Dont be surprised if Arjen himself come here and make a comment, ive seen quite a lot of reactions to this specific song, and on many Arjen have been in watching it, and making a comment.. and if Arjen read this one, rock on dude!! love your style..
Thank you so very much for this amazing performance, , this was the best way to listen to this song, if you can watch the live performances from other ayreon song. Get well soon, all the best!!! Thanks again and see you, bye
Btw. About a different kind of singing by Floor, watch her in *NORTHWARD* (a hard rock duo composed of Dutch vocalist Floor Jansen of Nightwish and Norwegian guitarist Jørn Viggo Lofstad of Pagan's Mind) with the song *_"While Love Died"_* : th-cam.com/video/bAiPeSsqD-4/w-d-xo.html
This is an introduction song to the Album The Source, introducing the different characters. You just go for the whole album - lots of great duets from all the singers incl Floor and Simone. Arjen has been working with over 100 top singers and musicians from all over the world, during the years in all his brilliant projects - many of them several times. He has worked with Floor since 2000 - and on his latest project it was Simone that was female lead - and those 2 are the top, but all his singers are top level. You should also notice the guy Joost Van den Broek, on Grand piano - you will meet him again I can promise you.. Arjen gets some of his inspiration from dialogs with his fans on social media, to his ongoing stories - and he is a great guy - and one hell of a composer. You should not be surprised if he comment here - he is very active on social media, and here in your case - I would not be surprised. So glad you liked it 👍 🤘 🤘
I'd put Russell Allen at the top as well both in quality and the number of times he has worked with Arjen. We do get a bit carried away with our symphonic metal female leads as we love em so much :D I loved the old Star One Live concert with baby Floor and Irene, Russell, Damian Wilson, Joost and Arjen actually on stage playing!!
Glad you liked it…I was pretty sure you would. Everyone is going to recommend Everybody Dies, so I’ll go a different way…The Age of Shadows and The Valley of the Queens are both good ones.
Simone Simons is the lead singer for Epica a band you should check out. She and Floor are good friends and used to be roommates. They have a duo called Sancta Terra that is worth the watch.
And a second duett too: Don't forget "Stabat Mater Dolorosa", a christian hymn from the 13th century with music from the 18th century played by a full orchestra th-cam.com/video/nhtOORYTGx8/w-d-xo.html
Ayreon brings often the Floor-Hammer at the end of a song. He is very fond of her. He discovered her when she was 16 years old, I read once. That's when she sang for him for the first time. Floor knows how to thank him. 😁 Ayreon - Everybody Dies (live) th-cam.com/video/9AAXtUdM7xE/w-d-xo.html is my favorit one from him Do you like guitar solos? I really thought you’d like that. You ought to have seen the joy on your face! Everyone will suggest Everybody Dies which is a great next step for Ayreon. Also check out Across the Rainbow Bridge and The Castle Hall. The bands represented by the performers in this one are awesome and worth exploring! Heal up and get well soon.
Floor and her sister Irene have been working with Arjen for many years. I think Irene was 19 when she and Floor sang on the live Star One events with Arjen. Tremendous stuff, thanks for checking it out!
I knew you would like it. Hope your arm heals up. Next up should be Every body Dies live. It is insanely good. Also, Floor did a side project called Northward. Check out When Love Died. It is more of a rock sound, but as usual Floor slays.
Yes. Everybody dies and the Star of Sirrah. Live collected in the Ayreon Universe. With Michael Mills again who can be a funny entertainer too. And Joost playing his fingers off on a wall of keyboards. And Floor. And the chorus of Irene Jansen, Lisette van der Berg and Marcela Bovio. And the 'gritty' Maggy Luyten. And if you explore those sequences further you will meet more musicians. Did I mention Marko Hietala? Arjen himself appears only in one out of sixteen songes, about that, his talent is in composing, arranging and producing. Don't expect Ayreon to go on the road. It takes Arjen about two years to organized just one satisfactory gig not far from where he lives.
