a cantata, and the phantom of the opera is not an opera. It's a musical!!! 4) whilst I'll admit that even in the opera world many of these pieces are very well known, there are so many better pieces of music than the ones on this list. But nobody knows about them because these ones are so popular in pop culture.
Ì found an appreciation for opera in my 40s. The talent, dedication and obedience required to practice the art leaves me awestruck with those who perform this medium.

Finally, after all these years, ive finally found what i was looking for, i have been searching the internet for the name of this song for so long, and now i know its name, ”La donna è mobile”

Thank you.
Do a k pop video please!!!!!
+Juan Felipe Mansilla B. Agreed about everything. This list is ridiculous and makes no sense and his pronunciation of "voi che sapete" is bordering on offensive.
Fun fact: the soprano across from Pavarotti is Cynthia Lawrence. She teaches at my school, and she's amazing. I loved doing master class with her.
The flower duet from Lakmé at bottom of the list, for me it is precious 😚😚
O Mio Babbino Caro by Maria Callas is also one of my favorite opera songs, as well as Amira Willighagen, who sung this song as well, both of their voices sound so beautiful. 😍😍❤💕
My favorite version is by Monserrat Caballé. She glides effortlessly into the high note. Callas's version is too rough (for lack of a better word) for me.
Callas is amazing, but I personally think Caballé’s version is the best for me because her voice is “thick” and very rich in that version, which is perfect for the song.
Diana Damrau's coloratura in the Queen of the Night Aria was perfect.
Karl Braun She is a queen! Each time she performs the aria, Wolfgang is remembered for the genius he was.
She’s done it better… but no one else has.
I love when mojo gets real classy.
You mean when they TRY
+YoungTheFish - who says "opera songs?"
+KeinenGott Right? Haha.
+KeinenGott IKR?
+KeinenGott I get the point, but I think the video title is meant for people who don't know what an "aria" is, even though this video is not aimed for them.
I am here because me and my husband used to go Wien Opera before covid, I think I listened all of these opera’s ( of course with different performer) and so proud with it. Hope covid over again and we can go again
6:48: Who would recognise Pavarotti without a beard?
Okay, I love *Phantom of the Opera*. I think it's one of the greatest musicals ever composed. But did they really just put it on the same category as...actual operas?
Sad!
Amelia Doubleyou lol exactly my thoughts
it is by definition an opera. Nothing says an opera has to have classical music or be in Italian.
It is not an opera. It's a musical. This video was embarrassing. Surely watchmojo could have hired someone who actually knew what good opera is. Little girls shouldn't be singing it. Also, they should have found somebody on their staff that could have actually pronounced the names right. Ugh.
I want to like the comment but It has 69 likes and I don't know what to do...
PJ Vanity it is by definition, not an opera
Carmina Burana is a scenic cantata and Phantom of the Opera is a musical
Both are piles of musical excrement.
I don't speak Italian but even I know that was an awful pronunciation
I do speak Italian (though I'm not a native speaker), and yes some of them were bad, while others were positively awful.
I don’t understand Italian at all so did.not recognise all the mispronunciations However I do like Italian opera and so many of these performances sound beautiful, so I guess it is a trade off, Italian opera is successful because it entrances not just Italians but people throughout much of the world.
steven cellugi what on earth are you trying to say? Putting together random English words does not add up to communicating in English.
how miow bambinow carow
the way he says "Verdi"...........
Queen of the Night's Aria only ranks at #9? Are you insane?
Stoney Sauce and Diana Damrau deserves more credit.
and how dare he puts phantom of the opera in the intro
@@marcxs3537 seriously!!
The Queen of the Night has two arias and her first one is much better than the second more popular one
*How the hell was the Königin der Nacht in the 9TH PLACE?!*

