I know I wasn't the only one that teared up! Class act... Now ladies and gentlemen, that is how it is done... I love the song and honestly thought it had been written just for them!
What a fantastic last dance ! Perfect music & danced so beautiful to the lyrics !! Like all the best, go out on a high 👋👋. But such glorious chemistry between these two they will be hard to replace in the completions !
Going To Miss these two. They have shown the World how Talented they are and We have All enjoyed the trip all these years. Sorry to see them go. But Know this we love you both and have loved all the moves and feeling you have brought to the dance floor. You will be missed.
They are the most successful couple in the US OPEN CLASSIC division history. While this was their last routine at the OPEN you can find them still performing around the world! +Ronald Diomedes They are about as good as you can get. They have pushed west coast swing to new heights and gained more exposure with their talents. We are lucky!
+Lisa McCulloch They are still around. I think they are just retiring from classic competition. There will be more great performances from them I sure! At least I hope!!
+FAYE LI Somewhere on the web is a 'retirement' speech. They are only retiring from competing classic at the open. They are still a partnership and will still be performing and teaching around the world together.
+Diane Evans LOL thats a loaded question but since they've won the US Open as many times as they have over such a long span I think we can safely say yes. Although its not the most traditional form of swing, dance evolves and you can't stop the progression. It's much easier to do what everyone is doing and much harder physically and emotionally to push the boundaries. I applaud them for all of their efforts and wonderful routines over the years. They have inspired tens of thousands of people in a way that has never been seen before in the West Coast Swing community!
West Coast Swing Online well, like i said i absolutely love it! all i'm saying is if you're going to call it "swing" dance, it should stay the same traditionally and to me it looks like so much more fun when they use the music of that era like the Canadians do! Not only does it look like amazing fun, but the music could inspire people to bring that great music back! So, to me, the Canadians have it right, watch their version of the Swing Dance Riot, it is amazing the way they combine all types of music but stick to the original "feel" by dressing the part and incorporating that old music back!
Its from the US Open Swing Dance Championships. There are lots of different versions of swing! This is West Coast Swing. There is a great interview here about how West Coast Swing got to this point! www.westcoastswingonline.com/west_coast_swing_history/
At least up to 1:30 - the music just does not work for WCS - and their movements a need for real WCS music - something with teeth - rather than the pallid gorp that we nowadays are provided.
While I would agree if this were 1998.... all dance forms change. WCS has changed and is still changing. This is the best example of the cutting edge. As much as those of us who have been around a while would like things to stay the same... they don't. WCS is much different now than in the 80's or 90's. The WCS of the 80' and 90' was much different than the WCS of the 60's. I just choose to take a deep breath and see where the dance for progresses! Jordan and Tatiana did more to progress the dance in my time than any other. I'm interested to see where it will go in the next 20 years! -Brian
I appreciate your perspective - but I watch their movement - and listen to their music - and I don't see the connection... That is the issue. Modern dance perhaps?
"Connection" between music and movement (not partner connection - which, naturally, is top of the game...:-) ). The WCS movement and the gorpy, pallid music so often are at great odds and looks silly - trying to fit a 5 fingered hand into a 10 fingered glove (I will work on some better analogy...:-) ). If people want to dance to pallid, boring music - sure - whatever - but use a set of movement that connects with the music - basic concept true regardless of genre - even within a genre - one set of ballet movements will not fit the a particular set of music - another set of ballet movements will. Try waltzing to say "Jump, Jive and Wail" - something seems disconnected about that.... Yes???? ;-)
Greg Logan Frankie Manning went through this. Before WW2, he could Lindy hop. When he came back from the war the music changed to Bebop and he could not Lindy hop any more. It was only when he was in his 80s that he was called back to teach Lindy - but to do that we had to go back to the old music. People are not always willing to do that - who gets to dictate which old music to use?. Perhaps it is time to stop referring to what we do as WCS or accept the fact that music changes and with that the dance.

I always watch it daily and looking for classes.Bless you both for what you do.
And that they did. . . . They did steal the show!!! These two were born to dance together!!!
They're a once in a generation dance couple!
I know I wasn't the only one that teared up! Class act... Now ladies and gentlemen, that is how it is done... I love the song and honestly thought it had been written just for them!

+Gene Lim They have inspired the entire West Coast Swing community for so long!
I was lucky enough to dance with Tatiana at Summer Hummer, She is perfection
+Ronald Diomedes They are about as good as you can get. They have pushed west coast swing to new heights and gained more exposure with their talents. We are lucky!
Tatianas' wave at the end got me.

Sad to hear this is the last one. I've been out for a few years now and still love watching them perform together.
+Lisa McCulloch They are still around. I think they are just retiring from classic competition. There will be more great performances from them I sure! At least I hope!!
FANTABULOUS!! 💜💜

th-cam.com/video/oDPda4iyoQk/w-d-xo.html it is the Acoustic version of At Least We Stole The Show
❤️❤️❤️
What a routine right?
Why is this their last US Open?
+FAYE LI Somewhere on the web is a 'retirement' speech. They are only retiring from competing classic at the open. They are still a partnership and will still be performing and teaching around the world together.
This is why I'm recovering
;-)
amazing. as the song I think they added drums
+nusba I think you are right. It was just so POWERFUL. Congrats to them. They inspired all of us.

SO good!
they just retired from classic. they are still partners.
you got it!
What is classic? Do they still compete?
Anybody who dislikes this has no soul!
Ha...thats one way to put it ;-)
this is pretty cool, but is it swing???

it's west coast swing. it has a slower and a different look than east coast swing which is what most people think of when they think swing dancing

As Dean Collins once said "Its all swing!"
This is not very last US Open they will be back! They turn 37 in a few months so they can't dance in the classic level any more.
+Connie Pettit um...nope...they were both born in '83
+Connie Pettit Here is what they had to say after their routine and awards at the US Open in 2015. th-cam.com/video/hD9VO24n84Y/w-d-xo.html
