Zack's Death is sad because you think for a second that he will get to see Aerith again but he died. And I like how Angeal's sword was pass down to Zack and Zack pass it to Cloud
Plus, Cloud and Zack was so close to Midgar. It was like they were so close to the finish line, but just couldn't make it through. That's the really depressing part. If they were to go just a little bit longer, maybe Zack can finally see Aerith one last time.

When the scene opens to Yuna whistling for Tidus, which was heart breaking, and then the last lines of the game when Yuna tells the crowd to never forget what they lost, and she says, "...or the dreams that have faded..." (cutting to images of her and Tidus) "... never forget them." Man, that was tearing at my heart strings :( I also appreciate the wording of "dreams that have faded," because it can relate to everyone who had goals that were destroyed, but to her it was really just Tidus (who was actually a dream). So good...
And this is just another reason why I love FF. The only game franchise I have ever played to truly leave a mark. Seriously tho, what other game as put this much time in dialogue articulation it's just brilliant. From character development to story to soundtrack to everything FF is like the girlfriend you always wish you'd had but in reality it's impossible: perfection

............. I'm my opinion, Aerith's death was easily top 3 in sadness but it wasn't just the sadness that made it number 1 overall. The mixed emotions of shock, sadness, utter rage and feelings of vengeance that led me to skip any side missions left in the game (first playthrough of course) is what tops all in overall emotion over a video game death. Just my opinion of course :).
I agree about the Crisis Core's ending. For me FF 7 got a lot sadder, especially the part when Zack brought her the pink ribbon that she wore all the time :(
She did remember him, there’s a scene in ff7 where she asks Cloud what class was he back in SOLDIER to which cloud replies 1st. She then says “just like him”. At that point she is referring to Zack.

Despite the fact that we knew Zack would die at the end, it still brings us to tears as Zack fights an epic final battle, and continues to fight despite it being an unwinnable battle.
the two saddest thing for me when zack dies are his last words "did i became a hero?" (you answered that pretty well my friend) and when he says "if you see aerith say hi for me" because he meets her but he was never able to tell her anything about zack!!! 😢😭😭😭
Fass Fassel This is exactly why, since the Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy universes should be paralleled with each other, I wonder if they'll touch on Zack's death in 3. I can just picture it; Ven goes to Olympus and asks Hercules where Zack is, and if he ended up becoming a hero. Herc then sadly responds, as if he sensed it when it happened, with "Yes... He did, but he still never came back." O, how the tears would flow! Also, since they would dare not show Sephiroth coming back and killing Aerith, if she doesn't show up again in 3, there probably would be a similar cutscene where Cloud has to tell Sora the bad news, since Sora was apparently off training for 5 years.
That is one of the reasons Aerith death is the saddest moment! Cloud didn't remember Zack and couldn't say. Aerith lost Zack through his death, and then Cloud loses her. She practically has love with the same person two different times, and each ends tragically and prematurely.
Final Fantasy X was the first game to ever make me cry.. i was so little i dont think i even really understood what was going on.... i just felt this enormous sense of grief...
I played crisis core before I played 7 so I was never aware of zacks’ impending death so when it happened I cried like a little weenie I even restarted my game because I thought I made a wrong choice and got a “bad ending” Zack will forever be my favorite character, crisis core deserves a remake goddamn it 😭😭

