I know that a musical background might seem lot more interesting, but n language learning it's a big distraction and can make hearing difficult for beginners. When I learn Chinese, a background music always makes it hard for me to understand new words. With old words, it's ok. But for new words, it's not. Although your pronunciation is awesome, sometimes the music is louder than your speech. And don't worry, no listening class is boring if the student is focused on learning and not on the background. A quick analogy: can you read better from a paper that has a color changing background or from the one that has a white background? In audio lessons, the paper white background refers to the background silence.
