These little fruits are sometimes under rated. They are delicious and should be used more often than just around the holidays. There is nothing out there that quite taste like them. I live in cranberry country so fresh is easily available. Fresh ones pop and release all of their liquid once at boil. I have never used vanilla or cinnamon in mine, but I will try your version with fresh ones...it looks really good. Thanks Rik.
We eat cranberry sauce all year so when the berries are available about the middle of October here, I buy several bags and freeze them. It's nice to know I could used dried berries in a pinch.
I'm lucky enough to get fresh cranberries this time of year. Make my sauce with orange or apple and some finely chopped fresh ginger. Which I will be doing tomorrow, day before Thanksgiving. But I like the use of dried cranberries, always have them. Hello from Oregon US.
My family is cranberry crazy. I have never made it with dried cranberries, but that is good to know. I add a bit of grated fresh ginger to my cooked sauce just for extra zing.
Another awesome way to use up those dried cranberries is to re-hydrate them in a little water, drain, then stir some into your stuffing mix. Then another good way to use that stuffing is to mix up a ground turkey meatloaf, pat into a rectangle, cover with that stuffing, and roll it up and bake. Yum! Shirley in NH
Oh wow Rik Will definately be giving that a go for Christmas lunch. Looks much much better than the jar in the shops. Thanks Rik. Take care. I’m off to sleep now. It’s 11.45 pm. Nite I’ll be dreaming of food lol.
Wow, neverin a million years would i have thought to put orange juie and chest with grandberries😮❤i will defenately make this (using fresh ones coz living in area where these and clowdberries grow, so i have them in freecer) Ur recipes allways suprizes in a positive way❤thank you 🌹
Hi Rik, almost missed this video, didn’t get a YT notification, this time around. I started to make my own cranberry sauce a few years ago, using fresh cranberries, orange juice & zest & a good glug of Port, a couple of spoons of redcurrant jelly & a star anise, it’s delicious with all types of poultry, duck, baked ham & cheese but a good bit more expensive & time consuming to make, I was keeping a small amount for myself & jarring up around 1/2 a dozen jars to hand out to family & neighbours for little gifts hampers filled with chutneys, home made shortbread, an assortment of fudges, amaretti biscuits, Christmas muffins, brownies & tray bakes etc, mandarin flavoured gin liqueurs, so it does become expensive when buying all those ingredients, jars, bottles, gift boxes etc. for presentation. Think I may just copy your version this year, & start ‘scaling back’ a bit. I’m not getting any younger, & work flat out throughout Dec to get it all done, by the time the big day arrives, I’m left feeling like a washed out old rag, & pretty much look like one as well! 😳🫣😂
Geezum... do you ever sleep?? You're like the energizer bunny lately with all these awesome recipes! :) I'll say it again.. other channels only give us ONE upload a month (if that). You spoil us with 1-3 a day!! lol Btw... I take it back... you may reach 200K by Thanksgiving, not Christmas!! I feel like a proud Momma. LOL Shirley in NH
Cranberry sauce made with dried cranberries will last up to 7-10 days when stored properly in the refrigerator. Make sure to: 1. Let the sauce cool completely before storing. 2. Transfer it to an airtight container or a jar with a tight-fitting lid. 3. Refrigerate it promptly. For longer storage, you can freeze it in a freezer-safe container for up to 2-3 months. Thaw in the refrigerator overnight before using. Thank You. Best, Rik
I will definitely give this a try. How long does this keep for, If I made it now would it be ok for xmas? It would also help if the ingredients were in grams or ounces as I am not sure what a cup is equal to.
@@BackyardChef - I remember when my sister, after doing part of a master degree in London brought me a basket of English foodstuff including one such cranberry sauce pot and I she was like: "that's used with meat" and I was like picking some bread and butter and using it for breakfast, because in my mind/culture you don't mix savory and sweet, unless it's cheese with quince jelly, which is anyhow considered a desert.

Sounds good. Thank You. Best, Rik

Only if you freeze it. Cups can be searched online the same way you are online for this video. I do enough work. Thank You. Best, Rik