The ending of 13-2 was by far the saddest for me. They had just won it all. The music was all happy, and then Serah dies. And then the world is basically destroyed too. That ending is a big part of what makes the ending of Lightning Returns the most emotional (but happy) moment in all of Final Fantasy.
I respect your opinion but I didn't feel anything at the ending of 13-2, maybe it's because there were really few characters that I liked,but I must agree that it was well made. For me Zack's death at Crisis Core is still the saddest moment of the franchise(Aerith's death was sad but not on that level so I think the 6th position is good enough), and what happens to Cloud in 7 just makes the feels get stronger(at least for me lol)
+ Brunno Malli FF13-2 was the first Final Fantasy game I ever played, so I got pretty attached to Serah (and Noel). I then went back and played FF13 for the story and was probably more motivated to save Serah than most people who played FF13 first. Then Lightning Returns comes around. So, basically I'm a big Serah fan because I played 13-2 first. Fun fact: I disliked Snow when I first played 13-2. I just thought "Who's this jerk?" when he showed up for a little bit. I liked him much more once I played through 13 and LR.
Harry Potter FF 13 was the second Final Fantasy that I played(first was FF 10), Overall I thought that the game was pretty good,yeah I didn't get attached to the characters but it still was a great game, I don't know why so many people say that it's trash, after that I played 6,crisis core and 7(7 became my favorite,of course crisis core had a huge part on it though haha) FF 7 story was awesome and I really Liked the characters except Aerith, I don't hate her, she was an OK character, the only memorable thing abut her is the scene between her,Cloud and Sephiroth(I put it like this because I don't know if you know what happens,though it's almost impossible to not know about this scene xD), Now going back to FF 13. Lightning and Sera were the only characters that I really liked,Hope,Fang and Sahz were OK and I detested the rest(especially Snow and Noel lol).
I don't understand it. I really don't. Are you like..12 and didn't experience the time where good storytelling was part of a JRPG? The Jpop music is just pain to my ears. And I really can't feel ANYTHING seeing that horrible "super-cute" moogle flying around my face. This has nothing to do with Final Fantasy. And the whole FF XIII story was just a mess. XIII-2 and 3 where just added so the game could make more profit, because the whole idea of the story wasn't written when XIII was finished - and so does XIII-2 feel like. I'm no cold-hearted idiot, hell, my favourite FF is by far FF VI, which is full of emotions. The whole cutey bs, jpop music, weird story(telling) without making any sense (there is no story telling in the 1st one xD You literally have to read it!) is just no Final Fantasy. And the moment Serah dies was the moment I yelled at the screen, knowing, that there will be a 3rd one to make even more profit out of that crap. But fortunately I never played FF Sailor Moon meets Majoras Mask Returns.
My sister cried when Edea ice-spiked Squall. Just imagine how handsome squall would be in todays graphics? He was based off of River Phoenix and that guy was dreamy as hell (b4 the drugs) Tidus' ending was like wtf- but side note: they look so different after the HD remake....

Yup, like me f.e. I was/am impressed that Square managed to create a game which gets to you even though you know the outcome. Of course it always depends on the player. F.e. The death of Aerith did not affect me at all because I did not like her. 🙈 The same goes for all of the FFXIII characters but I was deeply moved by the Type 0 ending f.e.
my top final fantasy sad momment is definitely '1000 words' from final fantasy X-2, I know a lot of people shit on ffx-2 but honestly I played through x-2 4 or 5 times, and every time I got to that part I'd start crying.
I must admit, Squall being impaled was pretty sad, but what about the part when Rinoa was left to die in space? That was truly heart-wrenching. 😢 Seeing Rinoa lose hope as her life-support system slowly deactivates, as well as Squall gain a new sense of empathy as he struggles to keep contact with her--this prolonged suffering honestly stuck with me far more than Squall's wound, which quickly healed as if nothing happened.

