I was in a band that opened for them in Knoxville and the stage was so small that Suffocation essentially told everyone to utilize their gear to save time and space. (For us drummers we used our own cymbals, snares, and pedals.) Suffocation are awesome dudes and insane live. Derek and I were geeking out about drum gear, he told me to look up Panzerchrist’s album “Soul Collector” and Eric is not only super chill, while I was playing his drums, they were tuned to absolute perfection despite being used by 2 other bands, and rebound was perfect. I’ve been looking for kit configurations like his ever since then. 😂
Dude, Soul Collector is GOLD!!! I absolutely love that album! I used to shoot the shit with Derek way back in the late 90's when he lived in San Diego. He was in a band called Deprecated with a future guitarist of mine back then. Derek would come up to the Showcase Theatre and watch/play shows, a lot of which I was playing at. I haven't talked to him since he joined Suffocation, unfortunately. For whatever reason, I never crossed paths with Suffocation. The only person I knew family well was Dave Culross, but that was due to his Malevolent Creation days. I opened for that band A LOT! Anyway, Suffocation is one of the best deathmetal bands that have ever existed.
@ I agree dude, I was blown away at that album when I threw it on for the first time last month. Derek is such a good dude, man, I’m sure if you saw him he’d be thrilled to see ya. And I agree again, Suffocation are straight legends.
Man this is soo good! He has just a flawless technic thats why it seems easy if you look at it. Thats really impressiv and also he doesnt even seem to break a sweat. Also, Suffo was always one of the best sounding live bands ever. I have seen them at a festival at a lake in switzerland and I saw them in Tampa and many more different places and they never ever sounded bad or had a bad show.

@radikult1 - so, anyone who has an opinion different than yours is a troll, eh. No, I don't think this man is a beginner, but he isn't all that either. Suffocation has had much better drummers than this joker - namely Dave Culross, and Mike Smith.
@@harbosoniusnot what it sounds like for the drummer… he has in ears most likely and hears some mixed down channel. It would have been better to just say it’s the raw camera audio.

sufukeishon !
Love the drummers that get featured on here but i have yet to hear a good mix!!! What gives?
Sooo sorry it's not up to your standards
It’s because the mic picking the music up is the one on the camera. This is literally what it sounds like to be a drummer playing live

@@prototheist Does he have in ears? I was trying to see but usually there are wires coming from and I can't see anything in his ears surprisingly
If you want to hear an album-like sound, why not just listen to the album? Personally, I really appreciate hearing the live, in the room sound.
