I recently learned a new term that I have learned that describes not being contented with what you have, and escalating costs. "The Diderot Effect". The Diderot effect is a phenomenon that occurs when acquiring a new possession leads to a spiral of consumption that results in the acquisition of even more possessions. In other words, buying something new can cause a chain reaction leading to one buying more and more things.
Mostly!! A couple of years ago, I put a ton of pressure on myself, thinking, “This is my job; people will judge my skills based on my own home.” But honestly, I’ve realised that furnishing a home takes time, effort, and a good chunk of money 💸 - and I need to give myself some grace to build it up slowly. Just because it’s not “finished” doesn’t mean it’s not nice ✨. And with budget constraints, I’ve had to accept that I can’t buy everything I want all at once. Plus, I’ve learned it’s perfectly okay to change your mind, move things around, or swap furnishing here and there - most design choices are reversible, after all 🔄.
@@baixu I heard a TH-camr mention that everyone is working with budget constraints (even millionaires aiming for billionaire-level decor), which helped me stay grounded as well
Sounds like a episode of gardening Australia, gardens are never completed, again thankyou for your channel. When I redo my bathroom, if I need reassurance or direction I will email you for advice, it's a tricky one 😅@@baixu
I love this message. I'm currently decorating and was starting to feel pressure to make it "perfect"
this video was so comforting! I love doing little improvements to our apartment, good to know it will never end haha
Love the comparisons if a living thing and a reflection of yourself :)
Thank you for that reminder! I’m always obsessed with everything looking like Pinterest but it’s not always realistic.
this feels like it's almost like the guiding philosophy of your channel 💜
Great advice! 👍🥰🎉