YES
Ich hätte den 100.Platz gegeben...
Jairani Maharaj THANK YOU!
@@DanRothStrong Der Hölle Rache
Literally everything was pronounced wrong.
The word from.
Dude.
I was listening to this while working, and it was stupidly distracting
Let's be fair, some of the English words were pronounced correctly
Everyone is so upset, and I get it. But this is why opera music isn't as big as it should be. You turn it into some sort of exclusive club and make fun of the people who aren't as educated as you are. Just be thankful that someone took the time out of their day to try. They put forth effort to talk about a beautiful art form and most of you just shit on them. Get off your high horses and let us all celebrate that someone tried. That's the important part.
My thoughts exactly
i agree, just correct the author, its much better than bullying
Jacy G the person narrating, teaching about opera ought to be able to pronounce/talk about them. This isn’t rocket science. The Spanish or French teacher in your high school must know their stuff, so should someone narrating about opera. When the target audience knows more than the teacher, then the teacher isn’t very good.
yes ok but it's funny when he says o mio bambino caro LOL
True true. No wonder opera music is drowning and drowning these days. In my town, opera used to be a big hit. But since the fans are toxic (elitist and such) the viewers has dwindled. Early this year, there were only 100+ people bought the tickets unlike the previous 1000-2000+ audience.
"The Phantom of the Opera" is a Musical, not an Opera!
Patrick Meisinger eh
@Patrick Meisinger. Neither is Carmina Burana.
Its and Operetta which is a cross between Musical and Opera. It has the music style from and opera and is supposed to be sung with opera technique and has speaking parts in it.
@@Annija_Dziesma_T_official That term would be suitable for Die Fledermaus, The Merry Widow and the Gilbert & Sullivan pieces.
@@yipengli1072 even compared to those it would still be considered an operetta.
where is Barber of Seville - Figaro's Aria
Seems like they forgot Barber, no comment.
Figaro's not sung by a tenor so obviously it's not allowed on watchmojo.
Alex Kithinji you’re so right ! I knew they were missing something important . The Barber of Sevilha of course !!!
What about Figaro, Barber of Seville?
Le Duc 91 my thoughts as well.
Also "addio del passato" from "la traviata"
Should be number one, Largo al factotum. Probable the most famous aria of all time (Looney Toones wouldn't be the same!), oh ja also insanely difficult for a tenor to sing.
@@hds66nl29 Might as well add Der Ring des Nibelungen. Bugs Bunny in drag is even more iconic.

"Les oiseaux dans la charmille", "Madamina, il catalogo è questo", "Una furtiva lagrima", "Vedi le fosche notturne spoglie", "Ah mes amis!", "Là pugnai, la sorte arrise", "La calunnia è un venticello", "Va' pensiero" for fuck's sake!
When I first saw the title of this list I thought that I wouldn't know any of the songs because im not into opera but I recognized most of them. Dang.
+Jaden Smith Yea. A lot of classical songs have been incorporated in our daily lives without realizing it by appearing in a lot of soundtracks.
There not even English 😂😂😂😂
+Jaden Smith That's because a lot of people don't realize how much Opera and Ballet has been cannibalized for movies and pop songs. You most likely know the most popular pieces from Verdi, Mozart aso, from somewhere. (Verdi seems to be particularly popular with advertisers).
Same!
Narrator: pronounces "Voi che sapete" wrong

The Phantom of the Opera is not an opera! It is a broadway musical. I'm surprised that the Catalog aria from Mozart's Don Giovanni wasn't on this list or the famous aria from Vivaldi's Griselda

Future Life Sounds Carmina Burana is an oratorio
Kiara Eijo Yes i know. Both of them should not be on the list.
supergamer88188 b
Why is Phantom not an opera? Because its in English and not French, German, or Italian? I HATE Phantom, but it is an opera. Both opera and musical (musical theatre) have definitions, and Phantom is definitely not a musical.
I prefer Nessum Dorma before Habanera but I'm OK with this
me too
Dude you butchered every single Italian title..
Stefano Lomartire I took a shot every time they mispronounced something and I had to be taken to the hospital for alcohol poisoning
His German accent was also horrible. But the fact that he didn't have this problem in his French pronunciation makes it unacceptable. Why put so much effort only on French but butcher all others? Especially Italian, that was just atrocious. It doesn't cost anything to look at the pronunciation before making the video.
Karen G. Probably because Watchmojo are Canadian so they are used a little to French
That's not an excuse, with a little practice he could have done better, Italian or not.
go talk german we like a good laugh
4:29 Mozart was late to the performance of his own opera?? Inexcusable!
you could be late if you had his money or talent
*9Ballr* :=)
Carmina Burana shouldn't be on the list. Just because it has lyrics doesn't mean it's an Opera.
The Spirit of Orchestral Music I agree. Nice channel btw.
This is the most ignorant. foolish thing I've witnessed on TH-cam.
@bravaLiz Are you referring to the comment or the entry?
Carmina Burana is not opera, I agree with you
I am referring to both the entry AND comment. The Deutschgrammophon recording of this featuring Fischer-Dieskau Gundula Janowitz et. al. is extraordinary.
the "O Mio Babbino Caro" gets me all teary eyed every damn time, and I don't even have a daughter, let alone a child -_-
never try and do an Italian accent again.
Non sono d'accordo. L'Italiano non è così male.