Tidus knew all along that he is going to die anyway, that feelings carry on throughout the story. that's why tidus disappearing scenes really hits hard, lol
I would have possibly added the section where Biggs, Wedge and Jessie die as pillar collapses, then shortly after when Cloud, Barrett and Tifa get to Elmyras house, and she explained that Aerith agreed to go with the Turks in order to protect Marlene, and then Elmyra explains the story of how she met Aerith, her mums passing, and then about her husband in the Wutai war not coming home, and then Aerith tells Elmyra someone dear to her has returned to the planet. It would be a bit lengthy but IMO it should be added, as it's like a double / tripple bang of sad moments literally one after another.
I was wondering what #1 was gonna be, and Crisis Core is an exceptional choice. It takes you to before the beginning of 7 and shows you that the person who should have been the hero to save the planet died before he even got a chance to begin, and so his best friend had to pick up that heavy mantle, or sword in this case, and carry on for the both of them through all his damage and baggage. If Zack had lived, would Aerith have died? Would Sephiroth have held the same sway over Zack that he did over Cloud? I wonder how they'll work these new story bits into the remake, since they said they're going to address them. I also appreciate your inclusion of XIII-2 and Lightning Returns, which I think unfortunately a lot of people missed because of the weaknesses of XIII's story-telling.
Some people say that zack's death isn't really emotional but if you add the short cutscenes and the last fight (where the pictures of his friends start fading from the random skills thing i forgot what it's called i'm sorry) before the final cutscene it'd probably tear you apart.
FF X was the only one that really got to me, while Zack's death was a very touching one in the video, its not the same since it was already presented in FF VII where it didnt have the same impact. So even though its extremely well presented in Crisis Core, it wasn't a surprise and you knew it would happen before you even play the game wich took something away from it. All the other 8 didn't really feel like much and were just part of the story for me. Good vid though, and glad u didnt put Aerith/Aeris in first place, very good call and made the list worth watching!
Um you did actually know Tidus would fade too...by the time he reaches Zanarkand he knows he'll disappear and even the player is hinted he'll be gone by Bahamut's spirit. So technically you must've not paid enough attention if you were surprised by his disappearance. However, I do agree that it was a heartbreaking moment just like when Zack died.
Actually, viewing Zack's death in the original game is completely optional. At some point after the Mideel explosion, visiting Hojo's lab in the Shinra manor in Nibelheim will trigger the cutscene. However, the game gives you absolutely zero notifications that this will happen. So a great many people actually missed it. So for many, their confirmation of Zack's death was through either Crisis Core or Advent Children. Crisis Core is worse due to the fact that is practically forces you to get attached to Zack because he's the player character, only for it to brutally rip him away from you - the original didn't have that.
FFX ending saddest ending ever. Tha fact that Tidus sacrificed himself so Yuna would live and Yuna only found out right that very moment that Tidus will be gone. It's so heartbreaking.
These older games have their merits, but I think this shows just how valuable a properly doe Remake can be. Modern audible and visual storytelling takes all of these emotions to a whole nother level.

Nah number 6 is perfectly fine, i didn't feel anything for her death. Tidus number one and Zack number 2 and everything else is meh imo. The list is well made and the Aerith death cliché is way past its prime and wasn't all that great anyway. She was a boring character that i couln't get attached to.
+xSS4x hmm not really i think that aerith's character just wasn't emphasize through the game since the graphics wasn't as advanced as we have now.... reading the novel was better you can see Aerith's character developed from a scared shy girl becoming upbeat and joyful character she wanted to become someone like zack who was always looking up ahead with a smile when zack disappeared she finally took a step forward and started to go around selling flowers that zack promised to help her when he got back she never stopped writing zack letters even after he disappeared until the 89th letter that basically means "she'll be moving on" thinking zack settled down with someone. And when cloud and tifa was drowning in mako in Mideel Aerith was the one who protected Tifa to help cloud bring back who he was. Though she was saying -"Cloud... I miss you. I miss the real you..." -"I want to be the one supporting you by your side" -"Tifa. Thank you... I'm a little jealous of you but, do take care of Cloud and the upper world." i guess since i Aerith hmm i guess i favor her quite a bit well we have our own preferences.
I love that Final Fantasy XIII-2 was basically about the platonic love between Serah and Noel. It hit me when watching the sad bit about her death. He was watching his best friend die. He had never known many people in his time and Serah was one of the first person that he knew and grew to care for. I feel like replaying it now.
i think zack's death is the most saddening because he didn't get to see Aerith. and the moment you see Aerith notice something is not right means they have a deep connection between them. I can almost feel the looks she gives when she looks up.

Gaulfs death is one of if not the most underappreciated moment and death in FF history the music the fact that they tried everything they could to save him by using raise and Phoenix's downs and such and the Krile crying over her grandpa who she now has to take his place We lost a dear character and no one noticed

Then, Final fantasy VIII comes out, I get to the ending, then I see Laguna walking by Raine's Grave, and I've realized she's her mother. FFS I couldn't hold my tears. Today, I'm 36 years old and as I write this comment tears are still comming to my eyes.

Zack's and Galuf's death probably the saddest in FF series. Zack began to lose his memories before his death, fought againts thousands of soldier just to protect his dearest friend, Cloud. Galuf on the other hand, surpassed his limit only to protect his beloved granddaughter. What a way to die. Galuf's death should be no 1 or 2 instead of Tidus'. Change my mind.

