I learned a valuable lesson today guys. ALWAYS check for aftercredits!! (I still guessed right though so I think the reaction to the letter is more important thankfully)
yeah idk why you dont watch credits mainly when there is an insert song even if you dont understant it still carries the weight of emotions I like this one way more than opening or ending and its sung by nanahashi va so I cant wait for full version with lyrics just try to not skip endings its better that way and there are only few endings with spoilers this insert song and ending dont spoil a thing at least from my anime only point of view
Anime cencored it, but Nanahoshi did in fact try to off herself. When Rudy came back to the lab he caught her banging head on the wall. The reason why everyone was shocked seeing her carried was because she did, in fact injure herself quite a bit before she was stopped. And yes, the dagger was for it as well.
When she was screaming 'I can't go home' while pounding the wall with her fists I figured she was meant to be banging her head against the wall. I know I would have been if I was in her situation. I've considered it for far less, but never been deep enough in an emotional spiral that my sense of self-preservation didn't win out in the end. Someone that deep in despair doesn't beat an inanimate object. They hurt themselves.
The ending of this chapter was performed by Nanahoshi's seiyuu, Shion Wakayama. In the novel, she sings "Gandhara", which is the ending theme of the Japanese television series "Monkey Magic", as well as other songs from old anime. While in the anime, the song she performs is "Tsubasa" by the band Undergraph, a song that we see Nanahoshi humming in episode 9 of the second season. Whether by chance or not, Shion Wakayama, the same Seiyuu who voices Nanahoshi, performs the song "Gandhara" in the anime "Her Blue Sky."
That intro tells me my man's starting to realize just how huge this story's potential is. Best thing about Mushoku Tensei is how great the world building is, you could literally make a whole series out of every single character and we barely even scratched the surface.
this is why its insane and i love it. the world building is insane. most (if not all) characters and side characters are interesting, the world is huge, so many things to learn and see.
For a few details and fun things left out of this episode. Cliff has been hiting the books lately, since Rudeus told him that Laplace transfered his own curse to those Black spears, Cliff figure that magical implements may be his best shot at treating Elinalise's curse. thats why he knows so much about magic cyrcles. Nanahoshy was a bit more cynical in the novels, when Rudeus took her back to her tower and she saw Zanoba an Cliff she just laughand ask if they were gonna R*** her, Cif was very angerd by that slander! picture their entire group walking down the streat with a 9ft 6 arm demon king at their back everyone was getting out of the way in equal awe and fear they got to the biggest tabern they cud find Nanahoshi and Badigadi droped a coupple bags of coins and invited every single customer food and drinks for the night! Nanahoshy got drunk and started singing anime songs in japanese and play with linya's ears 😅 Clif and Elinalize just disapeard into a corner to make out Zanoba drinking with Badigadi and Jully Sylphie is the loving kind of drunk clinging into him asking for hugs, headpats kisses, ear play and what not, Rudeus was in heaven thinking he may want to drink with her in private offten 🤤 Nanahoshy wasn't to happy with the Newlly weds shamelisly flirting in in the corner and she cam in drunk and looking for a fight complaining about all the noices they made every single night while she wass in the next room Badigadi came to save the night and carried her away asking for more of her strange foraign sons, before he took her away she manage to say what she really wanted to say since the beguining Arigato!!
Nanahoshi becoming part of the group is among my favorite things in the show. Before she was always wearing her mask and distancing herself from everyone, but now she start to see them as "real" people and bonding. Also not shown, but at the end she sings in japanese as if it was a karaoke and even though no one besides Rudy understand what she was singing, they still party with her.
An absolute banger of an episode. It had one of the best mental breakdowns I've seen in anime, it also brought Ruijerd, Aisha and Norn back into the story. I also like how we finally get to see Cliff in his element. Until now, we've only really seen him claiming to be a genius, with very little actual proof/usefulness from him, but this episode we got to see how capable he actually is. In a single afternoon he was able to identify the issue with Nanahoshi's magic circle, learn how to apply composite magic circles, and even helped Nanahoshi write out the new circles as her equal. And he did all of that without even specialising in summoning like Nanahoshi does. He truly is a genius, probably the smartest character in the show so far, at least when it comes to magic theory.
Believe it or not in the LN the Nanahoshi scene is even more visceral. She screams, starts clawing her face and hitting her face on the wall, rudy interfered and then she went into that almost dead like state. Nanahoshi is there for about 6 years.... If we notice she is literally the other side of the coin of Rudeus, the antithesis. She still has connections to her original world. She has loved ones there, she was loved there, she has dreams and plans for her life. When she got teleported in the 6 sided world she became a recluse, she is avoiding contact, she eats trash, she even wears a mask to avoid connection. She became what Rudeus was in his previous life. Rudeus had no connections in his previous life, he was a recluse(due to being abused + trauma but... still) and when he died and got reincarnated in the six sided world he started anew, has loved ones, he is truly loved and admired by alot of people, has aspirations, dreams and plans.
14:06 Not just a sword man, or rather a dagger, its a reminder of what Rudy almost did to himself with one of those when he reached the rock bottom at s02e03, and what Nanahoshi might have done to herself with it had Rudy didnt get her out of her room right away.
I honestly prefered rudy's looks in the LN artwork. He looks much taller and imposing in his dark robes. Muscular too. Paul even says that you've grown into a man. And couple female characters actually start oggling him. Rudeus is 180 cm tall after his growth spurt. Sylphie for example is only 165 cm. So it is very noticable.
Ahhh man you said "12 more episodes" I was like.. This season is 15 episodes?!?! But its only 12 :(... But yeah I PRAY that they rush through some of the domestic stuff, and we get to that teaser in the OP towards the end. I love this show, and like the domestic stuff, but I want ADVENTURE!
Trust me, the endgame story haven't even started yet. But since this a sseries that goes through Rudeus life there are moments where "life stuff" needs to happen. Like getting a house or working. This series is not in a hurry to tell its story. its got time
@6:06 why does Roxy have that face, anyone know? I would think she'd be like that if Elinalise was around her lol... Also that girl who dresses sexy to help detract from her sister is dressed in normal clothes, anyone know why? I read the LN but I don't remember anything ever changing with her.
is it just me or is the animation in this episode kinda sub-par? also, the whole Nanahoshi situation and its resolution felt extremely rushed. it comes out of nowhere and then gets just as quickly resolved. what a weird episode...
I don't think we're going to have a chance at good animation quality again until season 3. They've dropped the ball this entire season. That said this episode didn't seem to be any worse than any of the other episodes from this season. We have known Nanahoshi has been working on getting back home almost constantly. It's all she does. MT won't hold your hand for things, especially the anime, so you'll have to connect dots yourself.
@@ElyonDominus we're getting better animation than most of cour 1 atm, all episodes have been almost at ep7 levels, and a certain episode later on is getting A LOT of resources.

@@matejmatuska6700 As soon as MT stops spoiling the entire season with OP and EDs I think people will be happy to go back to watching them.

This is the first episode in a longtime that genuinely felt like the light novels

Always make sure to watch episodes to the very end. You missed a scene after the credits.
The episode doesn't end unless you hear the voice "Aiyaaaaa~". I thought you remembered XD
You missed the after credit scene!
