I only had the resources to attend one of the canvassing events, but it was honestly a really good experience volunteering; never actually done anything like this before and at least it's encouraged me to be more active politically.

I hesitate to even make a comment like this but, this is one of those scenarios that makes it harder to argue for things like a $15 minimum wage. I still support raising the minimum wage and I think it is something that needs to be done a lot more frequently.
But ya, this sorta thing is not all that uncommon. Which is a shame because for every 1 person like Doug, there are 3 or 4 people like Christian, who are doing much more work for much less money. Luckily, Destiny ended up learning the truth about most of this and it sounds like he was able to compensate that guy Christian appropriately.

I hope Destiny reads this. No matter where you stand on politics what Destiny did was amazing. So many people have talked about doing something that had tangible impact for ages, and Destiny actually went out there and tried to make it work. I think he did fantastic, but even if he didn't he already did more than 99.999999% of people when he put his money where his mouth was and started his movement. It might mean nothing, but this random person online is proud of you, Destiny.

Hey Destiny. Been watching you on youtube here for about 2 years now I think. Love your content. Sucks that all this went worse than it ought to have. You were absolutely spot on with the thought of having a point of contact to deal with vendors/contacts.
Advise moving forward, you should definitely make an ORG chart then assign duties out as needed. It would/will be nice to outline 'directors'. I.e. director of housing, director of transportation, director of communications, etc. You guys did a good job though. Not great :D but good. Be proud of it man. Cheers to your political future!

I've pointed this out in the past and I still stand by it; Destiny is really bad at reading people. So while he may be a good communicator he's far less good at judging other people - and their intent. He's time after time allowing people to get way too to him close and comfortable around him. Now, you can make the argument that the dramas that follow actually help him grow - seeing how he doesnt seem to care much about the drama in itself - but there will probably come a time when this isnt the case anymore. Surely it shouldnt be that hard for him - or the people closest to him - to weed out these shady characters before something happens. Now, Doug may have been one of the less obvious cases but there has been cases where it should have been obvious from day 1 that a character wasnt to be trusted.

So he at least expects people to act like and care as much as him, which is not something that should be assumed because he is above average in those respects (at least about some things). The problem is he assumes too much of people, and he wants to assume people are good. It’s a good thing to have, but it’s going to mess him up sometimes.

I knew Doug was going to be an issue when they originally linked up on stream to discuss canvassing. They never got on the same page as far as their goals and methodologies. Doug was overly ambitious in his aspirations and what he felt they should work towards achieving. No matter how much Destiny tried to scale Doug's vision back, he kept pressing on all of these bigger ideas. It came off as someone who was trying to stunt and make themselves sound like a political power player running a candidate's presidential campaign.
I assumed that would result in Doug trying to do too much and causing a disorganized clusterfuck. To my surprise, he did the complete opposite and worked towards absolutely nothing, causing a disorganized clusterfuck lol. I'm not sure if that was due to a lack of motivation and feeling the delegated tasks were beneath him or if he is just a complete LARPer who's all talk and no action. Either way, he was a toxic person to have on your team and it's ridiculous that he would conduct himself in either manner while being generously paid.