One of my personal saddest moments were ff tactics ending where it casually tells you orran was burnt at the stake and gabranths death in ff12, especially sad when you see his brother wearing his armor at the end! This may sound weird but i also found vayne and venats deaths sad too as they both fought to release man from the control of gods who manipulate man, imo vayne was kind of a hero

Great video! Saddest moment for me was the twins in FFIV. Two little kids simultaneously deciding to cast stone on each other to stop the walls from caving in. And just to twist the knife, the allows you to cast heal automatically to let you know the kids aren't coming back.

The worst Final Fantasy 7 death as definitely Zack and Aeriths death will never even come close to that for me. My heart has never fully recovered from having to fight to the death of Zack basically and when ever I remember that or even watch a video or hear Prize of freedom it just hurts all over again or will even bring me to tears. No other video game death has ever impacted me like that. Probably also because Zack is just such a genuinely nice guy and good character you just can't help but love. Even if I tried I could never hate him ever.

I'd say this most definitely needs updated now that we have FF7 Remake. Anyone who's played it already knows exactly what I'm talking about. New #1 without a doubt.
I know ff13 gets a bad rap I get why but that series helped me grow as a person Sarah never gave up and while yes Lightning was basically unchanged throughout the series it made sense her one thought was of Sarah of course she would want to get her back at any cost even her soul. And Noel is my fav character he lost everything everyone around him then is given a mission by Light and just goes yeah sure let's do this. There are issues with the series don't get me wrong but I love it all the same.
Auron's sending in FFX, Gabranth's death at the end of FFXII, Izuna's death at the beginning of Type-0, all three of these had me crying (I never finished Type-0, so can't judge about the ending). But yes, Zack's death is definitely number 1, has me bawling every time...I'll be honest though, Aerith's death did nothing for me....

I don't think I can ever watch what happens with Tidus and Zack without ever feeling anything. No matter how many times I watch either of those scenes, I feel like I have to fight back tears. Celes as well for that matter, since she was one of my favorite characters from that game. A part of me is a little afraid of how Aerith's death will be treated in the eventual remake part of it. I mean, I am sure it will be powerfully emotion invoking for sure. Although I imagine it's because I imagine it will be hitting me that much harder seeing how the remake has basically made me love her character all over again.

............. I'm my opinion, Aerith's death was easily top 3 in sadness but it wasn't just the sadness that made it number 1 overall. The mixed emotions of shock, sadness, utter rage and feelings of vengeance that led me to skip any side missions left in the game (first playthrough of course) is what tops all in overall emotion over a video game death. Just my opinion of course :).

She did remember him, there’s a scene in ff7 where she asks Cloud what class was he back in SOLDIER to which cloud replies 1st. She then says “just like him”. At that point she is referring to Zack.

Despite the fact that we knew Zack would die at the end, it still brings us to tears as Zack fights an epic final battle, and continues to fight despite it being an unwinnable battle.
the two saddest thing for me when zack dies are his last words "did i became a hero?" (you answered that pretty well my friend) and when he says "if you see aerith say hi for me" because he meets her but he was never able to tell her anything about zack!!! 😢😭😭😭
Fass Fassel This is exactly why, since the Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy universes should be paralleled with each other, I wonder if they'll touch on Zack's death in 3. I can just picture it; Ven goes to Olympus and asks Hercules where Zack is, and if he ended up becoming a hero. Herc then sadly responds, as if he sensed it when it happened, with "Yes... He did, but he still never came back." O, how the tears would flow! Also, since they would dare not show Sephiroth coming back and killing Aerith, if she doesn't show up again in 3, there probably would be a similar cutscene where Cloud has to tell Sora the bad news, since Sora was apparently off training for 5 years.
That is one of the reasons Aerith death is the saddest moment! Cloud didn't remember Zack and couldn't say. Aerith lost Zack through his death, and then Cloud loses her. She practically has love with the same person two different times, and each ends tragically and prematurely.