The inclusion of Phantom of the Opera was very strange. Your pronunciation of French, German, Italian, and Spanish was as cringy as a middle school love note. Other than that, this was a decent list except for the fact that the lower male voices are complete absent. Oui! Una voce poco fa maybe? And yes, Figaro!
I honestly thought Figaro was going to be number 1 and Carmen was an honorable mention lol

+Jazmin Torres Carmen is number one, not honorable mention
And they put something like Carmina Burana, which is not even an Opera.
i would say queen of the night's aria should be the first on this list
The "Flower song" duet from Lakme is sung by a soprano and a mezzo-soprano, not two sopranos. It's gutsy to present the top ten arias and ensembles from the world of opera. It hope it helps make opera more popular. In the old days of opera, it wasn't unusual for the audience to throw vegetables, usually tomatoes at singers they didn't like.
So basically the only thing that was not mispronounced here is the one thing that doesn’t belong in this video. I’m talking about the Phantom of the opera, of course
He didn't mispronounce "L'amour est un oiseau rebelle" :P
The way he pronounced "Der Hölle Rache" made me laugh out loud at 3am

YES!!!! I am overjoyed that habenera placed number one on this list! One of the greatest works of art of all time!!!
I speak fluent Italian and some of the names you said were pronounced so badly it's insulting to the song. Voi che sapete is an example
I would like to hear you speak italian, come on, never in this life time a english speaker has ever had a good accent in any other language
Good to see O Mio Babbino Caro taking fourth place in the Top 10 Opera Songs, and even better that one of the examples of the singers was Amira Willighagen with Andre Rieu (the only child featured in the list). Well done, Amira!
No wayyy!!!
arias not songs. And why do they use Andrea Bocelli for all the tenor aria.
+Ihdc1 and it's funny that they use him for Opera arias countdown, when due to his condition he is a bel canto great representer, first degree Tenor, but he's never been be an opera player as he is blind. And there's much better versions of the arias Mojo used him for...
+Ihdc1 but not all the songs featured are arias. some are cantatas.
+Ihdc1, and duets, too. :D
I'm studying to become an opera singer. This actually helps! :)

I'm Okay with Lady Soul under the circumstances. And it is an interesting story. Your first points are right on the nose.
Bocelli uses "classical," "art," "bel canto" techniques. Their premise did not require the clips be of opera performances. And in THAT they succeed. André Rieu? NOT an opera conductor. Seems okay on Burana, but that's not even an opera.
yeah, if they take these 2 songs into this selection, they could have also put o solé mio to #1

The narrators might practice in front of someone literate before they record. The scripts and mispronunciations are excruciating.
we americans are new to culture ;)as for me I don't watch rubbish from Hollywood...not been to cinema in over 4 years now. 😂😂
Oh god I dont know whats worse, the inclusion of phantom of the opera of the pronunciation of the titles.
They're all baaad.
I think it's a toss up !
i don't expect everyone to be able to handle the French and German and Italian titles, but then, EVERYONE isn't who is trying, the narrator is trying and failing badly.

Just take away the mike a see what happens... It's a joke... simply not possible, and absolutely not natural.
Well those of us who have watched both know that Jackie Evancho's performance with David Foster in Las Vegas is much better.
Amira is the best performer for opera. She has the voice of an angel
One things for sure! You can't compare Jackie Evancho to Amira...✌

The Simpsons consolidated Verdi's everlasting legacy? LOL OKAY.

Was trying to find this one specific Opera song and I found it thank u 💯
