Having listened to Nigel's knowledgeable insight into out opponents I have even more dread about this game unless we change our set-up and style of play to try a nulify a far superior team.
Its games like these we really miss not signing a proper defensive midfielder. Our midfield 3 works perfectly domestically but are too wide open against top teams.
As long as we aren’t humiliated yet again, I will be relieved. Our defence is utterly shite at that level. Keep the score down and maybe have an attack that doesn’t end with them scoring would be a bonus. We have at least six quality players straight into team required. Get another couple for us qualifying next year. Then another three in the summer.

I know it's football and anybody can win, but that game against Dortmund and our current rather sluggish form makes me think we might be on the end of another whipping, especially if Rodgers is too egoistic to consider a more defensive approach. Obviously I want a win, and that can always happen, but realistically I'd like to keep the score to a respectable 1, 2, or 3 nil.

To hold on to the ball in spells, horseshoes and 1-2's between CB's and CB-L/RB are fine instead of making a rushed forward or hoofed wayward pass in those spells where we usually make rash decisions under pressure. Also, apart from actually taking 1 or 2 of our very few clear-cut chances when they come. When being counter attacked have it so we're not just relying on Callum McGregor to stop/cut out a pass while 3 Atalanta players are heading toward our box with ourv 2 chasing/out of position CB's desperately tracking back after sonebody loses the ball 25 yards from Atalanta's goal.
Atalanta represents an absolute bespoke nightmare for Celtic, you could not handpick a team more able to replicate Dortmund at home’s style and even do it better with more physicality. Gasperini has assembled a wrecking ball of a team that is diametrically opposed to every tired cliche of Italian football. Celtic HAVE to be pragmatic but can they even do that?
Gasparini is a very good coach, he built a team from scratch that is worthy of being effective inEurope whereas Rodgers inherited a promising squad at Celtic that as a team has been a little dishevelled lately, creditable European performance looks beyond them and this game against Atalanta will be an accurate measuring stick, time will tell.