I played crisis core before I played 7 so I was never aware of zacks’ impending death so when it happened I cried like a little weenie

Adhddhdh3 Assuming that you have already watched or played the remake already (spoiler if not) I think they will cover it but not what has already been shown in the cc, like the scenes at Gongaga or maybe some snippet with Yuffie (maybe her recalling the one dressed like soldier 1st class who is not an asshole or smth) the remake had changed Zack’s ending as they make him alive past the mountain and carrying cloud towards Midgar... I’m seriously anticipating for the explanation

The whole ending of FFX, starting from the final battles was one big tearjerker. Many FF scenes nearly drove me to tears, and the ending of FFX succeeded in that. I was running for the tissue box at the end.

The ending of 13-2 was by far the saddest for me. They had just won it all. The music was all happy, and then Serah dies. And then the world is basically destroyed too.
That ending is a big part of what makes the ending of Lightning Returns the most emotional (but happy) moment in all of Final Fantasy.

I respect your opinion but I didn't feel anything at the ending of 13-2, maybe it's because there were really few characters that I liked,but I must agree that it was well made.
For me Zack's death at Crisis Core is still the saddest moment of the franchise(Aerith's death was sad but not on that level so I think the 6th position is good enough), and what happens to Cloud in 7 just makes the feels get stronger(at least for me lol)
+ Brunno Malli FF13-2 was the first Final Fantasy game I ever played, so I got pretty attached to Serah (and Noel). I then went back and played FF13 for the story and was probably more motivated to save Serah than most people who played FF13 first. Then Lightning Returns comes around. So, basically I'm a big Serah fan because I played 13-2 first.
Fun fact: I disliked Snow when I first played 13-2. I just thought "Who's this jerk?" when he showed up for a little bit. I liked him much more once I played through 13 and LR.
Harry Potter FF 13 was the second Final Fantasy that I played(first was FF 10), Overall I thought that the game was pretty good,yeah I didn't get attached to the characters but it still was a great game, I don't know why so many people say that it's trash, after that I played 6,crisis core and 7(7 became my favorite,of course crisis core had a huge part on it though haha)
FF 7 story was awesome and I really Liked the characters except Aerith, I don't hate her, she was an OK character, the only memorable thing abut her is the scene
between her,Cloud and Sephiroth(I put it like this because I don't know if you know what happens,though it's almost impossible to not know about this scene xD),
Now going back to FF 13. Lightning and Sera were the only characters that I really liked,Hope,Fang and Sahz were OK and I detested the rest(especially Snow and Noel lol).

The Jpop music is just pain to my ears. And I really can't feel ANYTHING seeing that horrible "super-cute" moogle flying around my face. This has nothing to do with Final Fantasy. And the whole FF XIII story was just a mess. XIII-2 and 3 where just added so the game could make more profit, because the whole idea of the story wasn't written when XIII was finished - and so does XIII-2 feel like.
I'm no cold-hearted idiot, hell, my favourite FF is by far FF VI, which is full of emotions. The whole cutey bs, jpop music, weird story(telling) without making any sense (there is no story telling in the 1st one xD You literally have to read it!) is just no Final Fantasy. And the moment Serah dies was the moment I yelled at the screen, knowing, that there will be a 3rd one to make even more profit out of that crap. But fortunately I never played FF Sailor Moon meets Majoras Mask Returns.

Yup, like me f.e. I was/am impressed that Square managed to create a game which gets to you even though you know the outcome. Of course it always depends on the player. F.e. The death of Aerith did not affect me at all because I did not like her. 🙈 The same goes for all of the FFXIII characters but I was deeply moved by the Type 0 ending f.e.
my top final fantasy sad momment is definitely '1000 words' from final fantasy X-2, I know a lot of people shit on ffx-2 but honestly I played through x-2 4 or 5 times, and every time I got to that part I'd start crying.

Seeing Rinoa lose hope as her life-support system slowly deactivates, as well as Squall gain a new sense of empathy as he struggles to keep contact with her--this prolonged suffering honestly stuck with me far more than Squall's wound, which quickly healed as if nothing happened.