Ayreon is the (main) project of Dutch composer, producer, singer and multi-instrumentalist Arjen Anthony Lucassen. He does scifi concept albums (both instrumental and lyrics he writes about 95% of the songs). He has had over 80 different singers on his 9 (double)albums. Most albums are part of the bigger story called the Ayreon Universe. He has not done many live-shows but the ones he did are all killer. The 4 main shows are: 1.) Star One - live on earth (actually starone is a side project, but they did play some Ayreon songs) 2002-dvd2003 2.) The Theater Equation (a playthrough of the cd human equation, this is more a broadway-theater show) 2105-dvd2016 3.) Ayreon Universe (a best of full on prog-rock-metal show) 2017-dvd2018 4.) How did I miss this on the day it premiered? No matter, we are THRILLED you loved it!. Just like you, Nightwish led to Ayreon. Ayreon led to Anneke Van Giersbergen. Anneke led to Kamelot and so on. Arjen Lucassen is a crazy talented composer. This song really showcases everyone's brilliance. There are so many European bands that the US has never heard of let alone know of. Great reaction as always Ryan!
The cool thing about Ayreon is that all the albums sort of tie into the same story. 'The Source' (the album which this song is from) is technically the start of the story. It's about a race of humans that give control of their planet to a computer (the 'frame) to help solve an environmental catastrophe, but the computer determines that the best course of action is to eliminate the humans. Ten humans and the robot TH-1 escape the planet on the only interstellar ship they have (the 'Starblade') along with the ships crew and head to an ocean planet. The chemist creates a drug ('The Source', aka 'Liquid Eternity') that allows them to evolve into an 'aquatic race'. The drug also makes them basically immortal and allows them to communicate telepathically. The album ends with the survivors (ten plus the ships small crew) living on their new planet ('Planet Y') in relative peace, but in the final track we learn that TH-1 is becoming a new version of the 'frame deep in the ocean. The next album in the timeline, 01011001 ('Y') tells us how machines have now taken over this new planet, and the humans have basically merged with the machines are losing their emotions and sense of time. They now call themselves 'The Forever', since they are essentially ageless drones at this point. We also learn about how they seeded a comet with DNA and sent it to Earth, where it creates human life on our planet. The Forever believe they can live through us telepathically and that they may regain their emotions by doing so. Some of The Forever believe that we need to advance more quickly, and use their telepathy to give us medicine/technology, but this results in us advancing quicker than our morality can cope with. Eventually The Forever realize humanity is doomed and has to decide if they will give them the technology to reverse their past mistakes. Somewhere in the timeline sits the album 'The Electric Castle'From a summary by Arjen: "At the end of the journey those that successfully dealt with their personal demons find out that the voice belongs to an alien named 'Forever of the Stars', a member of an alien race living in a distant galaxy. These aliens created planet Earth and its people as an experiment so they could study, and hopefully one day experience emotions, as they themselves lost feelings eons ago." That's only three albums (less than half!) but I believe those three give you a solid foundation for how the story plays out. Also, I highly recommend any of the Electric Castle Live videos; They are just so fun to watch, plus John de Lancie ('Q' from Star Trek) plays the 'Forever of the Stars' character, which Arjen said he originally based on Q.
If you want to see Queen Floor more prominently within Ayreon (Arjen Lucassen), watch: “Valley of the Queens” live. The other two Queens in that one are Anneke van Giersbergen (fmr The Gathering, and much more) and Marcela Bovio (fmr Stream of Passion, Arjen’s ex-band. BTW this song is done before by her live with SoP back in the time they both were members)
nice to see you run in same trap like me ,now you are a traveller in the ayreon universe and should listen the complete album .close your eyes when hearing and look this epic movie in your brain
... Welcome in the amazing world of Arjen A. Lucassen Aka Ayreon Universe (Ayreon, Ambeon, Star one, Guilt Machine, Gentle Storm, Stream of Passion).... Enjoy this rabbit hole….!!!!!
Nice reaction, thank you. The Source is one of the best prog albums I have ever heard (in my opinion...) and I'm an old 'Yes' fan! I listen to it about once a week and I've owned it for about 3 years!!!
Arjen is amazing, also is very friendly with reactors, has done some interviews and stuff with some of the youtubers that are fans of his work Glad you are getting better with the arm!
