Timing chain cover to block uses anaerobic gasket gel which is like a thread lock compound, same brand Henkel Threadlock. This seals coolant and oil. In 30 k miles when you need a timing set, use this product.
That thing bouncing around inside #7 was likely a tip of a glow plug. Soldiers use ether and they swell, then pull them out and fracture a small bit off the head. They won't tell anybody because they think they'll get in trouble, and next thing you know, you've got it bashing around inside the cylinder. If it didn't fall out when you took the head off, it might have been small enough to blow out the exhaust at some point.
Always stud you're heads on a diesel if you can.my 87 6.2 now has 1,120,000 miles on it, never rebuilt, runs perfect! only work ever done to it was the injectors were rebuilt and the injector pump was rebuilt at 692,000 miles
Thats a nice scout! Those are hard to find around here. I've been looking for one and only thing I can find are trailer queen show trucks. I want one to build and actually daily.
Always install the cam vertically this way you less likely to damage a cam bearing bus having low oil pressure always remember what I told you it's either absolutely correct are it is wrong
@@matthewrandall6320 I found a fuel receipt from 1994 in the truck. A friend gave it to me. He said after having some filters changed it wasn’t running well and it “just quit”. I found a bad shut off solenoid among other things
Right off the start ive got to say it is not a Detroit diesel was not developed or built by detroit it is a gm built and developed diesel engine ! Frist of all dont' blame Detroit for gm engineers mistake ! Beside detroit was right in the middle of devolpeing its own four stroke engine !! The 6.2 was built in a gm devopement and factoty in the midwest ohio to start with!! Detroit never woud have built something like this screwed up mess at all !

That makes sense. It probably worked it's way out the exhaust.
Yeah. I was an Army mechanic for a lot of years. I know how soldiers think. I don't know how many kids I caught trying to let that slide
Could have been air filter cover washers.
0:26 Probably the tip of the glow plug, those things burned in two like crazy on these engines.

I just need an engine stand that will rotate vertically.
Hey Matthew. I have a question for you or Clay about my injection pump on my 6.2 diesel
What is your question?
What’s the best way to check an injection pump?

@@cobrakaimcconnell8375 how long has the engine been sitting since it last ran?

both the 6.2 and 6.5 are piles of junk.
What a waste of money..

You used thread locker on the studs but you're supposed to use Permatex Thread Sealent. They may leak because of that.