I've only played up to FFX-2, and I didn't play FFIII either. I've been so busy so I'm behind. I agree about FFX having one of the saddest endings out of the FFs I've played. Tidus knew all along that he is going to die anyway, that feelings carry on throughout the story. that's why tidus disappearing scenes really hits hard, lol

I would have possibly added the section where Biggs, Wedge and Jessie die as pillar collapses, then shortly after when Cloud, Barrett and Tifa get to Elmyras house, and she explained that Aerith agreed to go with the Turks in order to protect Marlene, and then Elmyra explains the story of how she met Aerith, her mums passing, and then about her husband in the Wutai war not coming home, and then Aerith tells Elmyra someone dear to her has returned to the planet.
It would be a bit lengthy but IMO it should be added, as it's like a double / tripple bang of sad moments literally one after another.
I was wondering what #1 was gonna be, and Crisis Core is an exceptional choice. It takes you to before the beginning of 7 and shows you that the person who should have been the hero to save the planet died before he even got a chance to begin, and so his best friend had to pick up that heavy mantle, or sword in this case, and carry on for the both of them through all his damage and baggage. If Zack had lived, would Aerith have died? Would Sephiroth have held the same sway over Zack that he did over Cloud?
I wonder how they'll work these new story bits into the remake, since they said they're going to address them.
I also appreciate your inclusion of XIII-2 and Lightning Returns, which I think unfortunately a lot of people missed because of the weaknesses of XIII's story-telling.
Some people say that zack's death isn't really emotional but if you add the short cutscenes and the last fight (where the pictures of his friends start fading from the random skills thing i forgot what it's called i'm sorry) before the final cutscene it'd probably tear you apart.

FF X was the only one that really got to me, while Zack's death was a very touching one in the video, its not the same since it was already presented in FF VII where it didnt have the same impact. So even though its extremely well presented in Crisis Core, it wasn't a surprise and you knew it would happen before you even play the game wich took something away from it.
All the other 8 didn't really feel like much and were just part of the story for me.
Good vid though, and glad u didnt put Aerith/Aeris in first place, very good call and made the list worth watching!

xSS4x Actually, I kinda felt that knowing that zack was going to die made it worse, in my opinion.
Um you did actually know Tidus would fade too...by the time he reaches Zanarkand he knows he'll disappear and even the player is hinted he'll be gone by Bahamut's spirit. So technically you must've not paid enough attention if you were surprised by his disappearance. However, I do agree that it was a heartbreaking moment just like when Zack died.

Actually, viewing Zack's death in the original game is completely optional. At some point after the Mideel explosion, visiting Hojo's lab in the Shinra manor in Nibelheim will trigger the cutscene. However, the game gives you absolutely zero notifications that this will happen. So a great many people actually missed it. So for many, their confirmation of Zack's death was through either Crisis Core or Advent Children. Crisis Core is worse due to the fact that is practically forces you to get attached to Zack because he's the player character, only for it to brutally rip him away from you - the original didn't have that.
FFX ending saddest ending ever. Tha fact that Tidus sacrificed himself so Yuna would live and Yuna only found out right that very moment that Tidus will be gone. It's so heartbreaking.
These older games have their merits, but I think this shows just how valuable a properly doe Remake can be. Modern audible and visual storytelling takes all of these emotions to a whole nother level.

Nah number 6 is perfectly fine, i didn't feel anything for her death. Tidus number one and Zack number 2 and everything else is meh imo.
The list is well made and the Aerith death cliché is way past its prime and wasn't all that great anyway. She was a boring character that i couln't get attached to.

+xSS4x hmm not really i think that aerith's character just wasn't emphasize through the game since the graphics wasn't as advanced as we have now.... reading the novel was better you can see Aerith's character developed from a scared shy girl becoming upbeat and joyful character she wanted to become someone like zack who was always looking up ahead with a smile when zack disappeared she finally took a step forward and started to go around selling flowers that zack promised to help her when he got back she never stopped writing zack letters even after he disappeared until the 89th letter that basically means "she'll be moving on" thinking zack settled down with someone. And when cloud and tifa was drowning in mako in Mideel Aerith was the one who protected Tifa to help cloud bring back who he was. Though she was saying

I love that Final Fantasy XIII-2 was basically about the platonic love between Serah and Noel. It hit me when watching the sad bit about her death. He was watching his best friend die. He had never known many people in his time and Serah was one of the first person that he knew and grew to care for. I feel like replaying it now.
yo, i legit played crisis core over and over at the end, and quit before finishing it because i thought i was stuck on the the final level.
i think zack's death is the most saddening because he didn't get to see Aerith. and the moment you see Aerith notice something is not right means they have a deep connection between them. I can almost feel the looks she gives when she looks up.