So glad you're checking out Ayreon! I love the whole album of The Source. For some very young Floor with Ayreon, "My House on Mars" and "Ride the Comet" are favourites of mine (she does the backing vocals mostly, and the main vocalists are also absolutely wonderful!). Other than that I hope you enjoy the start of yet another musical journey with a lot of awesome artists to discover through Arjen's projects, and I wish you a swift recovery! :)
In case you are wondering....yes, there are live concerts from Ayreon and they are amazing. As you can imagine he wasn't able to get all the original singers for the show but he knows many other singers who were wiiing to fill in. I won't recommend any songs as I will just be repeating others
Love your reaction. I guess many may have said it, but you have a fantastic speaking voice. Broadening the horizons, that's what it's all about. Feel better soon! Cheers from N.C.
You took your first step into a big rabbit hole: the music projects of Arjen Lucassen. After this, just pick songs from the two live concerts: Ayreon Universe live The electric castle live and other tales. You’ll be amazed. Don’t forget to listen to the albums of course.
Ever since you started this long journey I knew you would eventually get to Aryeon and for certain get an absolute "buzz" from this one because of your own creative musical mind and abilities. Great reaction. So many rabbit holes here and I'm sure many will give you suggestions. I hope the recovery is going well.
Hi Ryan, this video draw me recently into an new world to discover. It was fun to see that this had the same effect on you as it had on me. Musically I had slept under a stone I believe. Ayrean had past by a several times, but I never had experienced it, like this one.

Michael Mills has a 4 octave range, you'll see him elsewhere and the part he sings as a "Digital Pavarotti" is as the android TH-1 (Mill's band is Toehider - TH) and it is simple old fashioned ASCII which says "Trust TH-1" but without the spaces of hyphen.

I know I could look it all up, but I like letting fans tell me stuff👍
@@RyanMear ok, than the next one is Everybody Dies (live) also from the Source th-cam.com/video/9AAXtUdM7xE/w-d-xo.html
This album is phenomenal
Nice reaction, thank you. The Source is one of the best prog albums I have ever heard (in my opinion...) and I'm an old 'Yes' fan! I listen to it about once a week and I've owned it for about 3 years!!!
Arjen is amazing, also is very friendly with reactors, has done some interviews and stuff with some of the youtubers that are fans of his work
Glad you are getting better with the arm!
This year Arjen will bring another album from one of his other projects (Star One) and believe me, that will be something amazing.
Told you you would love this 😁
Think your face told me I was right 😄
Btw, the whole ‘Universe ‘ concert is Epic!
Hope you have a speedy recovery.
If want to hear Floor do hard rock then check out Northward
Yea I was reading the comments to see if anyone would mention Northward..He should definitely check it out.
Next stop: The Ayreon Universe live show. Basically pick any song and be blown away 😉
Thank you! Feeling great! Cheers!
Check out Day Sixteen: Loser and The Garden Of Emotions.
You took your first step into a big rabbit hole: the music projects of Arjen Lucassen.
After this, just pick songs from the two live concerts:
Ayreon Universe live
The electric castle live and other tales.
You’ll be amazed.
Don’t forget to listen to the albums of course.
If you want to hear Floor sing straight up rock and roll, you MUST listen to Northward...While Love Died!
Ever since you started this long journey I knew you would eventually get to Aryeon and for certain get an absolute "buzz" from this one because of your own creative musical mind and abilities. Great reaction. So many rabbit holes here and I'm sure many will give you suggestions. I hope the recovery is going well.
Floor has a "Bugg" named after her .. "Tmesis ternus floorjansenae".
Tuomas has one to, "Sciophila Holopaineni".
You really should check out Northward the project her & guitarist of Pagans mind did it is straight up rock ( while love died).
Hi Ryan, this video draw me recently into an new world to discover. It was fun to see that this had the same effect on you as it had on me. Musically I had slept under a stone I believe. Ayrean had past by a several times, but I never had experienced it, like this one.
That's great!

Unless my binary is very rusty, he is more or less saying "Trust [Me]" ... he is playing an A.I. around the 8min
Michael Mills was the computer that terminated that civilization
No, he isn't. He's the drone that comes along with the fleeing humans. TH1 = Toehider 1
