A lot of parents simply don't bother, or give up if the kid doesn't immediately get it. 4) He's not trying to make Oliver like what he likes. You're into art? Different youtubers? Good for ya! Brandon incentivizes Oliver to not only talk about what he likes, but actively go for it. Its simple stuff for the most part, and when you grow up in a good environment its hard to tell how often people go without some of it.

A few years ago, I would have scoffed at anyone who said Brandon was the better fantasy author, but since Dance with Dragons released, Brandon has released 3 Stormlight books and several other novels of exceptional quality. He's proven to be not only a much more consistent writer, but he engages with his community in an amazing way, and his writing seems to get better with ever book. Don't get me wrong, I love ASoIaF, but the Cosmere is growing into something truly special, and I actually have faith in Brandon to get it done by the time he retires or leaves this life, and that matters quite a bit. GRRM has seemed to have lost his passion for writing fantasy, meanwhile Brando Sando seems like he's just getting started. I cannot wait to see where he takes the story next.
To be honest, GRRM has written himself into a bit of a bind, I think mostly due to the sheer lack of editing. In the fifth book (of a planned seven) he is *still* introducing new plot lines and characters, with their own motivations and plans, while still requiring his main plot lines (Danny, Jon, Tyrion, Arya, Euron, Cersei and Bran) to be resolved, and that's not counting Stoneheart, Brienne, Sansa, Baelish, Varys and Jaime with their overall, more character driven arcs. It must be an absolute nightmare to navigate, figure out a way to bring everyone together, figure out the main issues (the Iron Throne, the Battle of Winterfell, and The Others), and wrap the story up in a way that feels decisive, earned and bittersweet.

I just wanted to say thank you. I suffer from depression and I always felt so alone and confused. I felt ashamed of my weakness. It’s funny because to the world I am superman. I am a nurse at work and I always take the hardest assignments and come through, I am the only one on my family of immigrants whom clawed himself to multiple degrees, and I have been described as the inspiration... all along I don’t see any of that. I feel weak, overwhelmed, and my thoughts are on repeat of every little mistake making me hate myself. Than I read your book and found someone whom just like me hates themselves and fights depression and suicide so often life seems a constant fight. I identify with Kaladin so much specially when fighting the pursuer he screams that he doesn’t fear him because death chases him everyday. I just want to say thank you for making me feel proud of fighting depression and just like Kaladin being a bit nicer to myself.

I just wanted to say thank you. I suffer from depression and I always felt so alone and confused. I felt ashamed of my weakness. It’s funny because to the world I am superman. I am a nurse at work and I always take the hardest assignments and come through, I am the only one on my family of immigrants whom clawed himself to multiple degrees, and I have been described as the inspiration... all along I don’t see any of that. I feel weak, overwhelmed, and my thoughts are on repeat of every little mistake making me hate myself. Than I read your book and found someone whom just like me hates themselves and fights depression and suicide so often life seems a constant fight. I identify with Kaladin so much specially when fighting the pursuer he screams that he doesn’t fear him because death chases him everyday.
I just want to say thank you for making me feel proud of fighting depression and just like Kaladin being a bit nicer to myself.
