I know this is an old video, but I’m looking between the 60 and 80 watt. Both say they are rated for .4 inch material in one pass but yours is the only video that has made it clear that the speed is what makes the difference when cutting on the lower watt laser. Do you know off hand approximately what speed you’d be able to run this same thing on an 80w?
Good question.... typically that is correct, especially if there is a chance of movement or you have the acrylic elevated, but in this case it was a simple cut, not elevated, so I didn't feel it as necessary. Good practice however!
I've had a tough time getting any questions answered from OMTech, my question is, can the base of this machine be removed? I plan on purchasing the same machine, but I need to get it down a flight of stairs into my basement workspace.
I love that laser! Thats awesome you're already selling things you made with it. Are you going to make anything to sell for Valentine's day? If you do let me know.
Lilly, I now have the same laser, thanks to Mike's recommendations, and showing me the actual results of one of my own projects. A little late for V-Day this year, but let me know you ideas, maybe we can do something for next year.
Thank so much for this video, I love how my laser key chains come out.

Sorry, not specifically. Each machine is different, but in general I'd assume 1.3x-1.4x faster
What are your setting for engraving on 3/16 acrylic?
Thanks for the video, would it not have been safer concerning movement to have cut the inner item first?

What are you using to weld the acrylic? Do you get any crazing when bonding?

Yes... it is bolted on from the inside and is removable.
I built a taller more usable stand for ours - th-cam.com/video/HfwBJdfC4ZU/w-d-xo.html

Thanks Lilly! No plans for V-day stuff... we typically do mostly B2B sales, but will see 👍

Our C02 Laser can not
Do you use air assist for acrylic? Yours didnt seem to flare up as much as mine does.
Yes... I do. Typically lower PSI like 15-20psi
Is that a 2 inch lense?
The OmTech 60W ships with a 1.5" lens.