Gaulfs death is one of if not the most underappreciated moment and death in FF history the music the fact that they tried everything they could to save him by using raise and Phoenix's downs and such and the Krile crying over her grandpa who she now has to take his place

Then, Final fantasy VIII comes out, I get to the ending, then I see Laguna walking by Raine's Grave, and I've realized she's her mother. FFS I couldn't hold my tears. Today, I'm 36 years old and as I write this comment tears are still comming to my eyes.

Zack's and Galuf's death probably the saddest in FF series.
Zack began to lose his memories before his death, fought againts thousands of soldier just to protect his dearest friend, Cloud.
Galuf on the other hand, surpassed his limit only to protect his beloved granddaughter.

There's but two things I regret here. There's too much FFXIII, true, but also, it lacks one the vital Vivi scenes from FFIX.
Great video! One of my personal saddest moments were ff tactics ending where it casually tells you orran was burnt at the stake and gabranths death in ff12, especially sad when you see his brother wearing his armor at the end! This may sound weird but i also found vayne and venats deaths sad too as they both fought to release man from the control of gods who manipulate man, imo vayne was kind of a hero
SERAHHHHHHH!!!! Even after finishing the game I still can't get over it! ;-; and Tidus leaving tore my heart to shreds... (I only recognize the 10 and 13 scenes)
I know that ffxv has many story flaws but that ending with Nocts losing everything, even his life to save his kingdom whas soo sad, not to mention that almost everyone died
FF6. Locke's flashback of Rachel explaining how she fell into a coma. And FF6 when Cyan's entire family (and everyone in the castle) got poisoned by Kefka.
Great video! Saddest moment for me was the twins in FFIV. Two little kids simultaneously deciding to cast stone on each other to stop the walls from caving in. And just to twist the knife, the allows you to cast heal automatically to let you know the kids aren't coming back.

Also since I played the ori game, I knew how Crisi core would end, I knew it end sadly and I knew zack would die, but they did it so wonderfully. That even with knowing it and being rdy for it, I still cried......I love ff games so much.

The worst Final Fantasy 7 death as definitely Zack and Aeriths death will never even come close to that for me.
My heart has never fully recovered from having to fight to the death of Zack basically and when ever I remember that or even watch a video or hear Prize of freedom it just hurts all over again or will even bring me to tears.
No other video game death has ever impacted me like that.
Probably also because Zack is just such a genuinely nice guy and good character you just can't help but love. Even if I tried I could never hate him ever.
The ending of FF Type-0 and FFX always get me :c

I'd say this most definitely needs updated now that we have FF7 Remake. Anyone who's played it already knows exactly what I'm talking about. New #1 without a doubt.
I know ff13 gets a bad rap I get why but that series helped me grow as a person Sarah never gave up and while yes Lightning was basically unchanged throughout the series it made sense her one thought was of Sarah of course she would want to get her back at any cost even her soul. And Noel is my fav character he lost everything everyone around him then is given a mission by Light and just goes yeah sure let's do this. There are issues with the series don't get me wrong but I love it all the same.
Auron's sending in FFX, Gabranth's death at the end of FFXII, Izuna's death at the beginning of Type-0, all three of these had me crying (I never finished Type-0, so can't judge about the ending). But yes, Zack's death is definitely number 1, has me bawling every time...I'll be honest though, Aerith's death did nothing for me....

My eyes bawled when I saw Zack's death and I've never even played any of the Final Fantasy games in my entire life, nor do I know anything about it except that it's been there all my life.. oh and Cloud.

you should have included the moment in ffix where zidane becomes depressed after learning the truth about where he came from, and his friends come to help him and cheer him up
I don't think I can ever watch what happens with Tidus and Zack without ever feeling anything. No matter how many times I watch either of those scenes, I feel like I have to fight back tears. Celes as well for that matter, since she was one of my favorite characters from that game.
A part of me is a little afraid of how Aerith's death will be treated in the eventual remake part of it. I mean, I am sure it will be powerfully emotion invoking for sure. Although I imagine it's because I imagine it will be hitting me that much harder seeing how the remake has basically made me love her character all over again.
