The timing of the first variation is interesting and the way I perceive it is as it 8 count figure. Playing with switching the timing into ;12 step step, 34 triple step, 56 triple step, 78 step step. Another thing that I would highlight would be the leads movement on counts 5 and 6 being essential to facilitate that change of places smoothly.

That's fair. Though, I think the most important thing in this video is how they break it down. We might not be able to duplicate the pattern yet, but it is important to see that there is a process to what they are doing.
